In addition to LOVE this dog has the following requirements:

 8/17/16 Required  10+  Optional  Yes
This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Introducing One Very Happy Dog !  Tiki is a purebred female Golden Retriever fostered in Bloomington, MN. She is a 10 year old, 69 pound bundle of loving teddy bear!  She has a sweet personality and is very energetic and playful for a senior dog. She loves her people and enjoys snuggling up to them for lots of attention!  Tiki is fully housebroken, does not need a crate and has been given free roam of our home with no problems.  She has had very good manners since coming to our home. Tiki seems to have made herself right at home and she has been an easy house guest!

Tiki had a great vet check- up and is very healthy.  She does have hot spots and seems to itch quite a bit, possibly due to allergies. Tiki will need to be spayed, and will be unavailable for adoption until she has had that done.  Something cute we noticed about Tiki right away is how she crosses her paws when she is laying down.  It is almost as if she is praying or that she is laying down very “properly”!  It is really sweet.  She also has a very long tongue and when she is panting, it hangs out of her mouth in the most enduring way! Tiki does have storm anxiety and needs lots of TLC when thunder is booming.

Tiki is friendly with other dogs and wants to play with them. Our resident senior dog does not want to play much anymore. Tiki continues to try, but is respectful when our resident has had enough rough housing.  She has a good sense of other dogs around her.  She also loves kids and would play for a long time.  The reason for the child ages 10+ requirement is only because Tiki is a strong, energetic dog and could knock over a smaller child. She also barks very little.

One of Tiki’s passions is to ride in the car and she will jump in to go anytime she has the opportunity.  She LOVES to go for car rides!  She also loves to go for walks. She will pull on the leash out of excitement for a little while, but then walks very nicely on a leash.

Tiki knows general commands but does not have great recall if she gets off the leash.  Her SO has let us know that she will run if let off her leash.  Because of this, we believe a fenced yard or tie out is very important for Tiki to do well.

All in all, this is a gem of a dog! If you are looking for a sweet, gentle, energetic, teddy bear kind of dog, Tiki is your girl!  We will keep you updated as to when Tiki will be available for adoption.

Tiki continues to be our love bug and nudges us every chance she gets for attention. She was spayed this past weekend and is bouncing back quickly. The hardest thing right now is keeping her low key during her recovery.  She just wants to run and play and doesn’t believe she just had surgery!   Speaking of running, that is this beautiful girl’s challenge. She will run from the yard and keep running if she is not in a fenced yard, gets loose off her leash, or “sneaks” out a door that has not been shut tightly. She seems to look for opportunities to run, so the owner of this sweet girl will need to have a fenced yard or tie out run.  Tiki rarely, if ever, barks in the house.  She has, however, found a new love for hearing her voice outdoors. She gets so excited to be outside that sometimes she likes to bark for no apparent reason.  She is just so happy she barks!

Tiki would do well in an active home, possibly with another dog who likes to play, and a fenced yard to allow her to be safe and enjoy the outdoors as much as she does. She will make a wonderful, loyal, teddy-bear-like companion to a very lucky family!!
