Mike came into our home eager to please. He immediately took to our family, child who is 7, dogs, and cats. He was surrendered because his surrendering owner thought he deserved more attention, which he is getting plenty of!! Mike is an 82-pound Golden mix, fully house trained and goes to the door to let you know it is time to go potty….or squirrel watching. His energy level was high upon arrival, but has calmed down the more comfortable he gets. Mike is crate trained, but loves to take an occasional nap in a comfy chair. He sleeps through the night and is perfectly fine while we are at work. I am sure he could be trusted with free roam, but I prefer to keep him safe in his crate until he is more at ease.

I do not want to leave out how much Mike loves to go on walks with his foster dad. He walks very well on a Gentle Leader and also without. He enjoys car rides, and lays down in the back seat until you reach your destination. Mike will bark when the door bell rings, but does not bark outside while our neighbor dogs bark at him.

Mike needs a physical fence in his permanent home. He would be happy as the only dog or with another dog. He respects my resident dogs' space. Mike also is very good with children

Mike is anxiously awaiting his forever home I keep telling him about. I promised him he will be loved, walked, and brushed by a family of his own.

Updates

Hi, Mike here, checking in, again. My foster mom tells me I bloomed like a flower and she is very proud of the handsome boy I have become! She says I am much more confident than I was when I arrived here. I really love all this attention I am receiving. I let foster mom clean my ears and brush me. She even found a spot on my neck that makes me fall asleep.

I try to keep my foster dad busy by taking him on walks. I am really getting used to this. On the way home from our walks, I can lead him right to our house! At night when he is watching TV, me and my foster dog sisters lay right next to him, keeping him warm.

My foster brother is so good to me. I follow him around the house and now I sleep with him at night. He says I keep him safe, but I really think he is keeping me safe. Maybe foster mom and dad will let me take him to my new home.

I may have some exciting news. My foster mom showed me a picture of a wonderful family who is interested in me. The best part is there are two kids!! My tail wagged with joy. They are coming a long way just to meet me; I guess I am pretty special.

Updates will keep coming….just so I can show off how cute I am.

Hi, Mike here, checking in. My foster mom says I have to take a break from playing with my foster family to write an update. I have a feeling she is going to have me update a lot. So here goes:

I do not show any aggression, chew, or counter surf. I get along very well with my foster family, resident dogs, and cats. I go to the door and let out a small bark when I want to go outside, no accidents in the house! I am the perfect foster dog. My foster human brother, who is 7, has friends over, and I just hang out with them, because they pet me.

I really love all this attention people give me. I know simple commands, and when I show them, I get a treat!! I hear my foster parents talk about what a good dog I am, and I am going to make a family really happy. My foster dog sisters really like me too; I like to take naps with them.

My foster mom brushes me and tells me how handsome I am. My foster human brother is very kind to me, and I return the affection by lying by him and putting my head in his lap so he can rub my ears. I also hear my foster family refer to me as a “ham” and I am a perfect foster.

My foster mom and dad have been testing me with free roam for short periods while they are away. I guess I passed their test because they keep trusting me.

I do not jump up on new people when I am excited, I just wait for them to pet me, which they always do. My foster dad takes me on long walks and I walk so well, I don’t pull, I let him lead the way.

I am so anxious for this golden life my foster mom tells me about. She puts me to bed every night, rubbing my paws, telling me I will find a forever home. If you want to meet me, because I want to meet you, contact your placement advisor.
