I'm so glad you decided to read about Stella! She is a 3-year-and-9-month-old, 70-pound, long-legged, cream-colored Goldendoodle who was surrendered to RAGOM not because she was unwanted, but because her family loved her and wanted what was best for her. After fostering her for nearly two weeks, I can see how difficult that decision was, but doing what is best for our pets is what rescue is all about.

Stella has seizures, and she would only do best with a family that can be home with her a large part of the time. Her surrendering family was gone during the day, and Stella was left at home with her fur brother with full run of the house, so she got herself into a few bad situations. She is not accustomed to being crated, so that will not work for Stella, and I must say it is completely unnecessary!

Here are some facts about this sweet girl:

  • Stella does not jump fences or dig.
  • She does not show any aggression towards people, children, or other dogs; she is more submissive.
  • Loves puppies! Played ever so gently with 2 puppies, a 9-week old Maltese and 9-week old Cockapoo!
  • She walks beautifully on a flat leash; no Gentle Leader necessary.
  • She sleeps all night on a dog bed in my bedroom, and stays off furniture and beds.
  • No door busting, counter surfing, or garbage diving.
  • Takes treats ever so gently and patiently waits for breakfast and dinner.
  • Not destructive, not even destuffing!

She is a perfect lady, with a disposition to match. She has a medicine schedule very easily managed, so if you are interested in Stella, I would be happy to talk with you about this wonderful girl. She is an elegant Doodle and is a typical happy girl 95% of the time. She just needs someone to care for and love her a little bit more during that mildly challenging 5%.

Please continue to follow Stella. She is starting to become more and more comfortable here, so I am sure there is more to report! Stand by!

Updates

Thursday, March 9, 2017

Time for an update on Miss Stella! She is settling in just fine and one of the sweetest fosters I have had to date. I have included some pictures and have asked Stella to say a few words.

Foster Mom has asked me to send a quick update! She is really keeping me busy! They say that it is a good thing to keep me active, with my condition. I feel really good every day and am only told about what happens to me. Generally, I am sleeping when it happens. All I know is that when I wake up, FM is saying sweet things to me, and it makes me feel all better... and I'm hungry!

Anyhoo, this weekend, I got to go on a long walk in the woods with Taffee the Cockapoo puppy and play with my Foster brother Cola and my boyfriend Charlie next door. He's a chocolate color and so handsome. I wait by the gate for him to come see me. He is soooo cute. FM calls him Arturo (I guess Overboard is one of her favorite movies), so that must make me Catarina!

AND FM brought home a puppy on Sunday that looks just like me when I was little, but he's black and kind of obnoxious. I let him take my chewies and toys, because I like puppies. FM says I am such a good girl. Gotta run...

Playing with the new puppy

Stella has had three seizures since she has been with me. They are less than two minutes, and her recovery lasts for a short time, that is noticeable, of course.

She is so very gentle with the new Doodle puppy. I think she worries about him when he is in his kennel. Cola and Stella are best buddies, too!

Stella will make a wonderful soulmate for a loving family. You know we all have a certain bond with our dogs, but I was reading about dogs with seizures, and it read "We form a special bond with our seizure dogs, perhaps due to the extra special care they must be given" and I can totally see that. Even though Stella will be leaving here with her very own forever family, I will always have, and remember, my special feelings for her.
