Maggie (now named Mabel) was adopted on April 21st to a super-loving family. She has 3 fur siblings, 2 canine and 1 feline. Her new Mom fell in love with her big, brown eyes and happy face. Mabel will definitely be a happy, spoiled girl with lots of attention and the best of care as her Mom is a Certified Vet Technician.
I couldn't have asked for a better home for Mabel. She waited for just the right family to come along and she sure found a perfect one. Congratulations to Mabel and the J family! We miss your ever-happy face and thumping tail.

Maggie seems to love the snow no matter how much the rest of us want spring to come and stay. The first picture shows Maggie deep in thought, or maybe she was busy counting snowflakes. Either way, she can frequently be seen sitting just like this, pondering the sights of the backyard.
Maggie has a family that very much wants to meet her. In fact, we had hoped to do that this weekend, but Mother Nature had other plans. So we hope to meet the family the weekend of April 21/22.
Until then, Maggie says, "Eat snow and it will soon go away!"

With all of the fresh snow the past few days, Maggie decided she needed to give an update. She loves to play in the fresh powder. Foster Dad tried to capture more pictures of her, but once she spied me, she wanted to be right next to me. I wasn't quick enough to get the shot in where she was wiggling on her back in the fresh powder.
An update on her weight loss is that she continues to lose a few pounds. Maggie developed a urinary tract infection, and we were able to get that treated by our wonderful Scott Lake Vet. She was down to 93 pounds at the end of January.
Last weekend, Maggie and the fellow resident dogs made a road trip to Grandma's house to help her celebrate her birthday. We had five dogs and three humans at Grandma's house Saturday night and into Sunday.
Maggie met a family the end of January, but she wasn't the right fit for their dog. There haven't been any Meet-and-Greets in the past month, and the next one is at the end of March. If you think Maggie might be the right match for your family, please submit an Inquiry for Application form.

Now that the holidays are over and the cold winter chill is in the air, it is time to get a new update in on Miss Maggie. You can see that Maggie enjoyed the holidays from this picture. I am not sure if she has visions of lots of dog treats dancing in her head while she rested against this big package, or maybe this was hers and she wasn't going to let one of the other dogs nab it.
Maggie was spayed on December 19 and she also had some mammary tumors removed. Two of the tumors were cysts and the other was a benign growth. We are grateful for the good news on the tumors! Maggie's diet plan is continuing to show more progress. On Dec. 19, she weighed in at 96 ponds, and on Dec. 30, when sutures were removed from the tumor incisions, she was down to 94.6 pounds. The vet would still like her to lose a little more, but it is hard to get out for our walks in the sub-zero temps.
Maggie loved all of the family that gathered at Grandma's house on Christmas Eve. She especially like Foster Dad's youngest nephew. While he was sitting on the couch, Maggie would just walk up to him and put her head in his lap. This, of course, meant he was to pet her, and every time he stopped petting Maggie, she would nose-nudge his hands and look at him with her big brown eyes that begged for more pets. Maggie also got her fair share of pets in from the rest of the family, too!
Now that Maggie has been spayed and all of her medical needs have been met, she is ready for her forever home. She has a family that has expressed interest in her, and they are waiting to have their home visit done. Stay tuned for a future update of a new chapter to Maggie's life!

Maggie thought we had better check in and let her fans know what she has been up to. Well, she helped to entertain Foster Dad and his family for an early Thanksgiving during the weekend of Nov. 18 and 19. She got lots of pets and attention from a houseful of 12 guests and 5 other dogs. She also wowed my 4 friends as we celebrated the real Thanksgiving.
Maggie would move from person to person and enjoy plenty of pets and rubs. For those guests that were seated, she walks right up and put her head on their legs or in their lap. She loves to look up at you with those beautiful, big, brown eyes, and who can resist such a pretty face.
We are still waiting to get the big spay surgery done. The reason for the wait is that Maggie was in a full heat cycle when she came into RAGOM’s care. Hopefully, we will be able to get that scheduled soon. We also need to know how much weight Maggie has lost with her diet and exercise plan.
Maggie loves to carry toys in her mouth. She likes most toys, like a tennis ball, or a Kong Wooba, or her little lamb. She also likes to chew on Nylabones. And we have recently learned that she goes crazy when she hears puppies on the TV or my laptop.

RAGOM fans, please welcome Maggie 17-223A! Maggie is a retired breeder dog that was sold at an auction sale in Missouri on October 21. She, along with 8 other Golden Retrievers and 1 Labradoodle, made their journey back to Minnesota via Scott B. and Denise A. and arrived around 2 AM on Oct 22.
Maggie was 7 years young on June 6 and she weighs just under 105 pounds. Like many of us, we could stand to lose a pound or two before the upcoming holiday season. We started Maggie on a walk routine Sunday morning and have been trying to get as much walking in as we can with shorter daylight hours and unpredictable weather.
Maggie did get a refreshing bath after her first walk. She has been to the vet and had her vaccinations brought up to date. We have yet to get a spay surgery scheduled. Our Maggie girl showed signs of being in heat, and we confirmed this later on our first night in MN.
Maggie loves to carry things in her mouth. So we have to do a mouth check at night before going outside. We have found a number of toys and bones in the backyard after the sun has risen. We also learned quickly that Maggie has a strong prey drive (squirrels, rabbits, etc.). So when we take our walks, we must always have a good grip on her leash as she can pull very hard and fast.
