Profile

Delila came into RAGOM following her retirement from a life of commercial breeding. Delila is a healthy girl who is hesitant/nervous of any new situation and needs lots of reassurance. Due to this skittishness, Delila needs children age 10+ in her future home. A calm, confident, larger dog is required to help Delila become comfortable as a house dog. Leash walking and tie outs are scary, so a physical fence is mandatory. Delila needs a quiet, patient family to help her blossom.

To understand why RAGOM will adhere to our requirements for Delila regarding children and another dog, please read about Retired Breeding Dogs.

Beautiful Delila is just a joy. She wakes up so happy and gives the sweetest kisses. She sleeps on the floor by my bed and wakes up with the alarm. She continues to do all her potty business outside and is crated when I am gone.

She has free roam of the house when I am home. She loves to spend time outside in the fenced in yard waiting for people to walk by with their dogs. She will sit in the corner and when someone walks by she twirls and runs along side of them. This seems to be her new favorite pastime.

Delila is starting to learn the command of "come" to come inside the house and she will go nicely into her crate when I toss a treat into her crate and tell her to "kennel". She loves to come up for treats and takes treats nicely out of my hand.

She does not sit on command and at this time she does not want to go for walks. She is very happy and content in the yard, but leaving the house to go for a walk is just too scary for her. I am working on getting her used to a harness. We go outside the front door and eventually make it to the mailbox. Then we turn around and go inside. I am hoping that with time this will improve.

Delila had her spay surgery on Tuesday, April 9th. Her surgery went well and her incision is healing. She is such a good patient and has rarely licked the incision.

Her physical exam findings stated that her pupils were widely dilated, no PLR-pupillary light reflex, but she appears to have some limited vision but compensates very well. (Shhh! Don't mention this to Delila because she can spot everyone and every dog walking on the path behind the house and loves to look out the window.)

Her microchip was very hard to find and it was recorded as not having one. This lucky girl will have a second microchip inserted so that it will be easy to find.

This girl is just a love bug and loves to give kisses and be petted. She also loves to snuggle on the floor. She will need a family that has patience for her as she is learning not to be scared of new things and a home with another confident dog to teach her the ropes.

Delila came into RAGOM two weeks ago as a former breeder momma. She is just the sweetest girl and has the most beautiful reddish hair with little locks of curl. She gives sweet little kisses and loves to collect all the toys to bring into her crate.

She is just a joy and so happy. When she is excited she spins and has the biggest smile. She just wants to be loved and in true Golden style get lots of pets from her people.

Look at that sweet "Sugar Face"! That's the face of a momma who raised lots of puppies!

Miss Delila has never lived in a house before so she is learning all about the Golden life. She has done all her potty business outside but has needed some encouragement as she wishes to spend more time inside the house than outside.

Loud noises and sudden movements can startle her and she will retreat to her "safe spot," which is her crate or the spot right next to her crate. She is very hesitant about the leash and has only gone on walks to the end of the driveway and back into the house.

Beautiful Golden curls.

I have learned that Delila does not like to be alone. She will now bark if left in the crate in the kitchen when it is bed time. So last night she learned to go up the stairs so she could sleep next to my bed. She will also bark if I take my resident dog for a quick walk while she stays home.

She is content as long as I am home or her furry foster brother (resident dog) is home with her. She is crated when left home without me.

Delila had her first vet appointment on Monday, March 25. She is now up to date on her vaccinations. She has her spay surgery scheduled for April 9.

She will be available once she heals from her spay surgery and I have a chance to know what she will need in a forever home.
