Welcome to RAGOM little pup. Josey is one of six puppies born June 7 to RAGOM dog Maggie 15-119. Maggie is a mini Labradoodle. Father is unknown but may well be another Labradoodle. The pups look like little lambs with wooly coats and cute little ears.

Josey is one of the larger puppies in the litter. They are all still very young and their eyes haven’t opened yet. Josey has a lovely tan wavy coat which is likely to be non-shedding and pink nose. Labradoodles were originally bred to be service dogs for people with allergies. Breeding Poodles with Labs provides a different coat but still a very intelligent dog who wants to please. These puppies are multi-generation crosses.

Keep checking back as Josey grows each week. She won’t be available for adoption until she is at least 8 weeks old and able to leave her littermates. She will also need to be spayed. If a puppy is what you are looking for, check with your placement advisor. If Josey is anything like her momma, Maggie 15-119, she will be a wonderful dog.

Updates

Sunday, August 9, 2015

Josey weighed eight pounds at her spay surgery. She has grown taller and thinner and is a beauty.

Today’s the big adoption day. Her family drove to Sioux Falls and spent the night. This morning they stopped back to pick her up and take her home. She’ll be on her way to her new home in Minnesota and a family with three children and a cat. She might not miss her other pup friends with all the attention these children will give her.

Two trips to Sioux Falls to spend time with their puppy have made her familiar with her new family and help the children and parents get ready for a puppy. It also made Foster Mom feel really good about Josey’s new family and the love and care she will have all her life.

Sorry for the gaps on updates but caring for six puppies leaves little time for sitting at the computer. Josey had a visit a week ago from her adoptive to be family. They spend time playing with her and the other puppies on their two visits. I think their daughter would have taken a few puppies home.

Josey weighed 5.6 pounds at her six week checkup and is scheduled to be spayed next week. Then it’s on to her new home in Minnesota and a family with three children to love and guide her life. She will get lots of attention and love with the K Family.

Life in the meantime is spent playing with her littermates. Meeting lots of new people so she can be comfortable with new situations. The backyard is now open for puppy exploring and when it’s not too hot we’re spending lots of time out there.

Josey is now four weeks old. Josey has a family interested in her and hopes to meet them soon. Josey and her siblings traveled to Wisconsin to a lake cottage just as their eyes were opening and they started to be more mobile. They were all great travelers. Josey met the neighbors’ granddaughter, also named Josey and had her picture taken together. During the week, she was the first puppy to open her eyes and begin to explore. She began to walk, too. She is eating ground up puppy food soaked in milk now along with her mother’s milk.

This week Josey is playing with toys and her littermates. They have more room to wrestle and explore.

It will be some weeks before Josey can be adopted and leave her mom and littermates.
