Quix (ryhmes with Twix) came to our house on August 2, 2014 after several Golden Doodles came into RAGOM's care through a good samaritan in Iowa. His Date of Birth is November 3, 2013 and he has been fully vetted, weighs around 50lbs, is microchipped and will be neutered on August 13th. After Quix recovers from his neuter surgery he will be ready to meet potential adopters. 

Although Quix spend the first nine months of his life in a breeding facility he is a total sweethart and follows us everywhere. He loves carrying a tennis ball in his mouth, giving kisses and laying at your feet like a typical Golden. We took him to the vet within 48 hours of arriving at our house since not much was known about his health. He did not like it when the vet tried to look in his ears-he growled and snapped but has been fine with us cleaning his ears and putting drops in them at our home. He also had one scuffle with our resident dog on day 4 at our house over a dog cookie but he has settled into a peaceful routine with our resident dog since then. We have seen no other evidence of resource guarding with food and we can take his food dish away from him just fine. We feed him in the same room at the same time as our resident dog and there have been no issues.

Quix does not seem to be bothered by loud noises or storms. When he came to our house he did not know what doors or steps were or how to jump in and out of a car. He has mastered the steps and doors and is working on the jumping in and out of the car thing. He rides really well in the car, does not mouth or nip, does not jump up on people, and is very good on a flat leash with no pulling. Unfortunately, he came to our home with no name and no understanding of what sit, stay, or leave-it means. He is very intelligent though and will catch up quickly in his furever home. He does not bark inappropriately while out on walks at other dogs or people but he is a good watch dog if someone comes to our door. When Quix meets new people for the first time he is a bit unsure but after a few minutes warms up. Within 2 days of being at our house he became our shadow and he becomes anxious if we go outside in the yard without him. He just wants to be with his people at all times and will make an excellent family dog. I have him listed for older children only because we do not have children in our home to test him with and we are not sure how much socialization with children he has had in the past.

We crate him during the day which he doesn't like but he settles down within a few minutes of us leaving the house. At night he sleeps on the floor of our room or on a dog bed and does not try to jump up on furniture including the bed. He can go 9 hours without going outside and is 95% potty trained. Quix does fine outside on a tie out and does not need a fence. And I have saved the best for last-Quix hardly sheds!
