Hi Kota fans,

Kota is back in foster care after being adopted last fall, it seems that a high energy puppy and a 3 year old toddler can be too much to handle. Kota has been here in our pack for a little over a week and he is getting along fine with our resident Golden Lacey and even our "Grumpy Old Man" Bailey who is a little Bichon Mix. He plays with Lacey like puppies do all mouth, but Lacey lets him know where the boundaries are.
Kota's forever home should most likely have children that are over the age of 5 or 6. He is fully housebroken and respects baby gates and spends his nights on our bed. But in his previous home he slept on his dog bed in the bedroom. The one problem Kota has is that he does not like strangers coming into the house. He will bark and growl a little bit. Once they are in and he settles he goes up and is very friendly with them its just the initial greeting. We will be working on this with him over the next few weeks.
If you are interested in meeting this playful young man please let your placement advisor know.

Hi Kota Fans!

Sorry it has been so long since our last update. Kota continues his rehabilitation and is making some strides. We have started walking him with a different collar and it seems to be helping with him as we pass other people and dogs. He pretty much ignores strange people now and only some dogs cause him problems. It is a work in progress that takes time and patience.

On an exciting note we have introduced a new foster dog to our pack, Nikki 12-099 and after careful introductions Kota has accepted her and has even come to be her big brother. He plays great with her both in the house and outside, he is showing her the routine here and when we put her in her kennel at night he goes up and comforts her. He has even let her in his kennel with him. It is so cute.

Kota would love to find that special person or family to call his own, if you think you have the right stuff let your placement adviser know.

Hi Kota Fans-

Kota says thank you to the donors that remembered him this holiday season. And look at him in his cute santa hat.

Kota continues to work on his stranger, and strange dog aggressions. We will see how he does this weekend because we will have a full house on both days. We keep him tethered to one of us when we have company and as long as no one looks him in the eye or startles him he is doing much better. Kota will take a special adopter to welcome him into their home, he has become very comfortable with us and is one of the most sweet fosters we have had in our home with our family. It is just having to be careful with him when strangers come over that is the challenge. If you feel you may be up for this challenge please let your placement advisor know.

Hi Kota fans,

Kota has been with us for 8 months now and we have come to know him very well. We continue to work with him on his greetings of strangers, he is improving but the process is slow. He is better when people come to our house but the ones we meet outside can still cause a negative reaction. He will definitely need a home without cats since he just about got my neighbors' cat that strayed into our yard. He also will need a home without small children, middle school and above would be fine. He will also need a home that is willing to continue his behavior modification training. I am including some more photos for you also.

Golden in Spirit! From Anonymous Golden in Spirit! From Anonymous

Friday, February 11, 2011

Kota has been here about 5 weeks now and is fitting in well to our pack. Kota and our resident golden Lacey like to play and sometimes Kota gets a little carried away, but Lacey is teaching him to respect his elders. Kota is a typical puppy and has to be watched or he will chew on inappropriate items, but he is fully housetrained and he goes into his crate without issue when we leave. We are working on his greeting people and stranger anxiety and we are seeing progress. Enjoys having a walk everyday but does not always enjoy the cold weather.  He is a happy go lucky dog that is willing to please but need reminders of good behavior.
If you are interested in meeting Kota let your placement advisor know.
