Hello,
Just wanted to give an update on Dublin since we have had him since October of 2013.
I'm glad to report that Dublin has adjusted so well to his new home that it was like it was meant to be. He gets along so well with his little brother, Duke. They spend their days wrestling with each other, playing tug with their safestick, taking naps and shoving toys in each other's mouth to get the other to play. Duke loves to be the annoying little brother and when it's time to play, he wastes no time in picking on Dublin to get him to play.
Since having Dublin, I have seen the shift of him being comfortable in his home now. He comes to you with the biggest smile and cutest wiggle butt for scratches and love. His soft eyes are irresistible. And then when you invite him on the couch for more love, don't think you're off the hook by stopping the pets. He lets you know "hey, does it look like I'm done with scratches yet?" and proceeds to paw at your arm for more. He loves to cuddle wherever the humans are and sleeps at the foot of the bed most nights.
It took a long time to correct his naughty behaviors. He came to us counter surfing all the time and getting into whatever he could find. One day we found an entire bag of marshmallows gone (I'm sure he shared with his young brother LOL) while we were away. He also had a huge problem of jumping on people and actually hurting them because he is so powerful. It took a lot of patience and persistence and most importantly, love, to correct and guide him to a better way of enjoying the golden life. He has so much respect for his owners he now sits with his younger brother, in front of the food bowls, and waits for the command from the humans to say "Ok! Go ahead and eat!!"
He has turned out to really be a true diamond in the rough and we are so pleased to have Dublin here. To the owners who had Dublin before us, he is going to be well taken care of for the rest of his life and will be loved. :)
