What a change 1 month has done for Sparky. He is actually a pretty mellow 2.5 yr old and has settled into his foster home so nicely. He was already pretty perfect but now a month later, he is the most wonderful amazing dog. His exciting energy levels he had for the first few weeks has now mellowed out. Since he has a routine now I believe he feels safe and secure and there is no need to bolt past you from room to room. Sparky would make a phenomenal companion or a great 2nd dog addition. I can tell you though, Sparky is so mellow and laid back when it is just his humans and him, whereas other dogs around are just a 24/7 play-date opportunity to him so that's when his energy tends to come out more. :)
A typical day for Sparky:-He wakes up tail wagging and a huge smile wanting his morning pets more so than his breakfast!-After eating he spends about an hour playing with his foster brother outside loving up every moment.-He will then lay at foster mom's feet as she works in her office all day-If foster mom is doing laundry he loves to watch and then follow to every room watching you put things away-He might find foster brother a couple times throughout the day as well to play for a smidgen off and on-After dinner he usually goes outside to romp around and check things out and then he get's to go for a walk, which he loves!-The rest of the night he just lays and snoozes wherever his humans areSparky is an all around amazing dog. He has the sweetest Golden personality, 100% house trained, great manners, fast learner, cuddler, beautiful, and no health issues.

Sparky has been with us for 3 weeks now and this is what I can say about Sparky:
Sparky Loves to play with other dogs. If you have a dog make sure that they love to constantly play as well otherwise Sparky's energy has the possibility to irritate the more mellow layed back dogs.Sparky is a FAST learner. Sparky understands now it is not nice to jump up on people and wrap his arms around you, and instead he will sit right away to tell you he wants pets :) Also he knows it is not ok to hump people. But YOU HAVE to understand all of this learning and teaching for Sparky is up to YOU to continue to follow along and be consistent with, otherwise everything he is learning in his foster home is going to go out the door.So that being said if YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO TRAIN, you are not willing to love Sparky.
Sparky loves water! He still isn't sure about swimming and pools, but I brought him to the lake and he just loved every moment of it. Each moment he went further and further into the water.Sparky has free roam. Sparky does not get into anything he isn't suppose to. His favorite place to hang out is at the top of the steps.Sparky does not get on the furniture unless you invite him. He does love to cuddle! He thinks he is a lap dog :) If you let him on the bed with you, good luck getting him off. He is in heaven when he is able to cuddle with you-he just want's to be loved :)Sparky will be cat tested this weekend and I'm hoping he loves them, so stay tuned.

Did I mention how much I LOVE Sparky!? He is such a wonderful dog he makes my heart melt:)
Sparky got to go on a trip to the lake and he LOVED it! He loves water and he got more gutsy by the minute treading out further and further through the waves. He probably would have gone swimming if I let go of his leash :) I know at Sparky's last home they let him free roam and he never ran away and I'm sure once Sparky learns the boundaries and also learns his new home and he's safe there that you will have no problem letting him off leash :) Just time and little training with Sparky and he will literally be the PERFECT dog.Sparky now gets free roam of the house and he does great! You don't have to worry about him getting into stuff he shouldn't...at least so far. When Sparky has free roam his favorite place to hangout is at the top of the steps. He feels like the king of the castle! Actually he is whining a little as I'm downstairs typing this, because he wants someone to come hang out with him on the top of the steps lol I think he prefers the carpet over the hard floors as his legs tend to slip on the hard floors :(Also what I learned about Sparky...he LOVES to cuddle. If you invite him on the bed he will get as close to you as he can (lap dog) and will not move! He will stay there the rest of the day, because he feels so cozy and safe :) He just wants to be loved and to be able to love you back.

Sparky 14-185 learned that a pool is not a puddle and you can't just walk on top of the water from the deep end :) So long story short, Sparky loves water, but he just doesn't know how dogs swim. You can tell he wants to learn as he lays on the side of the pool dangling his feet in watching his foster brother swim...some day he'll learn!
Sparky got a bath and he liked every moment of it! Especially the shampoo part...it was like a massage! He would have stood there for hours.
Sparky also likes car rides. He just sits and stares out the window which makes a great ride along partner.Sparky got to meet a human today :) Sparky ran up to meet her, sat down so politely and then was a little unsure and nervous with his tail in between his legs and submissive peeing :( I think since this is all so new to him he wasn't sure if someone was going to take him away and if he was safe. It sure didn't take too long for him to realize he was safe and that tail never stopped wagging, even if it was in between his legs.Sparky is already doing so much better with his jumping on you. He usually sits right away in front of you telling you he wants to be petted. Only once or twice a day he will need to be reminded you can't invite yourself up on someone but it is all about being consistent and you couldn't have a better dog than Sparky to teach :)
He hasn't quite caught on the, don't bolt through doorways in front of your human, but again I think as long as you stay consistent with training and once Sparky is settled into his new home and feels safe that he won't feel the need to rush!
