During the first two weeks that Josie was here, I left the kennel up in the living room with the door open in case she wanted to go in it. The first day she took a nap in it, but never went into it again so I took it down. She likes to lay by my feet while I am on the computer, sleep on the couch, or curl up on a dog bed. After Josie took the antibiotics, she didn’t have any more accidents in the house. Now that she knows there is always water in the dish, she doesn’t drink it until it is gone. She is so relaxed and happy that she has free roam all of the time!
Josie’s other issue that she had was chasing the sunlight, especially when it reflected off of her tags on her collar. When she starts watching the reflection, I call her from the room and get her interested in a toy. When she went back to the sunshine, I told her to lie down and I rubbed her tummy and petted her until she fell asleep in the sun. Now when she sees the sun, she sits in it while looking out the window for a while and then curls up and falls asleep in the sun. Since she was kept in the room without windows, I think it was just something new to do.
She loves to go for car rides and walks. I took her to the groomer to get her feet and nails trimmed because she really needed them trimmed. With the freezing cold weather we have been having, Josie runs outside, goes potty, and wants to go right back into the house. On her way in, she will grab a stuffed toy and start flipping it into the air, but then will look at me wondering if she is going to get yelled at. I play tug a war with her and then she knows it is for her to play with. Josie is a very well-behaved dog and just wants to please! She is meeting a family this weekend, which is a good thing because I am getting very attached to her. Paws crossed that they fall in love with her too.
