I thought Id' send along some pictures of my RAGOM girl, Ginger 07-705. She’s doing quite well. People are amazed at how much energy she has for her age.

Top of the evenin' to ya ~ and a happy St. Patty's day to my sponsor Wendy!
Well now, mostly all good news from our surgical vet. The x-rays show remarkable recovery from the ACL surgery. They are a little curious as to why her fur is taking so long to grow back on her thigh area. They said it could be a seasonal deal, but if it doesn't start to fill in within the next four weeks, it could take a little more investigation. But a little bare rump doesn't stop Ginger from wanting to find her forever home. To that end, she will be greeting new friends at the PetCo event in Highland this Saturday, March 22nd, between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. Come on down to meet this sweet girl.

...and the Oscar for the best disappearing act goes to ME. Sorry, I've been hibernating for a couple of subzero weeks - but I'm back in action. Hopping, skipping, jumping and walking my way to a healthier leg. We had a sneak preview of my progress last week when foster mom took me to the vet to have them look at a pea-sized lump near the base of where my incision was. The vet decided to x-ray my leg and was pleased to see my TTA device is right where it should be and I'm healing very well. The little bump is apparently a reaction to one of the dissolvable sutures and will most likely go away on its own before too long.
Foster mom is taken by a black birthmark on my rear foot. From one angle it looks like a 'W' - perhaps for my generous sponsor Wendy. From another angle is could be an 'M' - perhaps for someone in my forever-family-to-be. We'll see who the lucky M could be. In a couple of weeks I will return to the vet for my final follow-up x-ray and I expect to get a clean bill of health. Just in time for Spring rompin'. Wouldn't you like to romp with me?

Ginger is starting week four of her knee surgery recovery - but she is under the impression she is fully healed. It's all one can do to keep her from jumping for joy, but we're doing our best. She is progressing well with her therapy. This week we are adding figure eight repetitions and 20 minute leisurely walks twice a day (piece of cake). Now that we've been out and about walking, we are learning that Ginger is not a cosmopolitan girl yet. This little country gal is apparently not accustomed to encountering other humans while on leash and is not shy about voicing her curiosity. She's a smart girl though and I'm certain she'll catch on in a short time.
Ginger is a really happy dog. That great combination of playful and yet just as happy to curl up and snuggle. She has trained me when it's potty time by picking up her favorite blue bone and pacing by the door. Works like a charm. Couldn't keep her awake during the Super Bowl tonight though - must be all that extra exercise she got this weekend. Nighty night Ginger! Sweet dreams of a loving forever home....

Ginger paid a visit to her pals at IGH Vet Hospital this past Friday to get her vaccine boosters and to have her stitches removed. AHHHHH - that's better! The vet was thrilled with Ginger's progress since her surgery and her incision has healed beautifully with almost no bruising. This week we will start our third week of physical therapy, which simply means a couple of 15 minute leisurely walks and this week she's allowed to trot for 5 minutes daily (try and stop her).
Ginger will continue her search for that forever home that will satisfy her need for daily walks, but be willing to restrict her activities while she continues to rehabilitate for the next five weeks or so.
Did we mention that Ginger is a talker? If only I had a video recorder when, twice (I'm not lying and I'm not crazy) she howled "I ruv roo". Ginger sends an "I ruv roo" to her generous sponsor and her dear friends she met this weekend that bestowed a stuffed snow goose to her... which she promptly disembowled like any self-respecting retriever would. Good girl Ginger!

Ginger had her cast/bandages removed yesterday. The incision looks good and she is using her leg off and on. Poor girl is having a hard time squatting to go to the bathroom though. She has been successful a couple of times but twice she started to squat, and then changed her mind due to the pain of it all. It's really not fair to have it so cold that the snow is packed as hard as ice when you have a bum knee. Life is a little tough right now, but her lively spirit is undaunted.
Ginger sends special thanks and kisses to her sponsor, Wendy Hayes, for helping to make her surgery possible!

Thank you Wendy Hayes! I can't express how grateful I am for your sponsorship, so I must send you the message via my fashionable cast. I am surprisingly ambulatory, but my foster mom is keeping me subdued, much to my chagrin. I came through surgery with flying colors (I think they call it fuscia) but I can't wait to get this cast off on Saturday morning. I'm told that after a couple of months of physcial therapy, I'll be as good as new - or maybe better - with my bionic knee. The folks at Inver Grove Heights Animal Hospital took great care of me, but it's good to be pack with the resident pack. They are being very gentle with me for some reason. Maybe they think I'll share my stash of pain meds.... think again my friends! Just say NO!

Ginger arrived in the Twin Cities last night in preparation for her big surgery on Tuesday to repair her torn ACL. This is a girl who is SOOOO deserving of a new leash on life. She has a sparkling personality and is so well behaved. She seems unaware of the pain she must certainly be in - such a trooper! Like her foster before me, she is my new shadow. She has blended in with the three resident dogs as though she were here all along. We all look forward to a successful surgery and speedy recovery.

Ginger, a very pretty Golden/Lab mix, was waiting patiently to be picked up in Hinkley MN, where she promptly bounded over to my car to jump in. It seems she loves car rides. She needed some help getting in since her back left leg has a torn ACL. Ginger hardly lets that stop her - much to my dismay. She LOVES my one year old Golden mix (REUBEN) and tries to tear around after him. Ginger has settled into the routine here at my house - it took her about a day and a half to calm down. She remains a little talky and needy. Who can blame her for being attention starved, she has been bounced around a lot lately.
Ginger is SOOOO ready to have her surgery. She can't wait to be able to chase balls, run around and play again. She keeps bringing the tennis balls over to me and I refuse to throw them - because I don't want her to hurt herself. If she could talk I bet I would hear her say "so what are you dumb or something - you are supposed to throw it - HUMANS- SHEESH!!" She loves to walk around with toys and balls in her mouth. She will chew them to pieces too, but has not touched anything that was not a toy!
Here are the reasons to adopt Ginger:1. She is completely potty trained2. After a little convincing and burning some energy off, she is pretty good on the leash (but she can pull pretty hard at first)3. She is good with dogs - very friendly4. No resource guarding - she lets me take bones away from her with no complaint5. She loves people. Wherever the people are, there she is. She cooks with me, she types with me, she lays on top of me in bed (can't get close enough or get enough love)6. Rides well in the car7. Comes when you call her8. Sits on command9. Crates when you say Kennel up (although she probably does not need to be crated)10. She is a very pretty gal- with a sweet GOLDENALITY
Things Ginger will need from her forever home:1. Someone who will help her lose lose 8 more lbs - she is 78.4 lbs and the vet says her optimal weight is 70 lbs2. Someone who will take her for walks DAILY (once she has healed from the ACL surgery)3. Someone who will continue her training4. Someone who wants a DEVOTED dog who will give a lot of love and just ask for love, exercise, good nutrition and attention in return5. Someone who loves a companion with a lot of energy, but who is good in the house
