Mukwah 05-419

Profile

12/18/05: Introducing Mukwah! We are told his name means ?bear? in Ojibwa. Mukwah is about 1 ? years old and is a Golden Retriever/German Shepard mix. We picked him up this afternoon after another RAGOM volunteer transported him from northern Minnesota. His owner rescued him from an ex-boyfriend and was unable to keep him because she already has several dogs of her own. Mukwah is mostly black, but has a few golden markings on his face and paws. He looks a little skinny and I think he could stand to put on about 10 pounds.

Mukwah will visit the vet tomorrow evening. If he gets a clean bill of health, he will be neutered Tuesday. This means, he could be a part of your family by Christmas! Email placementatragom [dot] org if you are interested in meeting Mukwah! I know he?s looking forward to meeting you!

Good afternoon,

Our family adopted Mukwah from RAGOM in 2006. Today surrounded by his family, with petting and love he passed away from natural causes. He lived to a ripe old age, we were told when we adopted him he with either 1 1/5 - 3 when we got him which means he was either 12 - 15.

Over the last year his ability to go on long walks declined, but he loved a good walk to the end of the block and back with lots of rolling in between. He made immediate friends with everyone who came in - especially if they had food. He brought so much love and joy to our lives. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to have Much be a part of our family.

With Gratitude,

Charity L.

Mukwah continues to be a joy to have around. He traveled with us for Christmas and met many new people and dogs. He was very well behaved and got along great with everyone. In fact, he’s so great we’ve had many conversations about adopting him ourselves. However, if we kept him it would mean the end of our fostering career and we’re just not ready to give that up yet.

I do need to clear up one misconception about Mukwah. My son’s girlfriend said that his pictures on the webpage don’t do him justice. She couldn’t believe how cute he really is when meeting him personally. In fact, everyone who meets him comments on what a cute face he has. I tried to get some better pictures of him to capture his true look, but I think the best way to look at him is in person!
