I know that I have only been in my foster home for 4 1/2 days and a day and a half of that I was at the vets getting fixed. I didn't realize that I was broken. But I am excited to tell you all about myself. Well, this is Lexi here and I am 7 years old. I came from Eastern Iowa with my mother (Bella, age 9), but she did not get out of the car when I did. I heard someone say that she was going on up to the cities. I sure hope that she is okay and that she is being treated as well as I am. FM assures me that she is. Bella and I have been together for these seven years, but I guess someone thought that we would be okay if we were separated. I guess a girl has to "leave home" at some time and this is my time. We were given up due to a divorce and before we could get into RAGOM we ended up being put outside in a kennel. Do you know how COLD it is here in Iowa?? A couple of nights it got down to -10 with the wind chill factor even colder. Now, that is toooo cold to be left outside. Besides a Golden girl like me should be queen of her castle INSIDE. Well, this real nice lady and man said that they would let me come and live in their house until I found my forever family and I am sooooo glad that they did. Then I had to wait a couple of days until another nice family said that they would let my mother come and live with them until she found her forever family. THEN we had to wait some more days in the cold until some really nice people said they would help my mother and me get to where we needed to be.
Well, after I met my two FS's (my two FB's were not home at the time) which went very well, we had supper, and I had a MUCH needed bath. I guess I was a little stinky. Okay, all right.... A LOT stinky. I had several bad mats cut out and a real nice bath. I just stood there and really enjoyed all of the rubbing and massaging that FM did. I did not object at all and as I was getting out of the tub when I was done, my tail started wagging and FM thought that it was going to come right off it was going so fast. FM said that it was because I felt soooo much better and I sure did. I met these smaller things on four legs, but just ignored them. FM called them kitty cats. We had a nice relaxing evening with FM giving us girls lots of pets and lovins. I slept on a doggy bed right beside my FM's bed and slept clear through the night.
I spent Monday exploring things, but also staying real close to FM. What is a velcro dog? I sure hope that is it something good. When I needed to go outside to potty, I would go to the back door and pace up and down the hallway. If I did not think that FM came quickly enough, I would whine. FM said that I was still stinky and that I may need another bath, but when she got to investigating, she discovered that it was my ears. She tried to clean them, but I would have nothing to do with that noise. But FM said the good doctor would look at them to see what was wrong. I saw those little four legged things again. As long as they were not close, it was ho-hum. But if they walked right by me, I would do this snapping thing at them, but I did not go after them. I just stood there.
On Tuesday FM took me in to get fixed and I still don't think I was broken, but I had to stay at the good doctors for a day and half, so maybe I was broken. What do I know? Well, while I was being fixed, the good doctor extracted one of my teeth and checked out my ears. FM was told that when they check for ear infections that they go by a scale of one to 4 based on how bad it is and she was told that my ears were a "4+ and then some." Because my ears are soooo stinky and they hurt, I think that "4+ and then some" is a REALLY bad ear infection. All I know is that I am taking a couple of different medications and also FM has to put these ear drops in my ears and I DO NOT like that, but FM tells me that they will make my ears better, so it is not a bad thing. Right now, I am not too sure of that. I will let you know later if that is true or not. I weigh 82.2 lbs.and the girl behind the desk at the good doctors said that I only needed to lose a couple of lbs, but FM says that I really need to lose about 10. FM is pretty sure that the good doctor would say that also. I also have this funny indentation behind my right shoulder. That was checked out really well by the good doctor and he said that it looks like it was some kind of an injury that was not taken care of and that is how it healed. It doesn't seem to bother me, it doesn't hurt when I walk and it doesn't hinder my walking. I am in good health and will be really good when the icky's get out of my ears. I go back to the good doctor in three weeks to see how they are doing. So please keep your paws crossed that the icky's are gone or at least way better than they are now. Thanks.
When I got home on Wednesday, I met my two FB's and that went well. They did a sniff sniff and they were off running around in the snow just like I was not even there. I saw those little four legged things again and all was well, even when they got close. So, I think I have decided that they are okay and are not going to hurt me. Boy, this living indoor stuff is just the bestest. I will let you know how I am getting along without my mom and being away from home for the first time. So far, not so bad. Until next time...tata.
FM told me to show you where I had my tooth taken out and all I wanted to do was to show you my beautiful smile. I finally opened up my mouth to show you, but my tongue would not get out of the way. So, I thought I would just wink at you. :)
Well now, if this isn't just the life of Riley. Er oops...the life of Lexi. In the next few pictures you can tell that I have certainly made myself right at home. I have to make up time, you know, from being out there in the cold. A couch is a terrible thing to waste!!!!!!
