For Max, in memory of Rusty!! From Jane C.
Max sends a HUUUUGGGGE thank you to Jane C. for the winter icon and donation!
Max continues to be barrel of laughs and is quite similar to having a barrel of monkeys invade your home! After chewing a brand new pair of Sorel boots yesterday, we realized the house was in desperate need of Max-proofing, not your ordinary puppy-proofing. In addition to the boots (did I mention that I loved those boots), there was a day of 'yours truly' being asleep at the wheel. That particular day, Max was able to dismantle the Chromecast by getting tangled in the cable, completely chewed through the cord of our vacuum (it wasn't plugged in) and pouncing on the Roomba so many times that it no longer worked. We really didn't like vacuuming anyway! The funny thing is that he was tethered to me the entire time. We just tell visitors that our favorite color is 'dog hair' when they look at our less than stellar housekeeping and what looks like a furry wood floor. An explanation for Max-proofing or what we call a 'naked house' is necessary...all area rugs are rolled up and stored, all pillows and throws are put away, all floor length curtains are taken down, all accessories are boxed, shoes and boots are left in the garage, etc. Couches, dog beds, dog toys and furry floors are all that remain!

The resident dogs have finally become accustomed to Max sticking around for awhile, despite having an annoying puppy in their face 24/7. Trackr, a.k.a. 'The Puppy Drill Sergeant', lets him know when he is getting out of line. Trackr even takes Max for polite walks around the first floor. Trackr takes the end of the tether, and Max follows willingly. We can't stop laughing whenever the walks start.

Despite arriving in foster care with almost every treatable intestinal parasite known to canines, Max has almost doubled in size in less than two weeks and now weighs a little under 20 lbs. His skin is soft to the touch, and his hair is growing all over. No more bald spots for Mr. Max. He also loves his baths. The best description of his bath love is that he dissolves or melts into the water until only his face sticks out. He also loves being brushed. Max has two speeds, zoom and stop. He does well in his kennel at night so everyone can get a good night of sleep. During the day, however, it is all systems on full accelerator. Mellow is not a word that we would use to describe Mr. Max!

If you read this update, you know how much work a puppy can be. Did I mention how much I miss my boots? Hahaha. So much patience, love and work is needed to raise these little puppies into amazing companions. Two words also come to mind....obedience training!
