Missy 08-226

Profile

Missy is a 7 year old, deep golden red purebred Golden Retriever.  She is around 80 pounds.  We are not sure if she is spayed, but will find out when we go into the vet this week.  She seems to have an ear infection in her right ear, which we will also get meds for when we go to the vet.  She was surrendered due to her family moving to a place that doesn't allow dogs her size.

Missy is very sweet, has done well with our 3 female resident dogs, 2 cats and 2 kids (5 and 8).  Toys and bones don't seem to interest her, she would rather snuggle up to us on the sofa.  She also doesn't really care for treats, but I did try some homemade dog cookies on her, and she really enjoyed those!  She knows a few tricks:  sit, down, shake, speak, and maybe rollover (we're still trying to figure out the commands that were taught her).  She is house trained, no accidents, and we give her free roam during the night and when we leave the house.  She does not resource guard.  She is used to long walks everyday.  She does pull, but using a Gentle Leader worked wonders on her.

Missy is just a joy to foster.  She's potty trained, has basic obedience, loves to walk and ride in the car, gets along well with my dogs, cats and kids.  She loves to snuggle on the sofa, but refuses to get up on the bed, no matter how much we invite her.  She prefers instead to sleep on the floor of our bedroom.

She goes in on Tuesday to get spayed, get her teeth cleaned, and to have a small cyst removed from her chest.

She enjoys long walks, and does best with a Gentle Leader.  She currently weighs 93 pounds, and the vet would like her to lose around 15.  She does have a yeast infection in her right ear, and I think it feels much better now that she has meds for it.

We have not had anymore dumpster diving incidents, of course, we are now pretty vigilant about taking the garbage out right away if anything tempting is in it!
