Welcome Whiskey to  RAGOM ! Whiskey is a very handsome golden retriever mix.  He is said to be about one year old, neutered and  UTD  on his shots.  Whiskey is about 78lbs of pure puppy!  Whiskey loves to play ball and brings it back most times, he also loves to play Frisbee, he loves most anything he can chase.  He has never met a person that he doesn't like.  Whiskey loves all people but not all dogs.  He seems to have a preference for female dogs over male dogs. Whiskey cannot go to a home with cats, small dogs or small animals.

Whiskey behaves like a large puppy and does not know how to walk properly on a leash or greet people without jumping on them.  He could easily knock over children.    For this reason he needs a home with children 14 years and over.  Whiskey needs a home where he will be taken to obedience classes and to be socialized.  He has some fears of new noises and things and will run behind you for protection.  He does love to ride in the car and explore the woods and will follow his nose so he will need a fence.

If you are looking for a real diamond in the rough and are committed to taking Whiskey to obedience classes and at least two long walks a day please contact your placement adviser.

We wanted to say how happy we are to have Whiskey! He has had not problems adjusting to us and seems pretty comfortable as a member of our family! He is adjusting to the other dogs in the neighborhood and to our friends and family as well! We have a 2 mile walk route in the woods that he absolutely loves, but he also enjoys chasing the squirrels around our yard and sitting in the yard watching neighborhood kids come and go. Our foster told us that he was a diamond in the rough and she was so correct with that statement. He is a perfect fit for us!

Thank you for all that you do rescuing these dogs, allowing people the chance to include them as members of their families and loving them unconditionally!

Whiskey has been adopted!

He sure did keep me busy. From walks to bike rides to Starbucks runs for puppy lattes, this little guy came everywhere with me. He was always ready for dish duty and loved sitting in the laundry basket during chores. Definitely going to miss him by my side!

Whiskey will be going to a family of 4. The Dad works from home and the two daughters come home from college to visit often. I know he will absolutely love it there!

Whiskey really is 78 lbs of pure puppy and a true diamond in the rough!

He has settled into his new schedule nicely. We start the day around 6 AM where Whiskey has breakfast and we go out for about a 1/2 hr to a 1 hr walk before I take off for work. During the work day, he stays in a den with a baby gate. I keep his kennel in the room with the door propped open because he likes to sit in there occasionally. Usually, I come home over the lunch hour, but he can go a full work day alone. When I get home, we head out for a potty break then have dinner and go for another 1 hr walk. At night, he has a chewy and after it's play time!

During Whiskey's first few weeks here, he has made great improvements with obedience! He is walking great with a gentle leader. On walks when we pass others, I say "Greet" and he does not jump or bark anymore. We are still working on this when other dogs pass by. He will bark at them (not aggressive barking, he just wants to play!)  and pull you towards them. He is very strong so will need someone who is able to work with him on this.

Play time at night is really the only time he uses his mouth inappropriately. He will gently grab a hold of hands, but has never bit. We are working on learning "Gentle" and he seems to know to replace hands with the nearest toy. He does jump up when he gets excited, but he understands "Off". He also loves to cuddle so he views the couch and the bed as the perfect time to snuggle up.

With obedience classes or some training at home, Whiskey will make one lucky family very happy!!
