Hello Babester Fans!
Did you hear the news? Yep--we finally found that perfect family for Babe---OURS! Babe is officially a new member of the "S" Family and we couldn't be more thrilled to make it official. We've had this sweet boy for almost 18 months. Almost every day, we say... "Someone is missing out on such a wonderful dog."
Last weekend, I couldn't help but repeat those same words. At the Chuck & Don's RAGOM Meet & Greet, Babe received a blanket from a wonderful girl that donated a bunch of handmade fleece blankets to many of our foster dogs and Babe has been sleeping on it every chance he gets....such a cherished gift! Babe is the most thankful boy and just wants to be loved and cared for. He's taught us so much about the simple pleasures in life and he lives that way daily.

As I packed up the car from the event, a fellow volunteer cared for Babe and Bear 10-247 as he has for the past year at events--their special friend Rutager. They say a picture is worth a 1000 words---but in this case---it was the picture that framed how truly happy these boy are and that it was time for them to have their "forever" home.

As you know, Babe suffers from separation anxiety (though almost non-existent in our home since he's so comfortable with the routine and the pack) and he also has arthritis in his front leg that requires meds and pain management. While there has been interest in Babe along the way, there was always an important piece missing (another dog, a playful dog - but not a youngster/puppy, a consistent schedule, the financial means to manage his pain, etc.). Because Bear 10-247 and Babe were so good together, we even thought adopting them both out together would be the answer, but again we waited, hoped, and prayed....but that particular family didn't seem to be out there either. Recently Babe's body has started to give him more trouble....our walks have shortened and his playtime----though still very active with his pals---leaves him hurting and resting more. Babe will turn 11 years old next month and so we began to think about the one birthday gift that would mean the most to him...and the answer was not too hard to figure out. :) We know the perfect home for Babe!
Welcome Home, Sweet Boy! We are sooooo happy to make you and Bear members of our family!

We want to thank Babe's sponsors --- Mary and Carl S, his previous fosters John & Joan and Cheryl, and all his wonderful fans that donated in his name and those that followed his story. You all brought this boy so much love and we can't thank you enough. It's been quite a journey for Babe...but he's found his way home thanks to all of YOU!
Babe officially becomes a RAGOM Ambassador and will continue to be out at events sharing his RAGOM "success" story. :) And---we'll be sure to see you all at Goldzilla!
Signing off for now....
The Babester & Family :)

Still missing your snuggles, Babe! Happy Valentine's Day! Joan and John

Hi Babe Fans!!! Hope you are enjoying the holiday festivities!!!

Bobby has had a couple of busy weekends, attending Goldzilla and our local potluck/doggie playday for RAGOM volunteers in Duluth. He behaved himself like a champ at Goldzilla, not really phased by all the other dogs and people. He stood and looked with curiosity at all the activity; he enjoyed getting extra attention and being petted; he had no problem with a couple of people giving him walks twice; and he was not afraid to prance in front of the crowd for the Foster Parade. Bobby was a gracious host during our potluck, enjoying two extra dogs to play with and extra hands to give him treats and pets!

The vet exam went well for Bobby. His hips are good and weight of 69.8 pounds, is a good weight for him according to the vet. He does have tartar on his teeth, with a rear molar in poor but stable condition. It may need to be extracted sometime in the future. The vet found silver embedded in his teeth, which he said indicates he was chewing on a fence. Bobby's rear leg muscles are weak, likely from living in a kennel, but can easily be strengthened through exercise. Overall, the vet said Bobby has a good temperament and is a healthy dog who would make a gentlemanly companion to someone.
