Dear RAGOM,
My heart isn’t big enough to house another furry hole.
On July 25, 2018, Guinness (fka Eddie 04-097) let us know he was tired and was ready to go stay with Bailey (fka Quaid 04-356) and sister Emmy (04-096) across the rainbow bridge. He had a long, eventful life - his hobbies included barking at people and chasing the neighbor dogs along the fence.
When we looked into his eyes we saw the unconditional love he had for us, and especially for my husband, Todd. He was not overly fond of strange men, but he was definitely a daddy’s boy.
He was patient and gentle as the kids grew and climbed on and around him. When people would come to visit he’d say his special Guinness hello (BARK BARK BARK!! WOOF WOOF WOOF!!) and then make haste for the upstairs or outside.
Being outside was one of his favorite activities. He loved to sit back and keep an eye on the yard, previously aiding Bailey in ridding it of squirrels and birds as needed. Now new fursister Gloria has tried to step in, and she lets Guinness know when rabbits have entered the keep.
I could sit for hours petting his velvet ears and soft fur on the top of his head. He was so beautiful, even when his thick black coat became edged with white.
At 14 1/2 years old (or 106 in human years), he lived a long life and has filled our lives full of love. He has taught us patience, endurance and that sometimes it’s best to walk away from a situation - especially when you don’t have anything nice to say.
My first fur baby, but definitely not my last.
Gloria stayed by him and provided support and comfort over the last couple days while he’d been feeling bad. He was her protector and guide - she is having a hard time now he’s across the rainbow bridge.
Thank you, RAGOM, for allowing us to have this big teddy bear be a part of our lives.
Sincerely,
Cathy and Todd M
