Dawn hit the jackpot with her adoptive family from Iowa. She will have a Mom and Dad, 2 two-legged sisters, and a fur-sister to play with. Congratulations to the J. family! I miss you already, Dawn. You are one special dog!

Dawn continues to be the best houseguest! One thing she has always done is she sits immediately at my feet when she comes to me, even if it is just for pets. When I took her to the vet to have her stitches removed, she did that to every vet tech who came to say hi to her and also to the Vet. Everyone there loves her, and a few asked about adopting her! Dawn was treated for tape worms after we got rid of the whip worms.
Jumping out of the car still makes Dawn stop and think about it. I found that if I leave the leash on her and guide her down, she will jump. I was taking the leash off when we were in the garage, thinking she would get tangled on it while jumping, but she wants it on. I still have not cat-tested her yet, so will need to do that soon.
Dawn has started wrestling with my resident male dog outside. He is bigger than her, but she doesn’t care! She isn’t in such a hurry to come back in now that it is warming up. One bad thing she has started doing is eating the poop of my female dog, so now I pick it up immediately. She loves to chew on sticks. The first time I had let her alone for a few hours, she decided to taste the corner of my end table. I sprayed it with Bitter Yuck, and she hasn’t touched it again. She needs to have bones around because she loves to chew. Dawn only barks when she sees a dog walking past the house or if she sees the neighbor’s dog.
Dawn was checked out to a wonderful family, but they were given the opportunity to rescue a Golden in their city who had to find a new home and was living outside. That is one lucky dog to be adopted by this family! Dawn is now available for adoption again. She wants to find a forever home where she will get a lot of love and attention. My grandsons loved her because she would snuggle with them!
If you think Dawn would be a great match for your family, please submit an "Inquiry for Application" form.
If you have already filled out an "Inquiry for Application" form, please send an email to applicationragom [dot] org with the Dawn's name, her RAGOM number, the name you submitted the Inquiry for Application form under, and a sentence or two why you feel you'd be a good match.

I would like to introduce you to Dawn, a beautiful 4-year-old female purebred Golden Retriever. She was surrendered to RAGOM from a commercial breeder in MO because she had vaginal hyperplasia and she couldn’t be bred anymore. Once she is spayed, the hyperplasia will be taken care of.
Here she is on her ride from MO to MN with a Bull Mastiff who went to another rescue. We have a wonderful volunteer who drives down to MO whenever there is another dog ready to be set free and begin the Golden Life! Dawn thanks you!!
Thank you, Patty, for cleaning Dawn up when she arrived in MN and letting her stay at your house for the first 2 days until I could take her!
While in MO, Dawn spent the first 4 years of her life in a kennel, but luckily, she was socialized by the breeder’s family. She is a friendly, loving Golden who craves human attention. She met my dogs with no problems, but wasn’t really interested in them. She continues to follow me around and is always by my side. She will need another confident dog in her forever home that she can learn from.
One thing my dogs have taught her is to bark at the neighbor’s dog when he is outside, so we have changed her fence requirement to have a physical fence. In the house, Dawn will play with toys by herself and loves to chew on bones.
She weighs 73 pounds and is now up to date on shots and was spayed on Jan. 10th. When Dawn came into RAGOM, she had yeast infections in her ears and had whipworms. Dawn, like most dogs, hates the dreaded cone! I have to take her back to the vet in a week to have the stitches removed.
One thing that Dawn isn’t quite sure of yet is jumping out of my car when we are in the garage. I found that if we are in a parking lot, she will come right out, so it must be the snow blower and patio chairs in the garage that scare her. She doesn’t like wooden steps, but is getting used to carpeted steps.
I have not cat-tested her yet, but will do that soon. Dawn has never had an accident in the house. She starts pacing back and forth and comes over to me when she has to go outside. I let my dogs outside on a regular schedule (when they wake up, after they’ve eaten, and before bed) and many times in between, so she fit right into our schedule. As soon as she has done her business, she runs right back to the door to come back in unless I am outside with them; then she runs over to see what I am doing.
Notice in the picture of Dawn sleeping in the dog bed that she sometimes sleeps with her eyes partially open so she doesn’t miss anything. Dawn is now ready to find her forever home where she will get a lot of love and attention. Dawn is a real love bug and loves people!
