Midas 17-154

Profile

Midas is a sweet, creme 10-year-old dog! He is a purebred Golden Retriever, but is more creme! It is hard to tell what his temperament is, because he was neutered two days after we received him. He usually wants to lay on the kitchen floor. He will always check to see where his people are. If you get up, he will follow you to see what you are up to! He has shown some signs of wanting to play. He will put his bottom up in the air and tap his front paws on the floor in a playful way. He will grab a toy every now and then to play with. He does like to chase the toy if you throw it for him. For being TEN, he is in incredible condition. He did have to have a tooth pulled because it was broken. He was previously kept in a "kennel complex" in the basement of a home. I am not exactly sure what that looks like or anything - here at our house, he is kept in a large crate and it is pretty much his safe place! He goes in there on his own and will lay there. He was not fully housebroken when we received him, but he has only had one potty accident in the house, and it was the day he arrived here. He has not had an accident since, and he goes to the door and will paw at it when he has to go outside!

Midas was a wonderful addition to our family while we worked to find him his forever home. He has moved to Iowa and is loving his new life with another Golden Retriever and a fenced-in backyard!! We will miss you, Midas, but know that you are loving your new family!

Midas will be attending the meet-and-greet this Saturday, 10/7 - Open House at All City Pet Care East in Sioux Falls from 12 to 3. Please stop by to say hi!

We are going to warn you there are many pictures in this update! We have been extremely busy and unable to send in an update, but that doesn't stop us from getting pictures of him whenever we can!!

Midas is still just as content as can be! We hardly even notice that he is here because he is so calm. We haven't really found out anything new about him - he just loves everything!! However, one thing we have found that he doesn't like is to go outside if it is lightning or raining! He doesn't have any anxieties with the lightning or rain; he just doesn't want to go outside - but who does?!

He has not had free roam of the house yet while we are gone, because he is still mastering his potty training. He has had one potty accident since our last update, but that is all! We continue to work with him and are confident that when he has a yard with a fenced-in area, he will be good to go!

He does have impeccable hearing. If we turn our DVD player on our WII, he sits there and stares at it because he cannot figure out where the whirring sound of the disc spinning is coming from. It is too cute! He has maybe barked two times since we have had him, and it is when he is playing with a ball by himself. He doesn't bark at people, animals, or anyone coming to the door.

He does sleep in his crate at night, but he would do just fine sleeping in the room with his new family! He always finds himself surrounded by toys, and our little Sullivan always has to be within paw's reach of Midas!

Midas really would LOVE a home where there is a confident large breed dog that he can play with and follow around! He is so very sweet and deserves a wonderful forever home!

Midas is still as sweet as can be. He is fully recovered from his neuter and had his first bath and trim at the groomers. He did wonderfully, and they all fell in love with his sweet demeanor and beautiful color! They said he had no problem with getting a bath and having his paws, ears, face trimmed.

He eats two times a day now - once in the morning and then in the evening as well. He will scratch at the door when he needs to go outside, and he loves to lay on the grass and watch the construction crews building houses behind us!

Midas loves to chew on Nylabones, and there is a favorite one at our house! If Midas leaves it behind, our little pup will sneak into his crate and get it and then go hide under the couch! Midas has no aggression if you take a toy from him. He also doesn't have a problem with you being close to his food while he is eating.

He loves to go on walks and is very calm on a leash. He will chase after a toy if you throw it for him, and then he brings it back and drops it at your feet. We are working on "sit," "lay," "stay," etc. He doesn't know any basic commands, but he is so calm that we are not worried about that. He will learn quickly!

He tries to play with our dogs, but they are so small that they aren't interested! He would love a playmate that is a larger breed and is dominant! He loves everyone and everything. He has never barked when people walk by or someone rings the doorbell. He is a very sweet and calm boy!

Midas has fit into our home wonderfully. He is a sweet, creme-colored Golden Retriever. His papers say that he is 10 years old, but he does not seem close to 10 at all. He loves to play with all of his dog toys and will gather them all up and put them close to where he is laying. He is potty trained for the most part and will go to the door when he has to go outside. He has had two accidents in the house, but that is because he always needs to go outside right when he is let out of his crate! Midas came in to RAGOM with his daughter because their former family could no longer care for them. He was used as a breeding dog, but has been neutered and is almost fully recovered from that procedure! He sleeps in his crate at night and doesn't make a peep. He will also go in his crate voluntarily and bring some toys in with him. Midas will need another large breed, dominant dog in the home that he goes to. Midas needs another dog to show him that it is okay to explore, run around the yard, etc. This past weekend, Midas went to stay with another RAGOM foster. This family has two Golden Retrievers. One is older and she kind of keeps to herself, but the other pup is about 4-5 years old and Midas LOVED him. Midas followed him around. When the other dog would run, Midas would run. Midas even would give the other dog kisses. It was so sweet to go to pick him up and see that he was pretty much glued to this dog's side. His sitters also had a group gathering at their house, and Midas did great around all of the people! He was a little hesitant for a couple of minutes and then was just fine!
