Miss Avery has found her forever home! She is with a couple who loves her already, with her very own fenced yard, and even a squirrel tree. She will be going for regular adventures in the nearby parks, playing with neighbor dogs, going to training, and getting the best possible love and care we could've dreamed of for her sweet little doggy self.

Hi Everyone! Avery here- I am so happy I have someone to play with again! A new dog arrived a couple of days ago, and now that she is getting used to things here, she is starting to play with me! It fills my heart with joy to have another dog to play tag and wrestle with- I only wish we had a big fenced yard to race around in together!
This new yellow dog- she came here with her baby. I don't really care about that baby because she doesn't play with me. Sometimes I sniff her because she smells funny. Here we all are helping foster mom untangle some Christmas garland. That silly cat had to get right in the middle of it all too.
The people here let me get on the furniture now, and it just makes me so happy to be able to snuggle up to them! Sometimes I even get to control the remote.

Here are some new pics of me! First, all fluffy after a bath-
And then a couple showing the pretty, chocolatey-colored fur coming in on my gorgeous new winter coat-

Hi all! Avery here- I'm really getting the hang of things now. My first bath at this house, I cried and cried and tried to escape, and now I get in the shower all by myself and stand there patiently waiting to be washed. The fur on my back is getting long, and it stands up like a little mohawk when I get all clean and fluffy. It may look like I'm all black, but the lady says I have some chocolate brownish colored fur coming in on my head too. I'm all done with my medicine and I'm looking so nice!
I love riding in the car! If a door is open, I'll hop right in and sit there looking at you with my pretty brown eyes, like come on, slowpoke- what are you waiting for?
I do miss having another dog to play with- I'm still trying to get the cats to play, but apparently they're not into wrestling like I am.

Hi all, Avery here - the most exciting thing happened yesterday! We visited someone with a fenced in yard, so I could zoom around at my top speed, and I caught a squirrel! I wasn't sure what to do with it, so I was just holding its tail in my mouth, and the lady said to let it go, so I did, and it ran up a tree and then it sat there scolding me. I don't think I hurt it, but it was such a thrill to actually catch one of them! Here is a picture of me in action, hunting squirrels, in my super stealthy crouch stance:
I think I'm what you would call "house trained" now - I haven't had an accident in weeks. I'm smart and eager to please, so I'm getting the hang of what I should do when the lady says "sit","come", and "hush", and I know how to play fetch with a tennis ball. I've learned that baths and taking medicine are not the end of the world, so I'm really cooperative with those things now. I've lost a couple of my puppy teeth- I love to chew things, (like all teething babies do) but I am very gentle with the humans, even the noisy little ones, because I know that food and affection always come from them. I love to be close to my people- I like to lean against you or lie on your foot, so we can share some warmth. You might say I'm a cuddler. The man here does not want me on the furniture, but I think if it were just the lady, she would let me, and I think I would like that, but for now, I'm happy to go in my kennel at bedtime. It's so comfy, sometimes I even stretch out and sleep on my back in there, like this:
The cats here are more comfortable with me now. The little one, who used to run from me, will not run away anymore, so I have no reason to chase her. In fact, here we are enjoying some morning sunshine together:
I love to lie in the sun- anytime I can find a sunny spot, I just soak it up.
That's the update for now- more soon!

Avery here- well, the big news is that I am an only dog for the first time in my life- my sister found her forever home, and we said our goodbyes yesterday. Since then, it has been pretty quiet. I always said it was my sister who started everything! I do miss having a playmate, though. I've tried playing with the big cat who lives here, but he's no fun- he refuses to play chase, and hisses at me when I try to talk him into it, so I mostly just steer clear of him now.
There is a little cat too, and she likes to run when she sees me, so my instinct is to chase her. I like to chase things that run, and I'm super fast- I know if I could ever be free of my leash, I could catch a chipmunk or squirrel, no problem. I wish I had a fenced yard so I could practice getting up to top speed.
One other bit of news for now- I have been losing more of my fur, so the lady took me to the doggy doctor, and I have to take annoying baths and medicine for awhile, but then my beautiful, shiny black coat will fill back in, and my outside will match my supermodel weasel insides. See how shiny? This is me and my sister laying in the sun the other day- she was resting her head on my back and it was so cute.

Hi everybody! I'm Avery! I'm about 4 months old now, and I just went through another big change in my life. My sister and I had to say goodbye to our amazing foster mom, who had nurtured us to our current fabulous health, and go stay with another lady, but she's pretty nice so far too. She has these smelly cats and rambunctious kids, but she also takes us for long walks and gives us lots of love and treats, so it's ok for now. I can deal with the kids and cats- I am a puppy- so of course I'm playful and like to nibble, but I know how to be gentle, and I listen well if you ever do need to remind me. The only thing I can't resist is if something runs away from me- I just want to play- doesn't running = chasing? Every puppy knows that. I know I should go potty outside, and I almost always do! But occasionally, if I haven't had a break in awhile, I might not hold it. I'm still learning! I'm still learning lots of things, like not jumping up on people and how to walk on a leash.
We went to a lake for the first time the other day, and I was pretty suspicious about all that water. I took a little drink, but I really didn't want to put my paws in. I might get used to it if we went there a lot, but this time I decided I'd rather just play tag on the beach with my sister.
I am a good listener. I like to be close to my person, and I love cuddles and belly rubs. I would like to have a big fenced yard someday so I could run around really fast!

Anna (14-215) and Avery here. Goldzilla was a blast! We were able to impress so many people! We even pretended that we were napping during the showcase so folks would know how mellow we are! LOL. All our fans kept saying how adorable and well behaved we were.
Potty training is going so well. Five days and no accidents. Can we get a shout out for such great bladder control? And did we mention how angelic we are at bedtime? We go into our kennel about 9:30pm and just stare at our foster mom until she comes to close the door and bring our excellent bedtime snacks. We then snuggle in until 7:30am.
Even though it was great meeting all our fans at Goldzilla, it was exhausting. Anna had a Goldzilla 'hangover' all day, i.e. she just 'hangs over' the couch! See the photo evidence below.
