In addition to LOVE this dog has the following requirements:
Entered Foster Care Fence Kid Friendly Another Dog Cat Friendly
2/17/2015 Optional Ages 10+ Optional Not tested
This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Carrie is a one-year-old Golden Retriever, possibly a mix with a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. She has some white fur on her feet and a white chest. The rest of her fur is a medium golden color. She is a smaller dog and needs to lose a few pounds to be at her ideal weight. She is in good health and now up-to-date on her shots. Her weight is 56 pounds.

Carrie came from Iowa where she was found abandoned, tied to a tree with a bag of food next to her. We do not know what kind of life she had. We do know she is a RAGOM dog now, and from here forward, she will have a great life.

Carrie is young and has a wonderful temperament! She loves to be next to her people and will climb up on the sofa and hang out with me. She also gets along great with my two resident dogs. They were playing the first night that she came.

Carrie's favorite place

When Carrie was picked up in Iowa, they thought that she was pregnant. I took her to the vet and she was diagnosed with pseudocyesis (false pregnancy). She has many signs of pregnancy: weight gain, mammary enlargement, and milk production. The vet performed an ultrasound to confirm her findings. No puppies. Carrie will be spayed next week.

Heaven

Carrie will jump up and also try and grab things from your hand. For this reason, she should have a home with older children or no children. She loves her food and treats and lunges at them. I am working with her and she is doing much better. She has learned to sit, and if I go slow and tell her, "Easy," she will take the treat gently most of the time.

Carrie is young and does not have very good manners. She is also smart and a quick learner. I think she will benefit from some obedient training. She has learned to sit and now we are working on the command "wait."

Carrie seams to be house-trained. She only had one accident the first day. Once she learned where she was supposed to go, she has been doing great! She does not give a signal that she needs to go out. I let the dogs out on a regular schedule and she is good with that.

I have been working with her on kennel training. She did not like the kennel at first and would whine when put in. She is much better now and has stopped whining. I only kennel her at night and when I have to leave for a long time. I work at home, so she is not kenneled that much.

Carrie has only been here a week and I am sure things will change as she gets used to our house. For now, this is what I would like for her in her forever home.

  • No small children under 10.
  • A family that will take her to obedience training.
  • A fenced yard would be ideal; she would be OK on a tie-out if she got some daily exercise.
  • If no other dog is in the home, her family would be willing to keep her socialized with other dogs. Carrie loves to play with her dog friends!

We would like to thank Denise, a RAGOM volunteer, for driving so far on a cold and snowy night to get Carrie into rescue!

Carrie was adopted today by the R family! She jumped right in the car with her tail wagging.

She will be missed around here. I think our resident dog, Baylee, will miss her the most. They hit it off so well and loved to play together!

We know Carrie is going to have a great home and live happily ever after in her forever home.

Carrie is doing great! She had a really fun weekend. On Saturday, she had a playdate with 9 other dogs. She did great with all of them. She was running around and so happy. She played tug-of-war with a few of them.

On Saturday night, we had a little puppy come to visit us and Carrie was so in love with her. She is so gentle with the puppy and plays very nicely with her.

On Sunday, Carrie went to meet a family that was interested in adopting her. This family has a cat and Carrie was not cat tested yet. We meet at their home. Carrie met the dogs first and the family; everything was great. They brought the cat out and set it down right in front of her. She gave it a smell and walked away from it. Carrie is cat approved!

The family fell in love with Carrie and she was very comfortable at their home! When it was time to go, I went to get Carrie and she was on the sofa with one of the sons soaking up all of the attention.

The R family will be adopting Carrie in a few weeks. Carrie will be spayed on Tuesday, March 3rd. The family had a trip planned, so Carrie will stay with me until they get back. She will be going home on March 18th.

We would like to thank Sharon and Todd for sponsoring Carrie! Carrie is happy to tell you she will have two dog brothers, Milo and Bo (Bo is also a RAGOM rescue).
