Welcome to the RAGOM family little Robbie!
Robbie 14-258 was born on 06/19/14 and comes to us from South Dakota. He has had his first round of puppy shots, is being neutered/microchipped this Friday the 22nd, and will soon be ready for his forever family.
This sweet little guy is full of puppy energy! He loves to run, eat, poop, pee, chew, poop, pee and pee and pee.
Puppies are a lot of work, in fact, they are a full time job! If you have been getting 8 hours of sleep a night-well, forget it. This little guy does not like to sleep through the night. He gets let outside to pee/poop at about 10:30pm at night, then is placed in his kennel to sleep (he will bark and squeak), he gets put outside again between 2:30-3:30am, since his tiny bladder cannot hold anything for more than a couple hours, and then, sometime in the morning when you decide to wake-up, prepare to give poopy Robbie a bath and clean his kennel J This will pass once Robbie’s body grows bigger and he starts to mature. In the morning after his bath, he demands that you hold him-so get prepared to learn how to cook breakfast one handed, as well as getting ready for the day with Robbie in one arm and whatever else in the other. Robbie has a tiny bladder and has many accidents in the house, but we are working on house-training him with plenty of outside time and rewards!
Robbie loves to go for walks and walks great on a leash. He gets to meet all sorts of new people and dogs, which is crucial for puppies! This is the most important time to socialize your new puppy with adults, kids, dogs, puppies and new sounds/ environments daily! Prepare to bring your puppy to puppy classes, obedient classes, play dates, etc.
Robbie loves to chew right now. Anything and everything! You might think your house is “puppy proof” until you see him chewing on your brick fireplace, kitchen cabinets, appliances, floors, rocks, furniture...everything. You must realize that with a puppy, you can never leave them out of your sight…it’s like having a new born and a toddler in a room at once-Full time job.
After running around chasing your new puppy all day, you will have the most precious moments you will cherish as he sleeps in your arms-ohhh the peace and quiet. If you work full time and believe you want another full time job of raising a puppy, be prepared to come home throughout the day, or find someone to let your puppy out, as they cannot sit in a kennel all day. Also, if you have little kids at home remember that puppies have very sharp teeth, have a lot of energy and don’t understand that little toes and fingers are not chewables.
If you have lots of time, patience, love and feel as though no one is more perfect than you for Robbie, please contact your placement advisor and let them know you are in love with Robbie 14-258
