Please meet Miss Hadley. She is a busy girl, likes our dog, initiates play with her. She sleeps all night in the same area with her foster sister.

Hadley moved to her new foster home about 3 weeks ago to be in a home where she is not alone for long periods of time. When alone, her anxiety escalates and she has been destructive in trying to get out of the crate. In consultation with the vet, a trial of anti-anxiety medication is helping her be calmer. We can leave her in the gated kitchen or on the enclosed porch with our resident dog, and she has had no destructive behavior.

She doesn't counter-surf or chew anything inappropriate. She will carry a pair of socks if she scores a pair, but doesn't chew them. She loves, loves , loves stuffed animals and carries one most of the time. She chases bunnies and squirrels in the fenced yard; so far, she hasn't caught one, although she keeps trying.

She is a sweet, loving bundle of energy. She is good with kids and very gentle with a visiting toddler on Easter. When walking, she is not leash-friendly to strange dogs, but friendly to people. We are using a Gentle Leader or an Easy Walk Harness with some success. She is much better at heeling, without tugging, if she's been medicated.

Hadley will be a loving companion to a family who has the time to work with her to help her overcome her anxiety. She is still a young dog, just 16 months old, and learning the world can be a safe place even if she's alone. If you think Hadley might be the right dog for you, please contact your placement advisor.

Even when I'm sleeping, I keep our house safe from dragons.
