Mason 07-462

Profile

Mason has arrived after a long trek from Minnesota, and he brought with him a major fuzzy butt and toe hair galore!  Mason is a 6 year old neutered male whose family was not able to keep him due to a divorce.  So, he was welcomed into RAGOM with open arms.  Since Mason's arrival he has had a bath and a good ear cleaning!  He is great with dogs, kids, and cats.  He sits nicely and waits for treats and then takes them very gentle.  He is startled easily today but with a change of environment that is normal.  He is housebroken, and does a little circle dance by the door when he needs to go outside.  He loves to be petted especially above his tail!  He even does a little dance and grunts.  He is a silly man!  At this point I would estimate he weighs about 75-80 pounds.  He has beautiful feathering and medium red hair.  Thought I would send a few pictures of him taking a bath.  He even hopped right in!  If you are interested in Mason please contact Placement.  He is going to be a fantastic forever companion!  More updates to come!

We had to say goodbye to Mason very unexpectedly on June 28, 2012. We adopted Mason in August 2007 and had driven to Iowa to meet him at his FM's house and came back to northern Minnesota with a wonderful family member.

Mason was more than wonderful; he was a funny, loving, gentle and dedicated golden. I believe that they really are all like that but each in their own special way. We loved Mason deeply and miss him so much. If I think about how much I miss him, I can't hold back the tears.

For those lucky enough to have a dog in their life, especially a golden, we have known what unconditional love really is. I wanted to also take a moment and thank RAGOM and all of those volunteers who are so dedicated to such a meaningful cause.

Today Mason met his forever family.  They drove over 8 hours one way to meet him!  While he is a little untrusting of men right away, he quickly learned to love his new Dad.  He took treats from him and even flopped down for belly rubs.  I really believe Mason has found the best possible home.  He was a blessing for the short time we had him, and there were tears once he was gone, but they were tears of joy for Mason and the start of his new life with the best possible parents!  Congratulations K and C on your new family member.  May you have many wonderful years with Mason.  Give him a butt rub for me, and tell him welcome home!

Mason has continued to be a real lover.  He went to the vet today and is now up to date and micro chipped.  He did a great job at the vet except for not wanting to be on the slippery table!  We are awaiting his fecal and heartworm results, and will have them later this week.  The vet gave him the all clear health wise, except for an ear infection which we are now treating.  So, Mason is ready for his forever family, and this weekend he is meeting a family who might just be perfect!

Mason's first night in foster care went really well.  As with all fosters we decided to kennel him while we were sleeping just to make sure all went well.  Mason has very clearly been in a kennel before.  When told to kennel up he ran right in and settled for the night.  We did not hear one peep out of him until morning.  I think we will use the kennel until he has settled in, and then see how he does with free roam at night.  He has pretty much stuck by my side, so I have no doubts he will do well left to roam free.  He is always found laying where ever we are.  He is going to be a very loyal companion.

There have been no accidents, so he is fully housetrained, and goes potty every time we take him out.  He is still getting used to being in a house with other animals, but is doing quite well.  He discovered toys this morning, and loves to play tug-of-war.  He grunts and growls, and boy does he sound tough! :)  He even drops a ball when told to 'drop it'.

For those of you who might be interested in Mason, I wanted to let you know he is a tall, broad golden!  He is handsome and has beautiful fur and coloring and by no means acts like a 6 year old dog.  He loves to play and go on walks but is also very laid back.  Here are a few pictures of Mason.  One of him sleeping, and one of the resident cat snuggling with him.  He even got a little kneading on the belly from the cat first!  A few grunts, but I think he liked it!

Let Placement know if you are interested in meeting this golden love bug!
