Lacee took her last journey yesterday late afternoon (May 20th). With many tears and a heavy heart I let her go. It was time. She had a good 5 years with us. She was 18+ and we had her 2-5 more years more than we dreamed or even imagined. Lacee came to us as a foster on March 1, 2008. She was 13 at the time. We did not know her exact birth date. After she went deaf and got doggie dementia, she was still a trooper. But it was her hips that finally got the best of her. I have never had to "make an appointment" to send one of my puppers to the Bridge, but I called on Friday and made the appointment for yesterday late afternoon. It was time. Her bad days were out numbering her good days and I just could not let her go on like this. It was a double whammy because she was a spitting female image of my Bridge boy Jack. (Her picture on the foster plea is what did it for me.) But she is no longer in pain and is running free. Godspeed dear girl. You will very much be missed. |
