Profile

In addition to LOVE this dog has the following requirements:
Entered Foster Care Fence Kid Friendly Another Dog Cat Friendly
9/18/2015  Not required Yes Optional Not tested

Jax was born while in RAGOM's care on Sept. 18th, 2015. His Mom Lilly 15-230 came into RAGOM very pregnant and due to deliver within a few weeks. Jax appears to be the most verbal pup right now. He will whine for his Mom and gets squirmy when I pick him up. He weighed 3.2 pounds on 10-8-2015. At less then 4 weeks old, he is still developing his personality. Jax's Mom is petite in size and looks like a Lab/German Shorthaired Pointer mix. Dad is a mystery.

  • Puppies are a lot of work. They have a lot to learn their first year and they depend on you to teach them.
  •  Jax will need to be let out mid-day even if your working. He will not be able to hold his bladder for a full work day and may not be able to hold it for 4 hours. Jax will need a loving and understanding family that will come home and let him out midday and understand he may have had an accident before you get home.
  • Obedience training, learning proper manners and socialization with other dogs/humans is very important. Jax needs a family that is committed to taking him to Obedience class, teaching him manners and taking him out and introducing him to new people and visiting new places.

Our home has become much quieter in the last couple of weeks as some of the puppies have been adopted. All the puppies have loved to snuggle, but Jax is the supreme cuddlier and will instantly crawl up onto your lap to play with a toy or just take a nap if you're sitting on the floor with him. He loves chew toys, running in the house and backyard with his brother Hudson 15-237, or just kicking back and relaxing. He will seek us out when playing outside and come running for some lap time, hugs, or kisses, and then heads back to those wonderful tasty leaves blowing in the yard. Jax is now 10 weeks old and will receive his next distemper/parvo booster and the last dewormer next week.

Jax and I have had a long talk on what his perfect forever home would be like and he always mentions some of these things -

  • A human that will allow him to snuggle in bed with you once he's potty trained. Couch and chair privileges are good too. He would love to lay by his family while watching a movie or the evening news.
  • Someone that is home more than not. Jax knows humans go to work, so if there was another dog in the home, that would be nice. A dog walker at noon would be awesome, and then lot's of Jax time when you come home from work. Jax even told me he'd be a good boy if he went to work with his family if they were allowed to take him to work.
  • A retired couple would be great too as he knows they'll have lots of time to spoil him.
  • He would love to play with sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, or grandchildren.
  • He'd love a family that goes on adventures such as camping, hiking, long walks, or visiting a park, but most of all, he would love a family that loves him as a family member and includes him in family adventures.
  • A family that knows dogs with shorter hair get cold during the winter and would buy him a nice dog coat or sweater to wear when outside playing in the snow.

If Jax sounds like a good match for your family, please contact your placement advisor.

Jax is now 8 weeks old, has been neutered, almost paper-trained, and is waiting patiently for his forever family to find him. Jax is a sweetheart and a big snuggler!! Not a major player with his littermates, but he does play with some of them. The others are just too big and rough for his style of playing. Jax loves to explore, romp, and play with toys. When he's ready to settle down, he'll find us to snuggle with whenever he can. If Jax sounds like the right puppy/dog for your family, let your placement adviser know.

Jax is now 6 1/2 weeks old and he and his siblings have moved to a new foster home without their mom Lilly 15-230. Lilly had stopped nursing her puppies, so it was time for the puppies to learn to live without their Mom. They all made the transition well.

Jax has been to the vet for his 6-week checkup and now weighs 9.8 pounds and is very healthy. He received his Distemper booster along with Bordetella and dewormer. The puppies enjoyed meeting all the vet techs and even the people stopping by to see them in the parking lot of the clinic. We put their kennel onto a cart and then wheeled them from our car to the office. The cart then became a play toy with lots of climbing, playing king of the hill, and hiding under it. Here are 2 videos of their visit to the vet:

Jax is now 5 weeks old and doing what most 5-week-old puppies like to do - eat, nurse, play hard, and sleep even harder. He had a social day to meet new people and at that time, new pictures were taken. I can't believe how much he's grown in just a week's time. Jax now weighs 6.8 pounds.

Jax is growing up fast, but still a little guy. He's just over 4 weeks old now and exploring the world around him. All puppies have started on softened food and are loving it. Here is a link to a video of the puppies first time outside on grass.

Jax is now old enough to meet his new family. He will need to stay with his Mom Lilly, littermates, and his foster family till he's neutered at 8 or 9 weeks old. If Hudson is the right fit for your family, let your placement adviser know.
