Profile

10/19/05: Sam has been with us for about 24 hours now. What a sweet, wiggly boy! Every time he comes to greet you -- his back end just wiggles, wiggles, wiggles!

Sam has been well cared for and is very well-mannered. He has previously lived with two large dogs and a dog-friendly cat. He met our small dog and 2 non-dog-friendly cats without incident last night. From what we have seen (and been told) he is completely housebroken and can be left home with free roam. He doesn't get on furniture and sleeps on the floor by the side of the bed. There's not room for Sam to lay under the desk when we're using the computer, so instead he lays right behind the chair. It makes getting up from the chair a little challenging, but he just wants to be by his people. When you sit on the floor and pet him, he's pretty sure that he should be a lap dog - he just can't decide which is a more effective approach - putting his head or his butt in your lap.

This afternoon we went for a walk with the gentle leader. Oh man was that funny. Sam did not like the gentle leader, so he did the usual pawing, rubbing and scratching for the first block. By the 2nd block he would stop and tip his head down like he was going to try again and then would just stop and keep walking - it looked like he was thinking "Oh! A new plan of attack...no, wait...I already tried that one...darn!" I don't think that he appreciated the fact that we were laughing at him, not with him. It's hard to say if he actually walks better on a Gentle Leader or if he's just too distracted by *that thing on his nose* to pull on the leash. We'll keep working on it.

This loveable boy won't last long. Contact placementatragom [dot] org if you want to meet him!
