This afternoon Kiki became an official member of the F family. Her long journey from a homeless dog living in a Turkish bus depot is finally over.

She is now the matriarch of an 80 acre country home and is planning on summer weekends at her lake cabin in Northern Minnesota.

Her new Mom and Dad have a long history of enjoying and loving Golden Retrievers. Sweet Kiki, we wish you all the best!

Kiki is a two-year-old female Golden Retriever, one of nine dogs rescued this April from the streets and shelters of Turkey. Kiki was living in a bus depot in Sarkarya. She never left the area and no one came to claim her.

Kiki is unusually calm for a young dog. She is gentle and affectionate with a delightful playful streak. She and my three-year-old resident Cody starting romping five minutes after they met. They enjoy chasing each other, playing tug and wrestling. Sometimes they lay quietly side by side on the lawn. Kiki recently offered her friendship to a very small dog. She hasn’t yet met the resident cat.

Kiki is up-to-date on her vaccinations. She is heartworm negative, has been dewormed and is on Heartgard and flea/tick medication. She is being treated for an ear infection. Kiki weighs 65 pounds, about five pounds more than she needs.

Kiki is a former house dog. She is comfortable with steps, doors, bowls and beds (canine and human). She had one accident in the house on her first day here but prefers to do her business outside. She rides quietly in the car and sleeps quietly in her crate at night.

Kiki is food motivated without being aggressive. She takes treats gently.

She is a strong dog and sometimes jumps when excited. She can be a little mouthy. We are working on these behaviors but believe Kiki will do best in a family with older children.

Kiki has survived homelessness and hunger but her love for people has never wavered. This wonderful dog is ready for a wonderful family.
