Dear RAGOM,
This is an update on Mya 15-284. Since her last update, her buddy Skipper passed away. She has settled quite well into our home. Frodo the cat in particular adores her.
She is a happy girl and we love her a lot! Thanks for choosing us to be her fur-ever home!

Mya and her foster mom, Marjorie, wish to thank Jeannie and Dick Thompson for sponsoring her. The other good news is that with the help of some great RAGOM people driving in subzero weather, Mya has found her forever home. This week, she met Joan, and today, met her ten-year-old Golden, Skippy, and Joan’s two cats. Mya will be filling a big hole in their lives since Amber, another RAGOM dog, passed away a year and a half ago. Skippy was excited to meet her and gave her lots of kisses. We really didn’t know what to expect from him, but he was a real gentleman. Mya was intrigued by the cats and eager to explore her new house. She is a very lucky girl to land in such a wonderful home. No more anxiety for her. She is now home.

Merry Christmas to all my friends and admirers in RAGOM Land! Mya here bringing you the latest news from my Foster Home in Superior.
The weather’s been rainy here, which has created a delightful thing called mud. For some reason, Foster Mom doesn’t want me playing in the mud. But I’m a resourceful dog and had some fun with it anyway. Next thing I know, she’s taking me to a friend’s house for a bath. Oh, well. It was nice to get cleaned up for the holidays.
Remember I told you about the Christmas tree? Once it was decorated, Foster Mom decided she needed to get a picture of me in front of the tree. Don’t I look great in my holiday collar?
Of course, there is plenty of time to play with my foster brother Cody. We always have a lot of fun together. Right now, I am helping him break in the toy snake he got for Christmas. I can hardly wait to open my presents on Christmas morning!
I’m enjoying all the holiday cheer, but sometimes my heart is a little sad. Do you know what I want most for Christmas? Can you give me that perfect gift? If you can, please contact your Placement Advisor soon.

Mya here. Foster Mom has been really busy with holiday stuff so I’ve decided to take this update into my own four paws. Everything is going well and I’m having lots of fun. Here are some of the highlights:
- I’ve been helping Cody and Suzie manage the house while Mom is out visiting clients. Sometimes she’s gone all day, but we’ve got it all under control. Mom says she doesn’t see a trace of separation anxiety in me and that’s a good thing.
- Quacky the Cat has enlisted my help with her baths since my tongue is so much bigger than hers. We like to be efficient in this house.
- Foster Mom dragged this big green thing called a Christmas Tree into the living room. It has been very interesting to sniff. She said we will be decorating it soon, but has discouraged Cody and me from starting without her.
- A friend of Foster Mom’s came over and gave Cody, Suzie, and me a massage which is even better than petting because it lasts a long time and covers the entire dog. Just look at the picture to see how much I am enjoying it.

Mya’s veterinary appointment went well. She is healthy and her weight is stable at 65 pounds. She is up-to-date on her vaccinations. The good news is that her doctor believes her itching may be from seasonal allergies. He told me to give her the Apoquel every other day for a week, then discontinue it and see what happens. So far, so good.
Her doctor did note that her teeth are worn down, likely from when she chewed through her crate prior to coming to RAGOM. Mya has no problem enjoying her kibble or chewing on some pretty substantial bones.
In her first update, we talked about Mya’s separation anxiety. That was based on information provided regarding her previous behavior. I leave Mya alone for a little while almost every day. Once I was gone for seven hours. She has free roam with my dogs and cats, and is doing fine. I haven’t given her the anxiety medication in almost two weeks. When I am home, she does follow me around, and she tends to bark if left outside for more than a few minutes.
Mya is a wonderful houseguest. She loves playing with Cody, is friendly with Suzie, and Quacky the Cat now deigns to sleep next to her in bed. This brings us to Mya’s one major fault: She is a bed hog!
Mya understands that Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away and folks have travel plans or guests arriving in their homes. She hopes that once the celebration is over, the right family will contact their Placement Advisor so she can share Christmas with them.
