Autumn is a stunning beauty from a SD breeder. She is 9.5 years old.

Thank you to her transporters and Rona for cleaning her up prior to transport. She was not current on vaccinations so that was taken care of prior to boarding in Sioux Falls. When she arrived at the vet, Autumn had the mandatory RAGOM wellness check and senior blood panel. She is 60#. She was thirsty after her transport and resourceful finding water at the vet.

She was given medication for ear infections that we apply 2 x daily. Her fecal & heartworm tests are negative. Her eyes and heart are fine. Autumn had a spay scheduled for Monday which was cancelled because the vet found multiple tumors on her mammory glands. Its not uncommon for advanced age intact females to have these tumors. Until we receive confirmation about the tumors, surgery is on hold. The mammory/spay surgery will be expensive but Autumn is worth every penny. If you are thinking about sponsoring a dog, I hope you choose Autumn. She is a happy, sweet, fun golden. She loves people and life. If not for this medical issue, Autumn would be ready for adoption.

Have you seen a cuter golden butt?

After 3 days fostering Autumn, I’m comfortable with the following assessments.

  • Good with other dogs. Good with cats with initial supervision. She was curious at first with a chase, but ignores MiMi now.
  • Very curious about open spaces under deck where rabbits reside. Probably a squirrel or rabbit chaser.
  • Good on car rides
  • Learning basic commands ie. Sit, No No, Down, Off, Stay, Go back to Sleep, Lie down
  • Ok with crate but I don’t think she needs one. Sleeps either on floor or on dog bed in bedroom. She’s not interested in the couch or bed.
  • So far, free roam for 3 hours – no problem. Will stretch the time during the next couple weeks.
  • Poddy trained, but needs frequent reminders to go outside. Flies out, does her thing and comes back inside.
  • Wants you in sight (not Velcro) just be in the same room
  • Fine with vacuum and loud noises
  • Loves to be brushed
  • Takes treats gently. Does not destroy toys or stuffies
  • No problem with stairs
  • Greets you at the door with wagging tail. Gives sweet, gentle kisses when requested. Double paws up on your belly with the “golden” smile.

Autumn is close to PERFECT and ready for her new family after her medical issues are taken care of. Thanks for reading about this special girl.

My sweet Autumn crossed the Rainbow Bridge on March 1, 2018 at the age of 14 years and 6 months .  She was with me almost 5 years to the day.  Autumn brought pure joy into my life everyday. She loved going for walks and the neighbors loved seeing her.  She loved her treats and tummy rubs.  Autumn was a very, sweet girl with lots of love. I miss her everyday. Thank you, RAGOM, for bringing her to me.

A mighty fine looking 14 year old in February 2018

Autumn had an eventful February and an even better March. She was a wonderful ambassador at the Burnsville Petco.

She sailed through her spay and mammory tumor surgery. The wonderful Dr. Razz removed 3 of the 4 lumps without a problem. The biopsies were negative for cancer. Autumn has a barely visible spay scar and invisible 3 teeny incisions. The 4th lump is smaller than a BB so it was not removed. Her recovery was quick and she healed perfectly. Her new momma will keep an eye on it and also on a minor heart murmur.

Autumn is that "perfect" dog that you cry over when they go to their new family. Here she easily adapted to everyone, dog or person, schedule, environment, noise. She was welcome to stay here forever......but fortunately for her she found a perfect new HOME. That's what RAGOM is all about....Rescue---Rehome---Repeat.

After the long drive to meet her fabulous new mom, she "found" this treasure of toys.

Good Bye sweet, beautiful Autumn. You are another "special" dog that won our hearts. Now live the golden life with your new mom and sister, paws up....;-).

Judy, this is for you......

Thank you for loving Autumn.

I have to tell you this lady is amazing. She is 9.5 years old. She will be 10 in June. Autumn has more energy than Meggers and Heather. She chases the tennis ball and occasionally her tail. She's not manic about it. Just a couple times a day. When its too cold for a walk, I throw the ball downstairs for a couple min. and she loves it.

Autumn has been socialized. She walks up to strangers and craves loving. She loves people, gives infants kisses and wants to play with neighborhood kids. We dog sat a 2 year old female golden over the weekend and they did great.

Before our fresh snow walk in the neighborhood park reserve, the furbutts got boots and jackets on. Getting Autumn's boots on was a breeze. She had no problem adapting to them.

I ask her to move when I vacuum. She is okay with any household noise and explores both floors. I think she may have had house privileges with the breeder or a family prior to RAGOM. Please insert pic waiting for carpet to dry

Waiting for carpet to dry

Earlier I said she was good alone for 2 hours and I would stretch it. So I was gone yesterday for 5 1/2 hours and she did fabulous. No accidents or misbehavior at all. She will be an awesome partner for any family. She likes to know where I am but doesn't get underfoot. She is snoozing in the doorway as I type this.

Autumn does not need another dog or is okay with one or a cat is fine, too. She is an attention hog but shares the love with our girls. She has no resource guarding issues. I can take anything away from her with no problem. She sleeps through the nite---up to 8 hours without asking to go outside.

Autumn is following Cupid to the RAGOM event 11-1 Sat. Feb. 2 at the Burnsville Petco. When you meet her, you will love her, I promise.
