Lady 05-052

6/24/05: Hi, I'm Lady. I arrived at my foster home around lunch time with my housemate, Luke 05-02-347. We met the resident Golden and the other foster, Sunny 05-174. Now she was scary..had this big clear plastic thing coming outta her neck/head area. Whoa, does it sting if she nails you with that.

So anyway, we did the meet and greet thing, a little sniffing, relieved myself and then saw it....the big yellow pool with Water!!! Yes, it was so cool and fun to jump in and out of. After some play time, of which I spent mine on a 50 foot run (my mom told my foster mom I need to be attached by my Gentle Leader or you can say bye bye Lady), we got up on the deck, closed up the gates and enjoyed the warm breeze.

Then I saw it....him....this orange furry thing laying on the other side of the glass sliders. Well, no one would let him out or me in, so I guess I spent a bit of time looking at him through the glass....well ok, about a half hour or so. I would look, he'd ignore me, I would turn around a couple of times....he just yawned. It was too much. Finally I got in and met him....he couldn't have cared less....typical cat!! So that was sorta the end of the stare down.

We had dinner then - I was famished, and girl, with this figure I can eat all I want! Then it was time for the humans to eat....they gated us out of the kitchen...so the other 3 laid down for a short nap while I did what I do best....nosed around, checked things out and of course, what else? Found the cat on the chair and we did the stare down thing again. But hey, it's cool....I know eventually we'll be good friends.

So now it's getting late and I guess Luke wants to send a couple pics and a note in. Just a little side note, I may be 7 but I act and play like I'm about 2; don't let the gray fool ya. I see the vet on Monday morning so will update you after the weekend and the vet visit.

Dear Wonderful RAGOM Family:

It is with a heavy heart that we are letting you know that our Lady 05-052 crossed the rainbow bridge on Friday, to join her brother Sam (Slim 06-545) who crossed in 2013.

In return Lady brought so much to our family. We thought by adopting an almost 8 yr old dog, we would give her a good, loving home for a few years. What we didn't know is that she would be a part of our lives for over 9 more! She lived to be 16 1/2!

Lady was a leaner and I will miss that a lot. Never bossy for pets, but would just quietly lean into her people for love. She was gentle and sweet and always 'lady'-like, and she never barked.

With my kids now in college, Lady became my 'baby'. As she got older, her kidneys and liver weren't functioning at 100% and she was developing arthritis. I made it my mission to read every blog and every article on using supplements and food to give her comfort. And it worked! Her liver function had actually improved! But lately it was her arthritis that was getting bad. Lady never complained, never whined or winced and would always insist on walking down to the mailbox and around the yard, no matter how much her body was hurting. But the past few days she had taken a huge decline and was limping. When she needed help to stand in the mornings, I knew I had to decide what she couldn't tell me herself.

The love of a dog is truly unconditional in every way and I'm glad I could do my best to return the favor and make it part of my every day to make her comfortable and happy. Until we meet again Ladybug. Thank you for choosing us <3

My family had the privilege of adopting 7 year old Lady this past July. We were referred to RAGOM by a friend after the passing of our Golden, Buc. We fell in love with the organization and believe in the entire process. We decided that a male, 2-4, would best fit our family.

However, we found a 5.5 year old male that we wanted to meet with. But he had just found his forever home. His foster Mom asked us to consider a 7 seven year old female she was fostering. Well, she wasn't male and we thought that 7 was a bit too old. We looked her up and read her bio. We thought she was very cute, but shame-on-us, a bit gray on the face. But there was something about her, we decided to meet her.

Well, it took about 2 seconds and our entire family was absolutely, positively, head-over-heels in love. She was so sweet and loveable! She kept going back and forth between all of us-soaking up all the pets she could. Of course we had to have her!

Now when we look at our Lady-Bug, we don't see gray-just our beautiful girl. And believe me she gets told how pretty she is and how much she's loved all day long.

So, please, please, if you are considering adoption, don't get too specific on what you are looking for. Have an open mind and an open heart and you will find your forever friend, maybe where you wern't looking. It's probably a good thing that the RAGOM dogs don't get to judge us on how we look or our issues. They each just want to be loved and love back unconditionally, not matter how gray our hair is or how old we may be.

Adopting Lady has been one of the most rewarding things we have ever done. Our many thanks to everyone who made it possible.

Hi All,

Sorry haven't had time to write. Been busy gardening, playing with the hoses, in the wading pool, meeting the cat, Sedwick, who takes a week to be social. Went to my foster mom's brother's yesterday and got to play with a 10 month old Black Lab and a 10 week old "Weiner" dog. It was a fun day, til the fireworks started. Boy, that was it for me! I spent the rest of the time in the house with my foster dad. They decided the city was too busy and noisy and so we came home to where it was quiet. Whew, finally got some sleep.

I'm feeling at home now and so am playing with toys, love to play tug with Luke, hang out with Sam the cat....I try really hard not to chase him anymore. Was to vet and am all updated on my shots, got my Frontline, heartworm was negative so on my Heartguard. Am keeping my grooming up so will be fresh and ready to go when my forever family comes calling :) Love to go for walks, but still do best with the Gentle Leader. Love it when the neighbor girl comes over and I get some loving time.

My foster mom keeps confusing me with the other 2 dogs and Friday she was to take Luke to vet. We got almost to the vet's door when she realized she had the wrong dog!!! I mean, come on woman, check out the white face verses the younger looking guy!! Lucky for her I got right in the van and didn't take off on her. So it was a quick ride back home and a change in the troops.

My foster mom says I'm a lover and like to lean into you to get my pets/pats and scritches. I'm not much for getting up on the bed (unlike someone I know) unless asked. Usually like to lay down on the cool tile in front of the fireplace. I have discovered I love the squeaky balls better than the tennis balls.

I have this great "sniffer" so smelled a gopher and did dig a bit....just trying to help out. Foster Dad wasn't too mad, but it seems my rope doesn't go that far anymore....go figure. I guess being in a yard with a nice high fence would be awesome - then I could run around, play tug, chase my tail (which is my speciality, by the way) and maybe get hosed down when it's hot.

I am really good in the house and gentle, so maybe someone out there would like me to join their family. Like I said, I may be 7, but act like I'm 2 or 3 years old. Should you decide you'd like to "talk", just contact

Placementatragom [dot] org. Until next time....keep thinking about me....I may be the ONE.
