In addition to LOVE this dog has the following requirements:
Entered Foster Care Fence Kid Friendly Another Dog Cat Friendly
5/4/2014  Required Age 10-12+  Required   No
This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Please welcome new pup, Kash.  Kash is a transplant from Illinois.  He was flown here by Pilots N Paws on May 4th .  We want to give a big thank you to Jim L, the pilot who brought Kash to RAGOM.

Kash arrived a terrified puppy, guessing his age to be around 9-10 months, who had to be carried from the plane to the van.  Once we arrived at his foster home he had to be lifted from the van into the yard.  Kash is still learning to walk on a leash, he is fearful seeing the leash come out and will shy away from me to avoid it. Kash also was reported to be more afraid of males than females.  I was able to see that he is in fact more nervous around men.

The first day Kash was only interested in drinking some water and resting in his crate. The second day Kash did start eating, but just small amounts and only when I left the room.  He also was not interested in leaving his crate at all so I had to come up with a creative way of getting him to move.  I used a side door of his crate and gently touched his back leg and he would move outside to do his business, always behind one of the other dogs in the house.  Kash loves other dogs.  He is very playful and his first tail wag was for his foster brother Jack.

Over the next several days Kash started eating in front of me and taking treats from my hand.  However he was still not interested in being petted.  He did start giving me “nose kisses” and eventually an actual kiss!

Kash met a new playmate, Stella on day four and boy did he come out of his shell.  He jumped, played, romped and wagged his tail.  He also started coming out of his crate on his own.

On days five and six he started approaching me in the yard and not running away when I spoke or looked at him.

On day seven we needed to get Kash vetted.  Another wonderful foster mom with RAGOM, Julie S and her resident dog came over to help me get Kash into the vet.  Wow what a process! Thank you SO much to Julie S!!!!! Kash was vetted, HW tested, up to date all shots etc. Kash was very nervous but he did very well.

On day 10, I decided that we could no longer wait for Kash’s first bath.  Boy did he ever need it.  We went to a self-serve dog bath and found staff so helpful.  Kash was lathered, rinsed, and lathered, rinsed and repeat.  After three washes he started smelling much better.  I think Kash was feeling better too.

This morning Kash walked right up to me, let me pet him and he leaned in for some good neck scratches. He actually wanted more!!!!

Tomorrow Kash will be neutered and will spend the night at the vet and will come home on Friday.

For Kash’s new family he will need the following requirements:

  • Patience, patience and more patience. He is a very nervous and scared puppy and any new situations will need to be slow and at his pace.
  • I don’t think cats will be good for Kash; he was very interested in a stray cat walking down the alley and barked for a while even after the cat had moved on.
  • Kash will need a fence; this will be a requirement for his safety.
  • Children in the home should be a dog savvy age.  I think 10-12 years and up who would respect Kash’s need for space and understand his shyness.
  • Kash will need another medium sized dog in his new home.  He is most comfortable when there is another dog for him to play with.  He trusts dogs much more than humans and a confident, playful dog will really help him adjust and get out that puppy energy.

Hello Kash Fans!

The Kash Man did it!  And not only did he make it to the Lake---He LOVED the Lake!  Wow---what a difference a year makes!

Kash played co-pilot the whole way up.

And then we arrived....and it was as if he had been at the Lake his whole life :)

Then it was time for swimming lessons with Dad... and Kash was a brave soul!

He even enjoyed time with the little people and took in all the fun activities :)

What a Day----And What a Dog!  Sooo very proud of him and how far he's come!

Then...the VERY BEST PART:  as if we could top such a great day---but we did!

We welcomed Kash Home----not as our Foster Boy anymore---but as the newest Member of the Ranch Pack (name tag and all)

Welcome Home Kash Man!  (Like we could resist that face any longer... Ha!)

Thank you to all Kash's Fans over the last year---- special thanks to Debra Rand for temp fostering Kash so he could come into RAGOM and a special thanks to the shelter staff for all they did to reach out and help Kash become a RAGOM dog, and a very special thanks to the wonderful Angel that gave him a first class flight to MN so his Golden Life could begin!   Kash is now the youngest member of our pack and so he will need to soak in all the Great lessons of his brothers so that one day he can share all he's received and help us foster others like him.  We know he will be a wonderful mentor and foster brother to future fosters---but for now---he gets to just be the "baby" of the family!

Kash extends lots of love and gratitude for your love and support over the last year.

Thank you RAGOM for rescuing another fabulous Golden Boy!

Summer has begun and Kash is ready... though he's not quite sure about water yet. He danced around the little pool watching the other dogs enjoy. We threw his favorite balls in the pool and he whined and circled the pool until the balls were close enough to the edge to rescue ;) and rescue he did... for about 30 minutes straight without ever stepping foot in the water ;)

Kash loved all the attention he received out at the Meet & Greet last week....although getting him to the sidewalk of the store from the car was quite a chore requiring many stops, lots of treats, and finally-- a passing dog that was asked to help lead the way. Foster Mom did not bring one of Kash's foster brothers for support--- bad FM.  Kash had recently been to the vet for his yearly check-up and the experience was reminiscent of our first trip to the vet when he just arrived in RAGOMland--- so scared then.. He had to be carried into the vet... And this time... so scared he refused to enter the vet.  We could not get a weight on the scale and had to slide him across the floor into the exam room--- ugh-- it was quite a scene.  Once in the exam room
... He did great! Got his shots and even a nail clip with lots of treats of course!
So sad when these scared pups revert back. But the good news is ... As soon as we returned home, Kash was back to his normal self ;)

Kash and Foster Brother Bear are heading to the Lake this weekend  with us. It will be Kash's first trip and we are excited for him. Last year he was too scared to make such a trip ... We are hoping he will enjoy  it as much as his foster brother Bear does ;). We hope Bear will teach Kash the fun of swimming (one of Bear's favorite thing to do)

There was a time when we had to coax Kash in and out of the car. And now --- Kash begs to go for a ride every chance he gets!

Life with a scared dog is an adventure to say the least---we celebrate the victories (and there are many!) and we work on the what seems like an endless game if 3 steps forward and two steps back because we always gain something...

A year has gone by since Kash arrived.  Kash is still a work in progress... Although we are definitely headed in the right direction!  This little guy is something very special...

Wish us luck at the Lake... Kash is in for a whole new adventure!

Kash in all his Glory!  Sharing the love with his foster brothers ---- wrestle mania!

Kash will be out Meetin' & Greetin' this Saturday at the Brooklyn Park Petco from 11-1. Stop out and meet this little character ;)

Monday, March 23, 2015

Hello Kash Fans!

Thank you to everyone that came out last week to the Meet & Greet in Coon Rapids!  While Kash usually has a ball at these events... this particular one was pretty tough on him.

Unfortunately we were unaware that there would be some dancing full sized characters outside the store and music playing...Poor Kash took one look at one of the characters and his hackles went way up and he started barking frantically. Then he was startled by a visitor and that sent Kash scrambling for a hiding spot (The person did nothing wrong... Just something triggered something in Kash) and so he was on edge the rest of the event. Kash, feeling vulnerable, tried to flee a few times pulling me right out into the parking lot and then at times not wanting to walk because he was so scared, so foster mom had to carry him back to the sidewalk. We have not seen this behavior since Kash first arrived in RAGOMland (10 months ago) so it was very sad to see, but a good reminder that even though dogs are resilient and they make progress... You never know what may "trigger" a scared response and cause regression and you hope that they can recover quickly once they find their comfort zone again. This is all part of the care and patience we need when loving and caring for a "scared" dog.  It's a journey for both the dog and the human(s).

The good news is... once we returned to Kash's foster home, his foster brothers were of great comfort and support to Kash and he bounced right back to the happy guy he's become.  This is why it's so important for scared dogs like Kash to have another dog in their forever home--- they use the resident dog(s) as their gauge, support and comfort.

Here is Happy Boy with 2 of his foster brothers on one of our pack walks ( Kash's favorite activity- hands (paws) down.)

Out for a nice walk!

Comfort in Friends

All Pooped Out!

A Very Happy Boy!

Kash is an amazing little guy!  He requires understanding, patience, love, another dog to help him continue to become the dog he was born to be and a fenced yard.  He makes us laugh everyday... What a gift he is!

Kash... Checking in from a different perspective... Silly Boy!

Here is The Kash Man with the resident RAGOM crew--- Leo, Babester, and Jonah.

It's a good thing this older pack (age 8-12) has some pretty playful pups in it-- otherwise poor Kash would be climbing the walls-- literally.

Leo and Kash have indoor All-Star wrestling matches daily...and outside both Babester and Jonah keep Kash running at top speed. Kash is nice and tired from play which makes this "youngster" a joy to foster--- with much credit going to our resident crew!

The Kash Man will be out at the RAGOM Meet & Greet in Coon Rapids on 3/14/15.... Please stop out and meet this cutie pie!

Hello Kash Fans!
This little guy just continues to make us so proud. I went back and read his very first post...because sometimes we forget just how far he's come in such a short time.  If you have a chance, take a peek at those first few updates... And then you will see the joy we see in these photos...

Kash and Resident Jonah running errands with FM

Kash getting some early Valentines lovin' from new girlfriend Ruby ;)

Kash is so shy at the beginning of a Meet & Greet but once he warms up... He's a Pro!

Look at that beautiful face...comfy on the couch!

Kash finds much comfort among friends ;)

Someone is missing out on a wonderful boy here... ;)

Winter fun with the Kash Man!

Friday, January 2, 2015

"Holidays are exhausting"....says Kash (RAGOM Foster Boy 14-109). We can't believe this boy is still with us.... He's such a great pup---just 18 months  old and overcome sooooo much! Looking forward to his Happy Ending story in 2015 :). Happy New Year!

Thursday, December 18, 2014

The Kash Man is really enjoying the holiday season and all it's fun (and mischief) such as Cookie Making (eating), Decorating (chewing), and a new favorite pastime-- watching Charlie Brown Christmas!

It just doesn't get much better... Or does it???

Just Chillin' until his Forever Family finds him!

Hello Kash Fans!

We hosted a very large group for Thanksgiving and so all the pups--- including Kash---had a date with the spa!  As you can see, the Kash Man cleans up pretty good! Ha!

Kash was also a great helper with setting up the Christmas tree and with wrapping presents ;)

Kash was pretty nervous when all the people showed up but he figured it out--- lots of people means lots of hands to pet him ;)  He liked the little kids until they got a little too loud and crazy for him.  Overall-- I was so impressed with how far Kash has come. Everyone loved him-- he's become quite the lover boy!

Silly Kash loves belly rubs and will drop at the chance for a belly scratch. Quite a far cry from the little shy boy that first arrived all those months ago, who barely let us touch him.  He also gets pretty silly before bed ... He talks and goes on and on while playing biting on his paws.... Reminds me on what my daughter used to do with her pacifier before bed ;)
Silly Boy.... Still dreaming about his Forever Family!  What a lucky family they will be!!!!

The Kash Man earning his keep on the Ranch and having a blast with fall clean-up.

Sunday, October 12, 2014

Hello Kash Fans!

Did you see the very nice "Paw Print" Kash received from a special family?  Thank you so much Kathy and Hailie Wellcome for thinking of Kash "In loving memory of Oscar, Chester & Bernie"

We are so lucky to have these wonderful friends as part of our lives and it's amazing how they continue to make us smile in their memory.  Thank you for sharing your love of each of them with Kash---he's one lucky pup!

Kash has been a very busy boy and we are learning a lot of ways to work with his joyful "round-you-up" mouthiness.  When we are running the dogs, Kash will often come up behind you and nip to play or to get you to go where he wants----so we use a walking stick and he's learning to redirect that playful energy to the stick and then walks right along side me like we are holding hands (HA!)

Seriously---who can resist such a cute face?

And then there is the "Are you sure I can't take care of those slippers for you?" face of total disbelief as to why we would wear such an amazing chew toy on our feet?

Kash is more than happy to cuddle up to a good friend and enjoy a beautiful day.  Jonah says, "Are you really going to just sleep all day?"

Kash says, " Yep!"

We have recently discovered that Kash has quite a fondness for soccer and is really quite good.  He loves when you kick the ball and try to fake pass....so he must have played quite a bit as a puppy with his first owner.  He thinks he's an All-Star Goalie!

And there you go----we are still in disbelief that the Kash Man is still with us!  He's such a smart boy and will do so well with training.  We will be looking into some fun training classes to get him started----he will definitely be the Rock Star of his class!  Stay tuned...

Hello Kash Fans!

It's so funny to think that at one time, Kash was afraid to get in and out of the car.  Now I can barely keep him out.  He LOVES going in the car knowing there is usually a fun adventure on the other side.

Sorry for the delay in our Goldzilla Update!  First, and most important, Kash made and exceeded his Walk Pledge GOAL!  Thank you to everyone that supported our walk and sent their love---cheering Kash on!

Kash was a big over the top with all the excitement.  You could hear his excitement for most of the walk as he tried to engage play with every pup he passed along the way.  He's like a little kid that landed on a playground of all new friends---How is one to meet and play with each of them?  Ha!  Kash sure loved all the attention he received during his time at the Foster Tent.  So many fans recognized him instantly and stopped to say, "Hi."  Foster Dad and Foster Brother hung out and shared Kash's story.

Then we hit the Foster Dog Showcase and Kash strutted his beautiful self down the runway like a PRO!  We are using the Gentle Leader on walks with Kash.  We usually use it in the beginning of the walk just because he is so excited and will pull but later in the walk, we can remove it and clip the leash to his collar.  He walks very well and usually right along side you as he tires out and just enjoys the walk itself.

As you can see, Kash gave Goldzilla everything he had and as soon as we arrived back at his foster home, he enjoyed some quiet time.  What a Day!  What a Special Dog!

Just a quick recap on what Kash is looking for in his forever home:

  • no cats
  • no young kids (Kash loves kids but he's a puppy that thinks humans are like other 4-legged creatures and can be really mouthy in play and to gain attention. We are working on redirecting and teaching that 2-leggers are different than 4-leggers---this is a work in progress.  So--at this time, we believe older kids or no kids will be ideal for him.)
  • another playful resident dog(s)---Kash LOVES to play and enjoys other dogs.  He loves to be chased and to chase. In new situations, Kash really relies on his dog companions for comfort and communication.
  • fenced yard at this time

HI Friends!  As promised----here are the photos of Mr. Social working the RAGOM Garage Sale a few weeks ago as a proud RAGOM Boy!

Foster Mom was soooo impressed....he played the crowd--- young and old---just like a Golden boy would!

Did you know that KASH has a GOLDZILLA page and he's doing all he can to raise some $$$ for his favorite rescue ---RAGOM so more lucky dogs can be rescued this upcoming year like he was?  Check out his walk page and PLEASE help him make his goal if you can :)  We so appreciate all and any help!  There is also a $ for $ match up to $200 so your $10, $20, $30.... or whatever you like.....because the first $200 donated will DOUBLE for Kash as we honor our own adopted RAGOM pups---loved and lost. We love RAGOM and will continue to work and support RESCUE work so that dog's like Kash continue to have a chance to be LOVED!

Kash's "Paying it Forward" Fundraising Page:  https://ragom.z2systems.com/np/clients/ragom/campaign.jsp?campaign=7490&fundraiser=23829&team=108

Kash will be at the GOLDZILLA Foster Dog Showcase from 11:30 - 12:30 on September 14th at Goldzilla!  Please stop and meet this little wonder boy!  Hope to see you there :)

Kash the "Cuddler?"

Look at the Kash Man----can you believe this is the same scared little boy from May? Kash has made some wonderful progress and we can't tell you what it's like to experience his transformation first-hand---just one of the many rewards that comes with fostering these scared little fur-butts.

Kash surprised us by "walking" up onto the couch and then after a few more trial runs---decided it was safe to join in on some cuddle time with Foster Mom (Ahhh...I've been waiting 3 months to cuddle with Kash and let me tell you---I didn't move a muscle---just sat and enjoyed every moment!  AWESOME and so worth the wait!)

Kash has also become quite a loving "cat" in the morning and when we get home from work.  He doesn't miss a chance to rub up against you with all he has and then pose nicely for his favorite butt-rub!  Loves 'em!

Kash has been such a "butterfly" and it's been a blast--not to mention--so heart-warming to watch him learn to trust, feel comfortable to love, and begin his transformation into the dog he is meant to be.

The best part----his comfort level is expanding beyond his foster family....we will save those awesome photos for his next update!  Wait until you see.... hard to believe it's the same scared little pup that came into RAGOM....can't wait to share them with you!

And to his Forever Family----we know you are out there---and we hope you find this boy soon!  He's soooooo INCREDIBLE...and we don't want you to miss out on one more day without the Kash Man in your family!

Kash will be out having a ball at Goldzilla on Sept. 14th if he's still in foster care at that time----so come on out and meet this boy and all our other wonderful RAGOM foster pups!

Kash's Big Play Date!

We invited a lil' sweetheart of a rescue puppy over for a Play Date with the Kash Man in hopes of some good play and a tired pup...

Let's just say.... "Mission Accomplished"

Hello Kash Fans!

Kash-a-ma-Tash is a quick study when it comes to learning the looks that gain him yummy treats!

"Please FD....please can I have some?"

And if that doesn't work----rely on old faithful---- "The Look" that FD can't resist:

Works every time!

Kash is pretty proud of this Shoe Thief status in our home---so much so---he doesn't even try to hide it anymore.  He just helps himself whether the shoes are "in use" or not :)  Such a PUPPY!

"Here, let me help you with those"

Elk antlers save the day....and our shoes!  They are a big hit with the pack...including the Kashster.  It's really cute how he loves to be near the other dogs while enjoying a toy or when it's time to chill.  Of course...the other dogs are usually trying to take a break from Kash but Kash is oblivious to such a shun and will join his friends regardless.  Kash is definitely a dog lover :)

Kash has had a busy couple of weeks with his foster family packed with commitments so he's not been out at his favorite RAGOM Meet & Greets.  We will be out soon...but you don't have to wait for a meet & greet to meet this silly boy.  IF you think Kashi might be a fit for your pack---please let your placement advisor know.   We are looking for a home with at least one playful pup....a playful younger and/or older pup(s) are good too.  Kash plays hard with our 7yr. old Jonah and with our 11yr. old Babe (though Babe is not your average 11 yr.old and he loves to play) and just adores Babe as an older brother or father.  Kash is very much a puppy----very smart, silly and playful.  He has his quirks too---if he has some collie in him----we wouldn't be surprised.  We've been asked if Kash NEEDS a fence....and while we see growth with us and can see him at some point without a fence.....at this time, we still feel it's in Kash's best interest to have a fence in his forever home to run and play.  Kash will be a great dog park dog----his recall within the fence is very good (once he knows his people) and he LOVES other pups---we imagine Kash will thrive like crazy with dog park adventures and lots of family time and training!

Signing off for now....busy day ahead!

Hi Kashi Fans!

Well, it's safe to say...Kash has settled back in and is his old self again.  Kash shows more and more confidence every day!

Kash is a quirky young boy----still developing his coordination.  He's quite a character!

Super Kash Man!

Zoomies!

After Dinner Wrestle Match--- Kash's FAVE!

Foster Dad giving Kash fetch lessons.  Working on his eye - mouth coordination.  Ha!

Now---if Foster Dad had a shoe...Kash would have no problems then :)  The "Shoe Thief" rides strong in this house.  This little boy will gather shoes, plastic chip clips, rawhides, you name it....and keep them safe and sound....well---let's say "sound" perhaps on his dog bed or crate :)

He's 100% puppy....but he does know how to relax after a good play session.

Kashi is ready and waiting for his wonderful forever family to find him and make him part of their family.  If you think you might be that family---please let your placement advisor know.  He is such a good boy!  Kash will require another playful pup in his home---he LOVES to play and he will initiate play like a puppy.

Kash is still working on his potty training.  We are convinced he was an outdoor dog and sees plush carpet as grass :)  We manage it by watching him and rewarding him when he goes outside.  We have only two bedrooms with carpet. He does not have accidents on the hardwood floor which is why we think its a "grass" thing.  But---it will come---he's only been living in a home for a few months....I'm sure he never had real puppy potty training :)

More later....play time begins in 5 minutes! Ha!

Hi Kash Fans! Look who's back?  The Kash Man returned to his foster home on Sunday after his newly adoptive family experienced an unforeseeable circumstance and knew the new situation would not be in Kash's best interest.  They are heart broken to say the least and we are praying for them.  To honor Kash, they have donated his adoption fee as a sponsorship as a testament to their love for him and our work here is RAGOMland.  Thank you "M" Family!  Many kisses from Kash and us!

Kash has been on quite an adventure the last few weeks and he's done so well with each new situation and experience. We took Kash on his first ever boat ride and boy did he like that!  Foster Dad even gave him a few fishing tips....but no such luck at introducing him to his first fish :)

Kash took a big 4 hour road trip with his new friend "Cherry" and it sounds like they shared a giggle or two along the way.  Kash and Cherry became fast friends.  Kash loves all dogs...esp. the playful ones!

Kash returned to us late Sunday night and after one restless night, he seemed to fall right back into his daily routine....and his playful self---esp. with the help of foster brother Jonah :)

Kash is an 11 month old puppy.  He's inquisitive, happy, silly, so very playful, and such a gentle soul that continues to blossom with each day and each new experience. We continue to be amazed at how people are touched by Kash and how deeply they love and care for him...such a testament to this wonderful boy!

Hello Kashi, Kash-a-ma-Tash Fans!

Kash had so much fun at the Edina Meet & Greet on Saturday that I took him to the outdoor event at the Blaine C&D for another event on Sunday.  He did a really great job and was even more confident and relaxed than on Saturday...

So much so---he and Babe were the welcoming crew!  Sometimes quite vocal at the new dogs walking past---until everyone had a chance to officially meet that is.

As you can imagine, I had two VERY tired boys on the way home from the event--- HA!

We've been having fun this week trying to figure out what this boy is made up of!

With so many suggestions from the events----and so new fun personality/behaviors to plug in as a guide via breed info...we have a few fun "guesses" in mind.  While Shepard & Husky were mentioned most often---we are starting to see how some of his behavior and physical traits may align with the Australian or English variety of the Shepard breed.  Kash is definitely mixed with a larger breed dog like a Golden Retriever...but has many of the "herding" traits you see in the Aussie and Collie working class.  Smart, playful, adaptable, busy, always rounding us up with a quick bark or nibble to get us to play or to get our attention.   He enjoys being chased and will play bow and dart past you just to get you going.  Kash is more loving and "at your side" when he's outside of this home (i.e. at the events he allowed much more touching than he does at home at this point.  at home he's happy to be free, inquisitive, watchful, and playful) but is content to relax from a short distance to watch and rest.

Everyone commented on Kash's unique look.  He really is a mix of some great physical traits----one being those beautiful Amber eyes (found in the Australian Shepard breed).  Everyone LOVED his black "highlights" and cute little ears---noticeably smaller than a Golden's but he has the adorable "crimped" wisps like you find on Golden pups.  Another great physical trait is the lightly visible white "racing stripe" down his face---gray markings at first glance until you look really close. He also has the white(and black) tipped tail and fluffy rear end!  HA!

Our conclusion: Whatever his "mix"----He's absolutely gorgeous and wonderful!

Come out and see for yourself!  Meet Kashi-Can at the RAGOM Mahtomedi event this Saturday at Chuck & Don's!

Hope to see you there!

Kash's BIG ADVENTURE!!!  Yep---we made it to the Event and it was a Great SUCCESS!  Foster Mom was very proud of this cutie-patootie!

On our way to the BIG Debut with Kash's BFF "Babe" coming along for support.

;

We arrived and Kash was met by a very special friend----the pilot that flew him to Minnesota so he could become a RAGOM dog!  (I'm kicking myself for not grabbing a picture of them together)... But we are forever GRATEFUL for the generous lift this Angel gave to Kash!  Hope to see this kind man again :)

Kash also met a bunch of nice furry friends and that made him feel really comfortable right off the bat! Kash is very comfortable around dogs of all types....and finds so much support being around them.

Our big test was with all the "2-leggers" and there were a lot of them!  We were all pleasantly surprised at how well he did for his first event.  He was jumpy at times but over all, he watched and sniffed and ate A LOT of treats and enjoyed himself.  Towards the end of the event, Kash was doing very well and I imagine that he will grow a ton from events like these--- where he's exposed to "nice" people that want to show him love.

Kash was obviously feeling confident as we left the store so we decided to tap into that confidence a bit and take a mini leashed walk for fun. Kash followed Babe's every move but was not hanging back or scared, he just walked side by side with Babe and me. Very cool!

After our walk,  Kash jumped right in the car and flashed us a very happy smile.  I think he had a good time!

Kash had some sweet visitors today---( we discovered he has some Great Fans out there)--- YAY! His new friends were so taken by him, they wanted to give Kash a special gift to help deter some of that puppy chewing from other not-so-appropriate things such as our wood steps and banister :) Foster Mom and Kash say---"THANK YOU soooo much!"

Thank you to everyone that came out to meet Kash today!  We are thrilled that he had a good time and so we will be out again to another event so Kash can continue to enjoy new experiences and people.  It's all about exposing scared dogs to positive experiences and being patient with their fears so they can grow and become the dogs they are meant to be.  Kash is well on his way----so PROUD of him!

Guess who finally made it up the stairs?  YAY!

It only took 6 days, 12 lessons and 24 cut up hot dogs (LOL!) and lots of encouragement!

And worth every minute!  As you can see, Kash is pretty proud of himself and so are we!

Now as exciting as this is....we soon discovered...our little foster boy is quite the "Surfer"...as in "Counter Surfer!"  So...all the goodies are gone...our house has been "Kash-proofed"  HA!

And with all the rain (and mosquitoes)---our playtime outside this past weekend was somewhat limited so we made good use of the very large and cozy attached garage for a play area. Of course, we soon discovered two more of Kash's favorite things to do:

Expert Shoe Thief (slippers, running shoes and flip flops---all his faves!)

Avid Reader and Coupon Cutter

This sweet little boy finally gets to be the PUPPY he missed out on being so scared.  Kash is still quite skittish...but more often than not now, he is happy, playful, inquisitive, silly and so amazing!  It watch him conquer the steps was as thrilling as it was frustrating...but in the end we cheered and carried on as if we were watching a baby take his first steps --- so awesome!  Within 12 hours of making his 1st solo flight---he was running up and down the stairs like he's done it his whole life.  Such an accomplishment for this little boy!

The next goal is to make it out to a RAGOM Meet & Greet so you all can meet this special boy and so he can meet all of you!  The more we can expose him to positive experiences, the more he will flourish.  So--- we are "planning" to bring Kash out to the Edina event on Saturday 6/7 from 12-2.  Please come out and see us all....hoping this will be Kash's next big adventure and accomplishment. I'll have to pick up a pack hot dogs just in case... HA!  If we are not there... you will know that Kash was just not ready....but I have a pretty good feeling he will do just fine!  His lessons will begin this week.

Hope to see you there!

Hello Friends!

We are so excited to watch this boy's transformation.  Kash arrived to our home on Sunday after a few weeks with his "Angel" Foster Mom Deb who opened her home when a temporary foster was needed on an urgent plea so Kash could make his flight.  We can't thank Foster Mom Deb enough for the work she did with Kash!  He is a totally different dog than the one I first met when he arrived in RAGOMland.  Still very cautious of all new things, but Kash is trusting and willing...both keys to growth!  Foster Mom Deb had Kash neutered for us because our newly adopted boy Bear does not like un-neutered males at all.  As you can see---their first meeting was a hit!  Thanks Deb for all the hard work...it sure paid off!

Kash & Bear...Fast Friends!

Kash feels most comfortable outside where he's free to run and play.  He LOVES to be chased and would LOVE another young pup that would chase him every day!  Our boys can barely keep up---but they are loving every minute.  Kash has been good about reading dog language and when the senior boys tell him to back off...he has done a pretty good job at moving on to the next willing playmate.  Here Kash has 3 pups watching his "Zoomies"---so funny!

The Zoomies!

Kash loves the cool grass after a good run and has been enjoying body rubs....took about 3 days....but now he's more than happy to get some lovin'!

Ahhhh...this is the Life!

Inside---Kash does not have a clue about going up steps.  He can do a few as we have 2 coming in the home, but then we have 9 steps up to the main level.  Either he's never learned them (maybe lived outside his whole life) or he has a fear related to them.  He will stretch his body up as far as he can but will not---so far---get his rear paws on the steps.  We've been encouraging him each day...using treats, ham, hotdogs, on each step and in time, we trust he will figure it out.

We did carry him upstairs last night as he whined and barked --- wanting so bad to be up with us watching TV.  He LOVED it and was comfortable enough to spread out and take a snooze.  We will continue to work on the steps with Kash and hope by next update we will have a success story to share!  One good thing---once upstairs, he will descend the stairs so it will just take some time and patience-- one key requirement we are looking for in his Forever Home :)

Being with Family is Best!

The other requirement will be a doggie that loves to play.  Kash has come out of his shell so much from time with the dogs.  He watches how the dogs interact with us and with him....it's a language all its own and its absolutely PRICELESS!  He's such a cool doggie!

Kash still loves his crate--- his little den.  As a Foster Home, it's such a blessing when dogs love their crates---keeps everyone safe and happy while we are sleeping or away and gives Kash his own place to get away when he wants to.  We will be excited to move the crate up to the main floor as soon as he conquers the steps :) But for now...he has his own little landing --- "Kash's Landing," we call it!  HA!

If you are looking for a really special pup with all the goods...and are willing to provide that loving supportive environment this special boy needs....Kash is absolutely a wonderful boy!  So glad we get to be a part of his journey here in RAGOMland.  Please contact your Placement Advisor if you think this little cutie might be the one for you!

Well, Kash did great at the vet last week.  His neuter is done and he is healing up wonderfully.  Although it is a challenge keeping a puppy from romping and playing.  He need a couple of weeks of leash only walking and Kash wants to play, play, and play some more.

When we arrived in the morning at the vet I was so happy to see Kash walking around the room, smelling everything.  It was wonderful to see him acting like a regular dog instead of lying in the corner of the room, tense and scared.  When I picked Kash up the next day I was astonished to see him walking out from the back on his own, the tech leading him on his leashes.  I wanted to take a picture of him but I was in utter shock and completely forgot.  He did tense up and did not want to get into the car to go home but once in the car he was enjoying looking out the back windows on the drive home.  We are making progress for sure!

Kash is still leery of me and I still approach him from the side instead of straight on, face to face.  He feels less threatened that way.  He has allowed more petting and has twice given me a paw, asking for more.  This is a beautiful boy who will steal your heart when you’re not looking!
