Heeeere's Heather!  This scared little girl was rescued by the Humane Society from a home with way too many dogs.  She came to RAGOM with several other furbutts. Thank you, Humane Society, for rescuing these beautiful dogs!  The humane society microchipped, de-wormed and spayed her.   She had the mandatory RAGOM vet check Monday.  She is still stinky and can't have a bath until this weekend because of her surgery.  The vet gave us medicated shampoo for her skin itchies.  I'm looking forward to sudzing her up, using the oatmeal conditioner, and buffing her out.  She will sparkle and shine.

When I picked Heather up last week, I was positive they were giving me the wrong dog.  She was only 15.9 lbs and not even knee high.  Heather may not have a drop of gold in her genes but she has the sweet, gentle heart and soul of a golden.  She is beagle mixed with sweetness and spice.

She is unavailable because she is on antibiotics.  We are waiting on a couple tests to determine the cause of a medical issue.  Her potty training is going well.  She doesn't respond to her name or readily accept love and kindness from us yet.  We are taking little steps to develop trust and good human touch.  Consequently, she gets mini massages, extra attention and treats when she responds to her name or does her thing outside.  She is
opening up and trusting a little every day.

Heather has bonded with our resident RAGOM girl, Meg, as the pictures tell...

Our cat, MiMi spends a lot of time on Heather's crate and Meg keeps her company when we are gone or in the evening, before bed.  Heather shadows Meg everywhere outside.

The 3 girls are a team and we are finding it very difficult to break them up.

Heather's needs in a forever family are short:

  • Another dog in the home that is patient and gentle with her.   She grew up with many dogs and needs the companionship.
  • Heather is the perfect size for a townhome, apartment or condo because of her size and she rarely barks.
  • Basic Obedience Class
  • A family who will give her unconditional love and work daily with her distrust and fear issues.

That's it.  Thanks for reading about our little girl!

Hey Hey Everyone,
I have some awesome news.  I'm a keeper.  Yup Yup,  FD and FM are adopting me.  I've been telling them since July 1 that I am here to stay cause I'm a perfect fit.

Scoopie Uppi Relaxes and nite time kisses are forever....Yippeeee Skippeee...
Thanks Curtis & Elizabeth G.  for sponsoring me.  I'm here cause people like you help care for us furbutts.  Sponsors keep us safe and help with our medical bills.

And now a note from my FM (oooops) mom.

In the 10 months with Heather, she's only had 2 families meet her. The second family came over Mothers Day. I cried before they arrived and after they left at the reality of losing her.   Reminds me of the song lyrics.. Ya Don't Know What Ya Got Till Its Gone.  It was a wake up call for us.  After the call Monday night that she wasn't a good fit for their family, I shed happy tears and wrote to placement that we want to keep her.  Heather's issues are almost gone and she is taking baby steps each day in accepting her dad.  We were afraid that Meg would lose her soul if we let Heather go.

Welcome to the family, baby girl.  Meg, Mimi, Dad & I Love U 2 pieces.
Watch for Heather in future foster updates.  Thanks for following Heather's blog and coming to the events to meet her.
Heather is home.

Yipppeee, skippee, It's (all about me) Heather,
It's been fun, fun, fun in my world.  Playtimes & walks and treats.  Maybe a dog party in May and then the parades start up.  I love those parades.

It's been so long since my last update that I almost forgot about my new boyfriend, Dempsey.  We met at the MG Petsmart.  I am in LOVE.  Dempsey is a service dog with Helping Paws.  He's very smart and handsome, don't you think.

We played "catch me" and meet the neighbors.  There are 4 tails in the picture.

And that same nite Cliffy 10-071 came to stay with us.  And it's been "all about him" ever since

Aunti JoEllen makes awesome punkin/cinnamon and peanut butter cookies for us furbutts. They are absolutely fabulous!  I'm supposed to share with Meg & Cliffy 10-071, but I don't want to.  I'm getting a little chubby and if I don't quit eating those treats, it's the ole green been diet.  YUCK.

I've been tending to Cliffy 10-071 during his recovery

He's heading to his new family in a couple days.   I'm really gonna miss him.  Sometimes I think that he thinks I'm his very own personal toy and then I take him down and we count to 5.

Today I even made him squeak. FM came running to see what that was all about.  We just said we were playing.

It's kinda fun having a big silly brother.  Wish we could keep him.  Doesn't look like I'm going anywhere soon.

Well, that's all for now.  FM has to write about Cliffy's dr. appt. today.  See ya at Petsmart. Maybe my wonderful sponsors Curtis and Elizabeth will visit me Saturday.  My paws are crossed.

Hey Everybody,

Here I am again.  And I am absolutely fabulous.  I met the invisible lady.

She said said that I've been working really hard at being good and she is right on. No more naughty behavior. No cords, wires, shoes or anything.  And the T Touch lady wrapped me so I would relax and enjoy the massage.

And best of all...guess what!!!  I am totally housebroken.  That was a surprise for my FM.  She accidently left my house door open when she went to work and me and Meg met her at the door. No wet spots anywhere.  So then she trusted me the next day and the next and the next.  Now I get to stay out of my house all day.

Another little problem was sometimes sampling the tootsie rolls outside.  When I did that, FM would stick her finger in lemon juice and swab my mouth...YUK ....PFOOEY.  Now when I come inside I sit like a little soldier for a "let me see" and FM smells my mouth.  If it smells icky, then I get "the juice."  Didn't take me long to associate "sampling" with the "juice" so I don't sample anymore either. Now I get surprise treats or just a
little extra love, so I want to stay away from the icky stuff.

I got scrubbed and buffed and nails trimmed at the girl scout dog wash.  So many furbutts and people. It was fun & crazy.

Auntie Heidi and FM went to Jane Nygaard's party.  Furbutts weren't allowed there.  You can bet that me and Meg woulda been there.  Here's lovely Jane.

She started RAGOM 25 years ago.  Thanks for saving all of us furbutt, Jane....We Love You.

Me and Meg LOVE LOVE LOVE the white stuff in the big yard.  We have race tracks around the screenhouse & shed.  Its getting warmer and we don't wear our booties anymore, except when we walk in the street cause of the salt.  That sorta stings my toes.  We get out walking more now.  I walk alot better with the Gentle Leader, but I still don't like it.

When we're not playing outside on the race tracks, I play "gotcha" with MiMi.

She plays hide n sneak with me.  When she's tired she goes to her cube.

Maybe this year I'll see my awesome sponsors Elizabeth and Curtis.  I'll look under the rainbow in the pot of gold for them on March 17.  I think ALL sponsors are worth their weight in gold.

Gotta get to bed, see ya later.......Heather

Whoo Hooo.  Happy New Year Everyone, especially to my sponsors, Curtis & Elizabeth G.

It's almost 3 weeks into the 2010 and I'm just getting my letter in.  We have been so busy.  Let's see, here's the scoop.

Me and Meg celebrated the new decade with a bit of the bubbly.  That was fun.  Evidently I had too much fun cause Meg took the squeaker out.

I'm sure glad it's warming up.  We had to wear these dumb boots and coats when it was freezing and walked on the snow.

My new name is Cinderella cause I lost a booti when I fell in the snow pits.  Me & Meg slow dance when we get bored outside

Now that it's warmer I don't get stuck anymore cause I leap like a deer.  Meg hardly ever catches me when I do that and it's even funnier when FM tries to catch me.  One time she even lost her booti in the snow pits.  It was easy to find.  Mine is still lost.  How hard could it be to find a hot pink booti in the white snow?

We have a lot of fun chasing the tennis ball.  I even bring it back.  Kinda funny cause I'm not even a golden and I retrieve.  Meg is a golden and she doesn't....hahaha.

Saturday we went to Petsmart.  There were so many dogs and people, I was dizzy.  Lots of people are interested in me, but don't have a fence.  And it has to be something I can see or I'll just keep running and chasing.  And I absolutely-positively need another dog furbutt or 2 in the house.  I lived with 30 dogs and do really good with dogs and I'm completely lost without a brother or sister to be with me.  And last of all, but very important is that I would love to hang with you during the day.  I like my house, but I spend too much time in it.  It would be really kool to have a mom & dad that don't work so much.

Remember my story about the bird in the house in October?  This morning FM, Meg and me were playing outside.  FM threw the tennis ball and Meg came back with something that had a tail.  And it wasn't a stuffed toy.  It was a real squirrel that was stiff, but still warm & squishy.  Meg had to sit and give it to FM.  Boy, that took FOREVER.  FM took it through the kitchen & out the back door.  She was saying ....don't wake up, don't wake up, OMG, OMG.   Not like the bird.  We don't need a wild squirrel, cat and 2 dogs in the house.  OMG.  Then she put it on the steps and covered it with a towel and I had to go in my house.  And we got a treat and FM went to work.  I wonder if its ok.  Sheeeesh. what next.

And I have to mention that I have been very very good.  Since the invisible ladies talked to me, I don't do naughty things.  I don't look at cords or wires or shoes or anything.  I'm still anxious and bark at FD but he's getting used to it.  I feel kinda bad, but I follow him everywhere and sometime I even paw tap his butt.  I let him pet me sometimes if I'm in FM's lap. And the other nite when FM was gone I even slept at the end of the bed with FD & Meg & MiMi.

Me & FM had a heart to heart last nite,  Here is how our talk went.

H:    Why doesn't anyone want to adopt me?
FM:  You are very special, Heather.  We are waiting for your bestest forever family and that takes time.

H:    How much time?
FM:  As long as it takes.  You have special needs, baby girl.  You need a fence, a resident dog and someone that is home at least part time. It won't be much longer.

H:    But nobody is even asking about me.
FM:  I'm sure some people are asking about you, Heather.  Placement is screening applicants that don't have what you need,  so we're not contacted.

H:    Does it matter that I'm a mix and not a golden retriever like Meg?
FM:  Sometimes people want a larger dog and/or purbred golden retriever. You are only 23# and a small dog.  We don't know what you are mixed with. We think your parents were a beagle and a  sheltie. You may have a touch of golden retriever somewhere.  What we know for sure is that you have a heart of gold & a golden soul.

H:    Why do we go to places that have other dogs all the time?
FM:  We go to adoption events to find a wonderful family for you and other RAGOM dogs.  When people come to the events and see the RAGOM furbutts, sometimes they go online and apply to adopt or volunteer with RAGOM.  You represent some of the best that RAGOM has to offer.

H:    Why don't you adopt me and be my forever family?
FM:  That's a really good question, Baby Girl. You know we LOVE you, right?  We want the best for you and that is someone that is home with you. You're stuck in your house all day now. Another  reason is because you're not comfortable with FD.  You've grown so much emotionally with everything else but him. You and I are going to meet the invisible lady this weekend and find out what this all about.  If she helps us figure that out, then we'll talk again about keeping you. Plus we're going to learn the T touch and how to massage you & Meg.  Maybe that will help relax you with him.

H:    Thanks for talking with me, FM.  I love you.  I understand why I’m not adopted yet.

Yipppii-Skippi,I've been so busy.  Let me catch you up.  We had a good time at Leashes and Leads.  I met more RAGOM furbutts.

But I was really disappointed that Annie and Meg didn't recognize each other.  And I kept that secret forever.  That was really hard.  I cheered up really fast cause we went to a fun party with treats and outside play. too.

The next day FM took me to Aunt Laura's house for an overnite with Kaylee 09-407 and the other furbutts.

Hey, where are we going?

I might look like I'm mad, but Dr. Kaylee is just checking for cavities.

And after playing non stop with 4 other dogs, I'm ready to go home.

Let me just say that Kaylee is a really cool dog.  She plays and plays and is a lot of fun.  She needs a family with kids to play with her.

And I finally got home to rest with Meggers.

So, I bet you are wondering what those wood planks are against the wall. The planks are covering up cords attached to a window tree and the loveseat that was in front of them is history.  Thats right, FMs favorite couch is toast, gone to the junkyard, courtesy of me.  I'm not proud, but just let me say, I didn't start the demise of it either.  Foster furbutt # 3 started with the skirt and every dog after that did something else to it.  And finally a couple months ago a tennis ball got between the cushions and I sorta ripped the fabric and then sorta ripped foam out of them and they got dents in them and she kept covering it up and I kept doing it again.  So if ya come over you might have to sit on the floor.  Sorry FM.

The good news is that I am getting freeer on roam time.  I can stay outta trouble for 3 hours.  No accidents or naughty stuff at all.  We tried that several times during Christmas week. Yea for me.  And when I have to go outside, I go the door and make noise with the blinds or my house door.  And at nite, I scratch the bedroom door to let me out. Yea!! Yea!! Kisses and squishes to my sponsors Curtis & Elizabeth.  I hope your Christmas was Pawsitively Awesome.Tail spins to my token givers, Natalie, Emily, Sydney, Hatch, Jeff & Kathy M, Susan and the kids with tails that have crossed the bridge. Catch ya next year................Heather

O Boy, O Boy,
Another road trip.  I am so excited.  We're all tripping down to Byron to that really cool Leashes and Leads place.
We'll be there about 11:00 and stay untl the end. (one of us stays in bed until 9:00) so we can't get there till 11:00.  Come see Meg & me if you get a chance.

Shhhhh!!! Secret time...  Don't tell Meg that she is coming with us to be re-united with Annie, a RAGOM furbutt that she grew up with.  Annie might be her mom.   I'm so excited.

I'm still looking for my forever family and its been awhile since my wants and needs have been listed:

Resident Dog
Physical Fence (wood, chainlink, vinyl) anything I can see that sets my boundaries
Someone home at least part time so I don't have to stay in my "house" all day
I'm ok with a cat.  I might chase a little & play hide n seek.
You have to have a sense of humor, cause I'm a joker and a manipulator and a cleptomaniac
I'm a good back warmer in bed
My own "house" AKA wire crate (safe place).  This is important cause when you're away, sometimes I can be an interior designer.
I'm ok with kids, I like to run and chase them.  They scare me a little, but I warm up soon to them.

There ya have it.  I will let you know how Byron shakes out.

I almost forgot to tell you about the dog party last week at Auntie Christi's.  Meg & me had a blast.  There was 13 dogs 9 people.  It was very very cold.

Don't ya know after that cold party we got new winter coats and I'm gonna get booties, too.

One last thing.  I'm supposed to tell you about the next picture.  Not my proudest moment.  And they were very heavy, let me tell you.  FM put these wine bottles in a plastic bag on the deck to chill one day for a party.  I decided we should party somewhere else, so I got one almost down the steps when I was so busted.

Shheeeesh, foster parents can be such party poopers.

Oooops gotta go go, go, see ya in Byron.........Heather

Hi, this is FM... I want to apologize for the late update. We've been having internet problems the last couple days and have been intermittently writing this as Heather gets a chance. It's been a busy week. Ok, here's who you really want to hear from:

YIIPpPee, sKiipee,

Did you see all my presents?! I have 2 hats, a sock, a bell and a pretty box. I took a break from counting my blessings and I'm starting all over again. Thanks for the hats Susan and Hatch 09-196. I LOVE them so much. See, perfect fit.

Meg's halo looks like an egg...hahaha. She wishes my hat fit her. But it needed a little adjusting after our photo shoot so I tried to adjust it and sorta broke the hook thing. Wouldn't ya know FM had a back up plan?! I had to wear these stupid antlers at Canine Crossing on Saturday.

Kaylee and me are comparing our ears.

Thanks for the bell, Jeff & Kathy. Every time a bell rings, another furbutt gets their wings.

Oh boy those girl scouts from Shoreview. How special are they!!! I remember them from the Parade when I first got here. Me and Meg skipped the whole way. They left me the pretty present. Thank you Emily, Sydney and Natalie. You girls ROCK. Hey, maybe my sponsors are in there. Hello, Curtis and Elizabeth, are you in the present? Guess not, you would have be pretty tiny to fit in there. Just know that I think about you a lot and I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a "Golden" New Year and Thank You!!.

The stocking is from my guardian angels that have crossed the bridge. Meg remembers BooBear. She helped Meg forget stuff about her life before RAGOM. I love my stocking. Thanks rainbow bridge fur butts. I can feel your love.

So, thank you, thank you everyone for helping the RAGOM furbutts and remembering me for Christmas. Tail spins and squishes to you all!!!

I have been so busy since my last update. Last week me and Meg were at Wayzata and met lots of people and dogs. That was fun. Especially when we pretended we were reindeer and dragged FM outside 2 times cause we said we had to GO!! Ha Ha. We didn't, but it sure was fun running in that Mall. Good thing they had a clean up lady there cause I had a couple oooopsies. I was very nervous. This is my friend Nancy that tried Rikki for me, Meg and Pippin.

If you want to see pictures of my friends, be sure to tap into the News & Events page and then click on Past Events at the top of the page. If I go to the events, then FM takes the pictures.

Then Sunday Gilda 09-361 and her adopted sister Duci/Zoe 09-222 brought Susan and Chris. We played and told stories and had a ton of fun. We made a race track around the shed.

Gilda and Duci are eating my dust. That's beautiful Gilda with the Angel.

Then we settled down and had treats.

Gotta love dog parties.

Today FM went to a lady that communicates with animals to try and figure me out. The lady talked to me and Meg through the air. FM showed her pictures of us and she got in our heads asking questions. And another lady talked with us and she is gonna come over to our house. Boy, it was really weird. The second lady said she wants to meet me cuz I'm a challenge. All those questions made us really tired and confused talking to ladies that we can't see.

It's really late and sleepy time, Good nite......zzzz.z.z.z.Heather.

Hey Everyone,

Did you have Happy Howlween? Mine was really scarey.

First of all I was dragged in this stupid costume

to a store where I met a bunch of people and furbutts.  My friend Jayden's a pretty princess.

And my brother Pippin showed up.

.

Opposites attract.

I think I should wear wings, instead of horns.  Sheeeesh.  Cool tail, huh?

I'm glad that holiday is over and we can concentrate on the Turkey.  Oh Boy!!!

Today I went to the spa.  They put me in this gigantic tub and chained me in.  There wasn't a shower curtain to hide behind.  It was really scarey.  FM suzzed me up and conditioned me while this really nice lady talked to us about RAGOM.  She even brushed my teeth and cleaned my ears.  She said she would love to adopt me but she already has 3 dogs.  Then we almost went home but decided that I needed a manicure and picture taken.  It was a really cool place.  Ok, I may have exaggerated a teeny bit.  I wasn't chained in.  It was little loopy plastic straps so I wouldn't jump out.  The lady said I was very good and I got lots of treats just for sitting..  High paw to little Monk and that furbutt with the mullet.  You guys at Ollu rock.

Tomorrow we go to Plymouth Petsmart for an adoption event. That's why I got all prettied up.  I smell nice and fluffy for when/if I meet my forever family and just in case I meet my awesome sponsors Curtis and Elizabeth.

Hope to see you all tomorrow.  FM promises to leave the little "devil" at home.  I'll be an angel.

Please pray and cross paws for my friend Jake.  He's sick..................Thank U.

Yippie-skippy!  Outside sure is slippery!  What are all these shiny things on my deck?  I'm slipping and sliding all over the place!  Br...it's cold on my tender little feet.  I think I need a coat and a pair of boots!

Okay - enough complaining!  We've been very busy since my last letter!

Last week, my brave sister, Meg, caught a bird and brought it into our house for FM.  No heartbeat but the eye blinked and she stroked it and almost cried because she thought it might be dead.  A miracle happened when she was walking to the garbage though - the bird started flapping its wings and came back to life!  Then FM handed it off to FD and he set it free outside.  I almost had a heart flutter and MiMi - well, she almost had breakfast.

Last Saturday, I went to the best place ever:  Leashes and Leads in Byron!  We left Meg at home and hitched a ride with my boyfriend, Jake, and BFF Jayden.  My new friend, Sunshine 09-381, joined us too!  Sunshine and I are still looking for our forever families!

First we needed nutritional sustenance for the roadtrip...

Snacks!
YUMMY!

Then we enjoyed the long ride to Byron...

Snacks!
Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?

I bet I met a hundred dogs.  It was a blast!  I met these really big dogs, called Great Danes.  They are gentle giants.  And I met this teeny little dog that looked like a chicken.  Some people were interested in me but they didn't have a fence or another dog in their house so I will have to wait.  That okay since I kinda like it here.  FM thinks we found Meg's mom from her other life.  I'm expecting another road trip so they can meet.

Before I knew it, we were on the way back home, exhausted...

Snacks!
Jake makes a nice pillow!

This Saturday (Oct. 31), I'll be at Chuck & Dons in Roseville at 11:00am! I bet you won't even recognize me because I'll be in costume!  If you give me a treat, I'll give you a trick!

Treats and tricks, kisses and squishes to my sponsors, Elizabeth and Curtis G.  I hope you can come to see me!

Happy HOWLoween!
Heather

Yippee!  I'm doing my update again.  Lots of new stuff in my world...let me catch you up!

Last week my foster parents went on a roadtrip outta state without us furbutts.  I went to a temporary foster house that didn't have a dog.  That was not a good idea.  I was confused and scared without someone to follow and learn from.  They have this big yard with a fence but I could have escaped under the deck that wasn't enclosed.  (Sorry about that Bill & B!)  They planned to tie me outside to do my business.  I was not cooperative with that idea so I got moved to another foster place. (Thanks, Devon, Pippin & Chaz!)

They didn't have a fence either so then I was moved to my friend Jayden's house!  I stayed there for 4 days and they didn't want to send me home.

Ready to walk? Taking a rest
  Playtime!
We played all day!!!

Jayden (former RAGOM number 09-023) is adopted and her brother is named Jake.  I had a blast over there!  Beautiful Jayden is my new BFF!  And I am in LOVE with handsome Jake...

Jayden & Me with Jake
Jayden and I with my new love, Jake!

I was sad to leave them, but glad to see Meg and MiMi and get home to "my house."

FM was sickie yesterday so Meg and I snuggled all day and night with her.  They trusted me with free roam of the house and I didn't disappoint them with any oopsie accidents.  Yay for me!  I'm hearing a lot of "good girl" and hardly any "no no's" and I don't bark as much at FD.  So, I'm making progress!

Oh yeah, I almost logged off without telling you about my day so far:  I had a bath---YUCK.  More oatmeal stuff.  That is not my favorite thing to do.  I must admit though, I smell pretty and have fluffy soft fur.  Now I gotta go and wrestle with my sister so she'll smell good too.

Hey Curtis & Elizabeth G.:  I think about you a lot and want to thank you again for helping me!!!   Maybe you can road trip to see me Saturday, October 24 at Leashes & Leads in Byron, MN.  I'll have a treat for ya!

Thanks for reading about me,
Heather

Yippee!  I get to do my update again.  Sorry for the delay.  We've been really really busy.  Pippin came over last week so we could learn to relax.  The lady had energy in her hands and had a drum and it was kinda scary, but I think it helped me "relax" a little.

This is relaxation? Is that a drum?

I am learning to lay down on the bed for some cuddle and sleepy time with FM and Meg.  We do that after "good girl poddy outside" in the morning.

The other day, when FM wasn't feeling well, I kept her feet warm under the covers.  We slept a long time.  When FD got home, I was stuck down there because Meg blocked my way out.  You try to bark under the covers and almost be smothered!  That wasn't much fun at all.  Everyone was laughing but me.

Sunday was a really fun day because my adopted sister, Rose, brought her whole family over for backyard play.  That was a blast.  We have this tube thing to run in and out of.  It was really scary at first, but there were treats in it and I LOVE those.  Scary dog Meg wouldn't go in there, so Rose and I got lotsa treats.

Where are those treats?!Rose and ISisters!

I haven't been naughty, except for today when I found a weird underwear thing.  It dropped on the floor and we have a 5 second rule around here that I take full advantage of.  Get out the sewing kit FM!

"Tail spins" and doggie kisses for Curtis & Elizabeth G.  I haven't forgotten about you!  Thanks for being my super duper sponsors!

Ooops, gotta go, its scoopey uppey relax time....yea!

Time to rest

Have a good week,
Heather

Hey, it's me - Heather!

Sorry for this delayed update.  FM finally got her paws off the computer so I get to talk to you.

Did you make it to the picnic?  Wow, there were more dogs than I lived with!  I stopped counting at 100. Treats and water and dogs and people all over the place.  FM sometimes talks about the other fosters, Benji Good Boy and Princess Peanut (aka Missy) and I finally got to meet them.  Benji is really cool for a guy.  Missy is beautiful.  And they brought another RAGOM boy named Harrison.  Meg was very excited.

I was attached to FM's beltloop so I got dragged everywhere she went.  Let me tell you, we walked a lot and only stopped for lunch.  A lot of people asked about me and tried to pet me, but I was a fraidy dog and then I got really tired and sorta cranky. I'm used to sleeping all day.  Meg was lucky.  She got to stay with FD and they fell asleep in the shade waiting for us to come back.

And a really nice lady named Cynthia took my picture:

At the picnic!Here I am!
She helps RAGOM furbutts a lot and we love her.  Thank you!

Speaking of thank you, we looked all over for my sponsors, Curtis & Elizabeth G., but it's hard to find someone that you don't know.  So maybe we saw you and didn't even know it. Kisses and tail spins to you!!!

When it was time to do my interview with the guy and camera, I tried to help FM get out of it because she likes taking photos but doesn't like having photos taken of her.  So I broke her sunglasses.  It was an accident...really.  She leaned down to pick me up and I jumped up. She borrowed another pair from a lady and did the interview anyway.  So much for my help!

We celebrated 1 week of no oopsies!  I always keep my house totally clean and the floors too. And I'm telling my foster parents when I want to go outside and when I want to come inside. They don't have to mind-read anymore.

Today, a lady came over to help with our landscaping.  Things like pull weeds and dead plants that FM can't do because she has a bad back. The lady was looking for her knee cushions and couldn't find them, so she asked FM if they were in the house.  FM checked and couldn't find them so they went out to the garage and couldn't find them there either. Silly people. They should of asked me.  I took them to the big yard and set them in front of the angel.  Good thing the lady has a sense of humor.

When FM told that story to FD, he was so happy that he's not the only object of my "creativity."  Aside from that little episode today, I've been incident free for awhile now...except when they caught me smoking...

Mmm...rawhide...
Just kidding - it's a rawhide stick!

Well, its been an exhausting weekend for me.  Time for bed!  Hope you have a "golden week"!

See ya later!

Heather

A quick update on Heather from FM:

She had a fun, exhausting holiday weekend. Saturday morning, Heather had an oatmeal spa treatment in the shower. After her brush and polish, we went for a long ride. Heather is a quiet co-pilot and curls up in the front seat without a sound. She loves to be talked to and stroked, especially when we are lost.

Sunday Meg and Heather had a playdate with Murphy. If you can imagine a gold bullet chasing a silver one, with Meg trying to keep up.

What a riot!

A short time later Miguel from Michigan came over and here we go again...

It was nonstop chase, play, and wrestle for 3 hours.

Heather has met her match.

Miguel rolled her and pinned her down and Heather encouraged more.

Heather & Miguel dragged MiMi's bed into the crate...

The girls and Miguel were exhausted and probably a little achey that night.

Monday we had a short walk and then went to the lake for a quick dip to soothe those tired muscles. Heather walked into the water with some apprehension and stayed close to Meg. She was a little scared when she couldn't touch, so we walked back to the shore. She was concerned when she lost sight of Meg on the way back to the car and relaxed when she saw her. Heather will definitely need another dog to keep her company and secure.
At the parks, several famlies commented how adorable she is and will check out RAGOM.

Heather has grown considerably since early July, both physically and emotionally. She is 21 lbs of solid muscle. That's probably why she can pin Miguel so easily. We have loosened her collar 3 times. You can't feel or see her backbone or ribs.

She is allowing FD to pet her and will lick his hand if he goes slow and does not look at her. She is still on alert about him and cautiously quiet with occasional barking episodes. We tell her to "shush" and it's effective. I think our "relax" time has helped. She is constantly meeting new people. Other guys are no problem at all.

I read "The Loved Dog" by Tamar Geller.  This book is worth its weight in gold in understanding dog behavior, working through the negative with positive results.

Heather will be at the Bone Adventure in Wayzata tomorrow (9/12) from 11:00-3:00!  She would love to meet you!

Saturday, September 12, 2009

Hey Hey!  What a day!  Meg, FM, and I went to Wayzata for the James J. Hill event at Bone Adventure.  What a cool store!  I tried to sample their products and got busted every time.  So we walked up and down Lake Street - like a mini parade.  A lot of RAGOM dogs joined us:  My bro, Pippin, and his forever family brother, Chaz.  And more RAGOM and resident furbutts came over too!

Meeting and greeting!
I met Jayden, Jake, Josie, Savannah, Ollie and Rusty, and some really sweet people!

Everyone we meet says I'm so cute and adorable and small.  They think I'm a mini golden!  But FM and Aunt Devon think I'm dachsund and beagle.  Maybe I need a DNA test to see what I really am?  We even met some people that want me for their very own but they don't have another dog.  And then some people recognized me from my pictures on here!  I'm a celebrity - how cool is that!?!  Meg and I got our nails trimmed.  That was weird.  I think Meg might go back there to get a bath tomorrow.  Not me!

And I met the RAGOM volunteer lady that posts my stories and pictures on the website!  She took this picture of me (Thanks, Kelly!):

Going for a stroll!
Going for a little stroll!

I was looking for my sponsors, Elizabeth & Curtis G., today.  Maybe we'll see you at the picnic and I can kiss you then?  Thanks for helping out RAGOM!!!

See you at the RAGOM picnic next Saturday (9/19)!

Hey All!

First, I want to tell my sponsors, Curtis and Elizabeth, "THANK YOU!"  Would they would like to adopt me, too?  I'm looking for another home...

I'm innocent, I swear!

There is whispering around here that I am skating on thin ice.  My days are numbered.  I better shape up or ship out.  I think you get the picture.  What does 'eviction' mean?

And now a message from my foster dad: *&*@%#$*!

(Uh-oh...I think he's mad.)

So, now I'm re-thinking that house cord issue.  They're finding my pre-occupation a little unnerving...

Let me explain:  The utility trailer in the backyard had these long, pretty wires on it.  I didn't think they were necessary so I decorated the plants with them.  I am lightening fast.  I do my best work in the dark just before bedtime when we go out to potty.  Didn't think I'd get busted so soon.  So anyway, FD was repairing those stupid wires and he was in and out of the house and so were Meg and I.  When he was in and we were out, I played hide n seek with his tools.  We have a big boring backyard that needs color so I "borrowed" them.  The rubber handles tasted so good after I pulled them off.  So far he's found 5 of the 7 connectors.  It's a good thing he can't catch me because I woulda been toast.

Remember when I said I work best in the dark?  Yup, that night before bed, I went back to those "repaired" trailer wires and really fixed the fix.  I stripped that new wire right down and left the evidence on the deck.  FD was not a happy camper when he found my handiwork in the morning.  Now there's a stupid box over those darn wires and I can't get at them.

No fun, FD, no fun at all!

So, what's a girl to do?

Well, I'm not one to sit still for very long, so I've been sneaking FDs workboots from right behind FM when her paws are on the computer.  I like chewing on the strings and the leather.  Not as tasty as the cord on FMs vacuum and favorite lamp though.  FD has encased the cords in our dining room and living room inside PVC tubes and even tied the cord in the air to the picture so I can't get it.

PVC to keep me away!

When we go on walks, I pull a little on the leash because I like to be ahead of Meg.  But then I slow down down.  Sometimes little kids wanna pet me and as long as they don't scream or scare me, I'm ok. They sure can be noisy and get in my space.  When that happens, I just hide behind FM and Meg.

I love to meet other dogs because I lived in a house with lots of other dogs.  There are 3 huskies and a shaggy poodle mix we see every night on our walk.  We are all good friends. Somtimes we talk to the boxer across the street and the ankle biter (pet shop/puppy mill) dogs next door.  One of the dogs had his voice cords cut.

I'm getting really good at "sit" and "down." Not a big fan of "off."   I have excellent recall and understand "get outta there."  Most of the time, FM just needs to give me a little "no-no" and I don't touch it again.  My favorite words are "come for a treat."  I'm understanding "relax."  That's when FM cradles me like a baby and rocks me just before FD gets out of the shower because I'm on "high alert" then.  And I'm really good about "go in your house" (aka crate).  My house covering is at the FAIR right now so I have a different one with Christmas designs.  It will be good to get my Golden Retriever one back, though.

Just in case you missed my first angel photo, here's another one.

Help me find my forever home!

This means I'll find my forever family in a month or less.  My paws are crossed.

Guess I better get outta here.  If you want some excitement in your life, have patience, and like fun surprises, then I am the perfect match for you.  Hop on your laptop and email your Placement Advisor to let them know you would like to meet me!

Have a SAFE Holiday weekend,
Heather

Hey Everyone!  I'm available and I'm easy too but that's not the story my foster parents will tell you. FD says "its me or the dog" and I'm pretty sure they weren't talking about Meg.  I'm a little anxious about FD so I bark whenever I hear or see him. And if I can't find him, I search for him and then bark when I find him.   I know it's silly but I can't help it.  I don't do that with anyone else--just him. And I have met a lot of guy people.  So don't let that scare you away from adopting me.  If you don't look or sound like my FD, then I'm very quiet and I will love to you pieces.

I am 80% housetrained.  I keep my crate spotless and scentless all day and night.  It's the in-between times when I have a little oooopsie.

Paws crossed I find my forever family soon.
Paws crossed I find my forever family soon.

Here's some stuff I will need in my forever home:

  • Resident dog because I love to play & wrestle (I grew up with many dogs in one house)
  • Physical Fence and a BIG yard (I'd race right thru an invisible one)  I'm kinda wild when I play outside

Wild play!I want the stick!

  • Someone with patience that will take me to obedience school to give me confidence
  • I want a family that enjoys my "spunk" and stays home so I don't have to live in my crate all day.
  • I need a family with a sense of humor cause I clown around a lot and sometimes redecorate cause I get bored easily.

Ok, gotta go!  FM wants to talk about me now.

Thanks for reading about me,
Heather

From FM:  I used to sing to Heather-- Heather, Heather afraid of a Feather because she was afraid of MiMi's cat toy. Now we changed it to Heather, Heather Afraid of a Father.  Sadly, her behavior with FD isn't improving and we know this is a big reason for her ooopsie accidents.  She is under stress and unable to contain her excitement.  We think this will be a non-issue in her forever home.

Heather is getting comfortable here and her personality is emerging.  Last night, she decided we need a new Swiffer electric vaccum and chewed the charger cord into 4 pieces while it was plugged in.  I had just finished using it and was wet jetting the kitchen.  A short time later, as I was vacuuming the LR carpet, she followed behind me and chewed that cord down to the bare wire.  What is it about electric cords and dogs?  Hopefully FD will splice the cords.

This is where a sense of humor comes in handy.

If you want to fall in love with this sweet, petite cutie patootie, let your placement advisor know and we'll talk.

Heather sends kisses and squishes to her sponsors Curtis & Elizabeth G.  Thank you!

Hey all!

It's me again, Heather.  Did you see all the furbutts that have been adopted?  I hope I get that someday.  FM says I have to be patient and wait for the right time.  We are still working on my issues.  FM is reading a book by a Caesar Somebody that might help us.  Just when they think I'm housebroken, whooops.  They finally figured out that I don't like cushie stuff.  I just need a rug or towel and a couple toys in my crate and I'm a happy kid.

I almost forgot to tell you about our Sunday company.  We had the funnest furbutts come to play.  Aunt Devon brought Pippin and Chaz.  Pippin used to be Ronnie and we came into RAGOM together with Rose and some other dogs. Devon took these pics of us:

That's me and Chaz!

This is my friend, Pippin!

We got caught digging.

My favorite color is purple.

I hope they come back soon to play again.  That was a fun day.

MiMi had a vet check a couple days ago so me and Meg went along for the ride.  Just for kicks I jumped on the scale and I am a whopping 21 lbs. Now I gotta start watching that I don't gain more.  It kinda runs in the family around here.  So Meg and I can't trade pounds anymore.

FM says FD has to be the pack leader if we are gonna work on my issues.  Good luck with that.  We know who's the pack leader around here, don't we. Tonight, FM put the strap thing on my face.  And then the guy that lives here took me for a walk. I didn't like that at all.  Then she took me and did the same thing.  I've decided I don't like Caesar or this strap thing.  Something tells me I don't get a vote on it though.

That's about it for now.
Catch up with ya later,
Heather

Photos of me (Heather - I'm wearing that silly shirt) from the Shoreview Parade!  We had a fun time!

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Hey, it's me - Heather!  Wow, so much has happened as a RAGOM girl.  Where should I start?  FM says the beginning is good, so grab a lemonade and read about my new life.

For starters, I'm having what is called a "liquidation" issue.  Yup, that about sums it up.  In other words, the water bill for the washing machine is gonna spike this month.  And as if that's not enough, I'm still a scaredy dog with my FD and all guys.  That's another reason why towels around here are at a premium and I'm unavailable. I have a ultrasound test on Thursday to see what all this is about.   Other than that, I'm darn near perfect.

And I have some really good news...I've gained almost 2 1/2 lbs.  We have good food.  And even better is that it's okay for me to gain a couple more pounds!  It shouldn't be too hard because I'm gaining what Meg is losing.  So me being here is a win-win for her too.

Saturday, Meg and I were in the Shoreview parade.  That was the best time ever!  I wore a stupid t-shirt that said "Princess" and some bead things around my neck and everyone pointed at us.  It was really weird, but fun.  Then we met more people and dogs and foster furbutts at the RAGOM space.  We hung around with Clifford 09-199, "The Big Red Dog."  He's a cool dude and has a video on his blog you should check out.

Our FMs were talking after the parade and he almost dumped some lady's lunch on the ground.  His tail accidently knocked a lady's elbow.  Unfortunately, the 5 second rule didn't apply this time.  Darn, I almost had a taco salad appetizer.  Good thing FM was hungry and shared her hot dog with us.  Why are they called that?  I think it's a don't ask, don't tell thing.  Anyway it was gooood.

So after that, we got lost on the way to the dog park in Burnsville.  Thank goodness for cellphones.  Anyway, we finally got there and met more RAGOM furbutts and did some shopping.  I'm not one to sit still very long so I dragged FM under tables and chairs and kept getting stuck under stuff.  It was funny watching her unstick me. She's not the littlest foster mom ya know.  When she was talking with a dog food guy, I was helping myself to his free treats.  I guess that was a NO.  What can I say...they were FREE and I must add very good.

Next, I joined Clifford, Meg, and our FMs on a walk around the dog park.  Wow, what a cool place.  There's a picnic place and a clean pond and a space for little ankle biters.  I can hang out in either space.  We finally dragged ourselves to the car and left.  I heard my cozy crate calling me for a nap.  But then we went back to the parade place so FM could shop.  Meg and I put our paws down and refused to get out of the car and told FM she had to hurry up or we would really be "hot dogs."

Sunday was another fun day.  They set up the mini pool in the back yard.  I saved the duck and tennis balls from drowning.

I only tipitoed in that pool, so we went to lake.  Wow, that's the biggest puddle I ever saw.  I stayed on a leash, but Meg had to be on a long rope.  I thought I was gonna drown.  It was really scary.  I guess I'll have to learn the doggy paddle thing.  I stayed right next to Meg.  I really trust her even with my life.  Next time, I might get my back and head wet, but not that day.  Geez, we brought the camera but didn't take any pics. Maybe next time.

That night, Howard 09-277 and his FMs came over.  Howard and I were in the same place before RAGOM.  I remembered him.  We played like crazy, chasing around the loveseat and outside with Meg.  He is a blast.

Last night, we went to his house and we played again. I hope we keep in touch.  FM says if I pursue a relationship with him, I'm a cougar because he's only 3 1/2 months and well, let's just say I'm a teenager...haha.  I think she just called me a big cat.  Silly!

Well, that about sums up the last few days in RAGOM.  Stay tuned for the "rest of the story" and have a "golden day".  Paws crossed that they figure out my problem with the ultrasound thing!

Saturday, July 18, 2009

Hi, I am Heather!  I have several names around here like Diva, Peanut, Princess, and Baby G.  I'm finally getting used to Heather and then I'm called something else.  This is very confusing.

I'm still scared of lots of stuff, like the N-O word.  I heard that one tonight when I started chewing on FM's new shoe and again when I started tasting my poop.  I don't like that word.  I go to my safe place, my crate.  And I am scared of the big guy that lives here.  He tries to be my friend, but I'm just not too sure about him yet.

I have a blast wrestling and playing with Meg.  We like to chase around the shed and fake each other out.  Then when she doesn't expect me, I come behind her and plow into her butt.  Boy, that really makes FM laugh out loud!  Then to finish up round 1, she is pinned to the ground and I win the match.

And the game is over and we share the prized trophy, a stick or a toy.

I finally had a bath Friday and again Sunday.

I HATED it, but I don't have itchies anymore, thanks to the oatmeal products.  Dr. Gayle said I need 3-4 baths a week.  It makes me all soft and fluffy and smell pretty which I like a lot.  But enjoying it is another story.

I go back to the doctor next week for another test and a fecal check.  I drink a LOT of water, but I don't have any accidents in the house or my crate.  I go outside like a big girl.  I guess that's a problem even though I don't feel sick. My foster parents are monitoring my water intake and my doctor is concerned about that. I'm not concentrating, whatever that means.

Robbie and Katy and Aunt Christi came over to meet me.  I was so scared at first.  They are wild.  After only a couple minutes, we all played and chased the ball.  I had a blast and I think they like me, too.  We had pictures but they didn't turn out so good. Maybe next time.

So, here's the picture of me and the angel.  FM says miracles happen when we get our pictures with the angel.  Paws crossed for me.

More about my adventures later,
Heather
