Meet Pretty Boy, a year-and-a-half-old male Golden Retriever/Shepherd mix. He is neutered, up-to-date on all his shots and is on heartworm and flea and tick preventatives. He has been microchipped. I just have spent my first week with this guy and he is amazing in most every way. We don't know a lot about him. He was a stray, but has been well taken care of. He, for the most part, is house trained (we did have a couple of accidents at first) and knows "sit," "lay down," "shake," and needs some work on "stay." He does not guard his food, toys, or bones. He is crate trained, loves car rides, and loves to be petted and loved. He takes treats out of your hand with care. He is a very beautiful dog with a "Golden" face and paws, with black on his body and black and gold hips. He, for the most part, does not shed. Walks well, but if he sees something, he will pull. On a walk, we heard some thunder and it did not bother him. He has not yet been cat tested, but likes other dogs and wants to play. He will bite (with a soft bite) at your fingers to get you to pet him. The last few nights, he has had the house to roam and he sleeps on the tile by the front door. I left him alone for an hour today and found nothing out of place. He will grab your shoes and put them with his toys. He will not chew on them, but feels they need to be with his things. I bring him to work with me and he dose very well with customers. I have 2 front doors and watched to see if he would try to make a run for it. Not at all, he spends a lot of the day looking out the windows and when people come in, he lets them come up to him. I had three families with kids one day, 6 kids total and he let every child pet him and play with him. I was in the shop and came up front and found a customer sitting on the floor with him. He had his head laying in her lap and she just loved him. Asked how to adopt him. He still has puppy in him, but is a great dog and will make someone a perfect pet. We did do a RAGOM meet-and-greet this last weekend and he did fine with the other dogs and let everyone there pet him. I was a little worried for he was about 24 hours out of his surgery for his neutering, but he did well. I keep him on a tie-out in the backyard when I am out there and he is fine with it, but I feel he would be much happier with a fenced yard. I have a open field in the backyard with deer, rabbits, and several pheasants. In the evenings, we sit out there. Pretty Boy lays and just watches. However, when a deer is close, he gets up and I grab his collar. I sense he wants to run and chase the deer.

I have had this great dog for 3 weeks now. I take him to work every day and my customers love this guy. He is great with all people, loves kids, and is just an all-around happy puppy. He still has a lot of puppy in him as I woke up and went to shower and my soap was gone. I found it in the living room and about half had been eaten. He will take things out of the trash for me and he will counter surf; I found teeth marks in the butter one morning. He is a very smart dog and he knows when he has done wrong. All you need to do is call him and he crawls to you with those big sad eyes. Every morning when my alarm sounds off, he jumps up on the bed and lays his head on my face and tells me he is ready for his morning rub. Such an easy-going dog who will never turn down a pet or to play games with his toys. He loves to lay in the shade in the grass most evenings. He still has had some accidents and I am not sure why; he gets out more than enough. We are still working on that. Still trying to get him cat tested and next week to the lake.
