Dani went home today with her family. She now has a mom and dad and three boys whom she just loved. We can't forget Kodie, her four-footed brother.
She could very easily been a keeper, but like I told her, "I am just the bridge, and another one is waiting."
Thank you, K family, for giving her a wonderful life. Dani is already enrolled in school.
Dani went from a number as a breeder dog at a commercial breeder to a name and a big family.
Thanks, Dani; you were a joy to foster!

The longer foster dogs are in their foster home, the more we learn about what they need in their forever home. This is what I know for sure: Dani needs another young playful dog in her home.
Dani play bows, runs in circles, and gives all the right play displays to my senior dogs. But they don't have that energy any longer to play. As a result poor Dani can't expel her pent-up energy with a game of chase or a wrestle session.
Another thing I have learned is although she does not have many of the traits that a former commercial breeding dog displays (afraid to go through doors, afraid of the vacuum, dishwasher, TV, etc.), she does display fear if you raise anything above her head.
Also, she has no idea what a toy is for and unfortunately my senior dogs no longer play with toys to help her learn how fun it can be. If you pick up a toy to throw, she will run a few feet behind you as if to get out of the line of fire.
This is a behavior that with time and trust on her end may change, but may not. So if you are looking for a dog to play fetch, Dani may not be your girl.
Dani loves everyone, but people need to be aware that she is sensitive to fast hand movements and needs to be approached calmly.
I will update more as she reveals it to us.

Welcome to Minnesota Dani! Oh, what a sweetheart she is! Dani is doing great in her foster home. She has not had any accidents and will whine when she wants to go out. She sleeps in her crate at night in the bedroom where two other dogs sleep.
Dani gets along with our two senior dogs and two senior cats and respects their space. Dani is crate trained, walks well on a leash, and is very social. Because she is a retired breeding dog, she will need time to adjust to life in a home and will require another large confident dog in her forever home.
Dani went to the veterinarian and came home with a clean bill of health. Dr. S wrote on her chart "will make a great family dog." I think he would adopt her if he was not at his limit. Dani will be spayed at the end of the month.
