Sam and his Forever Family have found each other! He has his own mom and dad who are semi-retired and live on a lake. They have lots of time and love to give Sam. Enjoy your Forever Home living the Golden Life, Sam!

Goldendoodles are "people dogs" and need the companionship of their people. Sam needs to be exercised both mentally and physically. He should receive at least 60 minutes of exercise (amount split between a morning and an evening walk). He also needs lots of mind games, such as finding a toy or playing fetch.

Sam is good inside the house. He is toilet trained, doesn’t chew on furniture, has free roam, and does not bark much. We think he would be fine if left alone for a full work day. He is fine with cats and other dogs, but he could also be an only dog.

Sam is gentle, good-natured, and good-looking. When told to sit first before receiving a treat, he has a gentle mouth. He likes toys, balls, and bones. He is content to lay on his dog bed in the family room while we watch the television in the evenings.

Sam has been enjoying learning to be a good family member in our home. We are greeted with tail wagging and head snuggles during morning wake-up. He still has to be supervised during meal times, but no longer attempts to snatch food from other dogs’ bowls. As a tall, but gentle, dog, he has more to learn, in terms of manners and boundaries.

During walks with Sam, we have noticed he seems unfamiliar with being in the woods and around water. He was apprehensive about crossing over a two-foot-wide creek and walking on a board walk. He is willing to try, when coaxed, however, and his knowledge of the outdoor world is gradually increasing. He has not gone swimming yet, but will go up to his chest while eagering awaiting one of our resident dogs to bring back a stick. He loves to play fetch. And, he is slowly getting used to being in a car.

Sam is a tall, handsome Golden Retriever and Poodle mix. He has a sweet and gentle disposition with super soft fur. He would make a wonderful companion to a family with older children or no children. He needs lots of love, mental stimulation, and physical activity. He gets along well with other dogs and cats and does not need a physical fence.

As a younger dog, Sam still needs guidance for general manners, including not jumping on people when excited - he is responsive to directions. He has a slight limp on his front left leg from a prior fracture, which gets slightly worse after walks. The RAGOM vet said the fracture healed well and that Sam is in good health. His vaccinations were brought up to date.

Sam has been with us for over a week and has settled in nicely with our family routines. His shaved fur is beginning to grow out into curly locks. We look forward to finding the perfect family for Sam.
