Profile

In addition to LOVE this dog has the following requirements:
Entered Foster Care Fence Kid Friendly Another Dog Cat Friendly
1/3/2015 Optional, but tie-out & training required Ages 5+ & dog-savvy Optional Yes
This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Our little Miss Maggie joined our clan recently and boy, what a bundle of fun! She has very quickly earned her nickname of Miss Maggie Mayhem and gets into all sorts of puppy mischief.

Maggie was a stray that came into the RAGOM family from a reservation. She is supposedly a Golden mix, but she appears to be much more of a Shepherd mix with golden paws and a golden heart. She came in with whipworms (which she was treated for) and giardia (also treated). She has been brought up-to-date on her vaccines (needs a booster in 3 weeks, though) and microchipped, and currently weighs in at 25 pounds at what the vet is guessing 5 to 6 months of age. She will also be spayed in the near future.

Magpie met our 3 Goldens without an issue, loves to chase the 3 cats in the house, and tries to convince them that all she wants to do is play with them. She gets along great with my kids and absolutely loves loves loves playing ball with them. For being a puppy, she is still figuring out this whole potty outside thing and getting it right about 85% of the time. She does like to counter-surf, so that is another thing we are working on. She is starting to learn her name, but isn't very consistent with it yet. She is a great snuggle bug and certainly enjoys belly rubs!

Maggie May is a puppy yet and with adopting a puppy, she will have some special requirements. She needs someone that is willing to spend the time and energy training her, helping her to grow into a well-mannered dog. I always say that there's a reason that puppies are so cute....it's because otherwise, nobody would put up with their behavior! With lots of love and consistency, Maggie will grow into a wonderful girl....without it, though, she will create lots of havoc before she grows up and possibly afterwards too.

If you are interested in considering Maggie to join your family, please contact your placement advisor....just remember, Maggie is giving puppy kisses for a limited time only!

Hi, fans! It's Maggie!

Guess what?!?! I'm on vacation! I'm staying with some people for a couple of weeks and they have a one-year-old dog that loves to play with me! Life is good here!

The first day here, temp Foster Mom and temp Foster Dad took me and the resident dog for a walk. I pulled so hard that I broke a leather leash! That evening when we went for a walk, they put a Gentle Leader halter on my nose. I don't like it very much because it hurts to pull, but I guess I have to put up with it. I don't pull much anymore, so foster mom and dad are happy.

Want to know my favorite things?

  • I love being near my people so I can give them lots of kisses.
  • I love running. It's especially fun when another dog is chasing me.
  • I love to play fetch. I'll bring the ball back so you can throw it again.
  • I love chewing on bones and playing with tugs and other toys. (I'm still learning what are appropriate toys.)

I would love to find a family that will exercise me and train me to be a good dog. Foster Mom says that dogs, just like kids, don't come fully trained. Think of me as a piece of clay that you get to help mold into a great dog. I am just about potty trained, I take treats really gently and I know "sit." I'm working on mastering "down." My temp foster parents ignore me whenever I jump on them, so I'm starting to realize that I can't get any attention that way. I'm a smart dog and will catch on really quick with consistency.

Want to meet me? I'm sure you'll love me! I'm a happy girl!
