Updates

Thursday, October 12, 2017

Iris has so much to share since our last update.  First off she sends a big Thank You to Marsha M., Julie and Jeff S., Lori T., and Cindy G. for buying her the paw stickers for the Foster Fan Board at Goldzilla.  Iris was amazed at how many fans and people she met at Goldzilla.

The next big news to share is that Iris was adopted on Oct. 1 to an amazing family that have previously adopted from RAGOM.  Iris has a older sister named Corvette (11-273).  Her Mom is retired and home most of the time with her and Corvette.  Soon her Dad will be retiring too so even more attention from her Dad as well.

Iris and Corvette look very similar since they both are English Cream Golden Retrievers.  The easy way to tell them apart is that Corvette has a wavy/curly coat while Iris has a straight coat.  Iris is also a bit taller and longer in her body.

I couldn't have asked for a more ideal home for Iris.  She lives on a lake in the Brainerd area.  Her family has many acres of land to explore on their many daily walks.  Plus Iris has a next door neighbor Labrador Retriever named Lucy that comes over to play and wrestle.  Corvette watches Iris and Lucy play but is more reserved about joining in.  In time she will play with her new sister and Lucy.

Congratulations to Iris and the S. family!

XOXO Foster Dad

Miss Iris wanted to check in and let her know what she has been up to and what her plans are for Goldzilla.  First off Iris had her spay surgery and a cyst removed near her shoulder.  The spay sutures healed up just fine.  Not so much for her cyst and shoulder.  We went to our cabin 3 days after the surgery for a quiet weekend.  Only problem was the sutures on the shoulder worked loose just from leash walking and a quick scratch once she knocked off the cone.

So a little trip to a vet up north and we had staples put in.  Foster Dad then tried the kindler "comfy cone" but even with that she managed to wiggle it off along with her martingale collar.  The picture shows her wearing a "thunder shirt" and this has worked far better.  She goes in on Saturday to hopefully get the staples out as it will be 2 weeks post staple repair.

Speaking of Goldzilla, make sure and tune in to KARE11 on Saturday morning and you will see Iris and Lauren along with a bunch of other RAGOM fosters and alumni promoting Goldzilla.  And if you come to Goldzilla look for Iris and Foster Dad at the Wine Pull tent from 9 to  11 AM and later in the Foster Parade.  We hope to see lots of fans there.

Iris also has to say she has sparked quite a bit of interest in her.  She has a family that is very interested in her and are awaiting the next steps.

XOXO Iris

Hello RAGOM fans.  Let me introduce to you Miss Iris 17-155.  Iris is an English Cream Golden Retriever.  Iris came into RAGOM's care on August 1 along with her dad, Midas 17-154.  Iris and Midas were graciously surrendered by a breeder that decided to retire.

Miss Iris will turn 6 on December 14 (DOB 12-14/11).  She weighs in at a healthy and trim weight of 66 pounds.  She has been to the vet to get current on vaccinations.  And she is otherwise very healthy with only a  minor ear infection.  Iris has not yet been spayed and we hope to fiqure out a date for that very soon.

She is quickly learning out how to live in a house full time.  The one big issue we are working with is the housetraining.  She is getting better on our walks with repeated practice.  Iris is a very strong girl and can pull hard even with a good harness.  She really pulls if she sees squirrels and rabbits on our walks so a firm grip of her leash is a must..Iris has really tried to play with all of the resident dogs but sadly my resident golden is a senior and really does not want to play.  My energetic cocker spaniel, Jorja, does not have time to play when she is outside on squirrel and rabbit patrol.Iris would ideally like to find a forever home with another playful dog, male or a mellow female.  A physical fence is recommended.  And a home without toddler or children under 10 years old.  A more quiet home is usually a better fit for the retired breeder dogs.  Stay tuned for more updates as we get to know Iris better.
