Hello, my name is Scout and I am so excited to reintroduce myself! I am healthy 5 year old, purebred golden weighing 59 lbs, with long legs (which would be great for running), and I have the best manners. I arrived at my Foster home about a week ago and boy oh boy have I impressed them. I was returned to RAGOM due to getting nervous around children, so my forever home needs to be an adult only household. Other than that requirement, I have been a perfect gentleman at my new foster house!!
Let me tell you about what is going on in my life…When I first came to my Foster home, I had to check this place out, but I also made sure I showed my manners. I am housetrained, no accidents for me! I enjoy playing in the snow, so I let my FM (Foster Mom) and FD (Foster Dad) know by whining a little bit by the front door. We like to take walks together, but I wear a Gentle Leader as my FM says I pull at times, something I am working on. Sometimes they pick up the pace, so we start running and I love it. I would love to run, run, run!! But this white stuff can get slippery for my foster family, so we have to slow down. It’s like they don’t know how to handle the winters around here!! Don’t worry I’ll help them learn. I enjoy playing with my Kong and it even sometimes has treats in it. I have to admit that I am pretty good at getting them out in record time! I like to be close to my people, but I also enjoy hanging out on my comfy bed, watching the cars go by thru the big window, or in front of the heat vent. Boy that feels good! I like to lean into them to get some attention or I like to sit and put my paw on them, that usually gets their attention too. When FM and FD go to work, I get this tasty bone in which makes me so happy that I have to prance around the house with it. When they get home I am so excited to see them, I just can’t hold still. My body wiggles, my tail wags, and I show my pearly whites in the biggest smile you’ve probably seen from a four-legged friend! We had a guest come over last night and I made sure I greeted him with tons of smiles and wiggles when he came to the door. I am happy to have another set of hands to pet and give me love! I tried to meet the neighbor dog today (she was outside helping her Dad shovel), but she wouldn’t come close enough for me to sniff! She is pretty small and was wearing some silly sweater, so I must have made her nervous. Maybe the next time there is snow we can try to meet again!!
Well, I suppose I should get back to getting some attention from my two legged friends…or maybe a nap on my bed in the sun sounds delightful, oh the options I have. Thank you for reading about me as I am very excited to find my furever home! I hope all of you are enjoying that fresh white stuff outside!
Oh wait, my FM says she should probably say a few things about me too, so she’s stealing the computer from me…
FM here: Scout has been with us for the past week and we are enjoying the opportunity to get to know him. We wanted to give you a little overview of what we know about him so far. He loves attention, but also likes his naps too. He knows, sit, shake, lay down and off. He does pull on a regular leash, but does better on a Gentle Leader. He is house trained and has had full roam of the house without needing to be crated. He would love to sit on the couch or sleep in bed with you, if invited. Scout did great in the car ride to the vet and also once we got there. He did his wiggly smile greeting for the vet staff as well. He had no trouble while the vet checked out his paws, teeth, ears, etc. Everything is good to go. He does get excited when he sees another dog and wants to play. His SO (surrendering owner) had another dog in the house for him to play with so he is good with dogs. However, I believe he would do fine as the only dog as well. Scout needs to have an adult only home as children make him nervous. He is great with adults though! We have not tested him with cats. Stay tuned for more as we continue to enjoy Scout and learn more about him. If you would like to meet him, just let your Placement Advisor know and I’m sure we can set up a meeting!!
