Miss Daisy was adopted by her new family on Saturday, October 6. Daisy made her 7-hour trip home—she is a wonderful traveler! She found a new couch—her favorite place to hang out.
Daisy will have a wonderful life with her new mom and dad. Her family is looking forward to taking her on nursing home visits and all of their adventures. She will now be "Daisy Hayden S." in honor of her human foster sister.
Here's to a Golden life to a very deserving pup!

Life is getting better for Daisy—she is now cone free! She was given the "all clear" by her vet on Tuesday, September 4. Daisy did develop an infection in her amputation site, but everything is healed up thanks to a culture and new antibiotic. She has also been spayed and all of her medical procedures are over!
In the last week Daisy has started short walks. We began going around the block and now we are up to two blocks. She is easy to handle on the leash; however, she will need an owner who can walk very fast. Due to her missing leg she trots instead of walks.
Daily walks will be crucial in keeping her healthy and fit. Daisy will need to be on a strict weight management program for the rest of her life to prevent unnecessary stress on her joints. A joint supplement will also be a must.
Daisy has remained free roaming in our home with her foster brother. They have never had a disagreement. We feel that if Daisy should have a dog friend in her forever home they should have a laid-back temperament and be content coexisting in a calm nature. Daisy and her foster brother do not play together, they just enjoy each other's company peacefully.
Since Daisy has been in our home we had the indoors flight of stairs off limits. She is now maneuvering them, both up and down, just fine. We do keep the stairs blocked when we are not home for her safety. A home that does not require her to climb full flights of steps would be ideal, especially the door to get outside. As she ages steps may become difficult for her.
We also continue to take her for rides in the car. She thoroughly enjoys her drives. She will need an owner who can assist her in and out of the vehicle, and yes, this means lifting her. Keep in mind Daisy was 67 pounds the last time she was weighed!
Daisy has been exposed to children of all ages and loves all of them. However, we feel that if any children reside in her forever home they be older and calmer. Daisy was not treated properly in her previous home and loud voices are not on her list of favorites.
Now Daisy would like to tell you that her foster family says she is about as perfect as a dog can be. She loves human attention, lounging on the couch, playing with her toys, and getting yummy treats. Daisy has never been naughty. She is a complete sweetheart and deserves nothing but the best.
Will you be her lucky family?

Daisy has been in her foster home for two weeks now, and she is an absolutely wonderful dog. She previously lived on a farm, but this "living in a house" life is pretty good. She has not had any potty accidents, does not get in to anything, free roams with her foster brother Buddy, and sleeps peacefully all night long.
As an outside farm dog, Daisy lived with outside farm cats. We are unsure how Daisy would react to cats living with her inside a house.
Daisy's life the last few weeks has changed drastically. Not only has she moved, she underwent surgery on July 31 to amputate her right rear leg. As a very young puppy Daisy was hit by a car. Her leg did not heal and resulted in lameness.
This injury caused her pain and the added burden of trying to carry the leg around. Now this may sound like quite an adjustment, but Daisy gets around much better now without that darn leg in her way!
On Friday, August 17, Daisy was back to her vet for another follow-up exam and still has about another week of aftercare. If everything is looking good she will soon have her spay surgery. Daisy will remain unavailable until we know she is all healed up from these procedures.
Please stay tuned for updates on Daisy. She is as sweet as can be and will be a wonderful addition to the right family. If you would like to help with Daisy's medical bills, she would love a sponsorship. Please click the "SPONSOR DAISY" button here on her page. Thank you!
