I would like to welcome Tanner to RAGOM.

Tanner came into my home on Sunday night. He was surrendered from a wonderful family that cared alot about him. He is nicely groomed and clean and very loving.

His first night was kind of tuff for him. He paced from door to door. He would lay down for awhile and then get up and move to another door. He did not cry at all, but does love counter surfing. We don't keep much on our counters anymore now that the kids all moved away from home. He also likes the garbage can so that is in the pantry now.

He keeps trying to get up on the bed. I heard he likes to sleep in big peoples bed. Sorry he can't do that here because the cats have first dibbs, besides there is not enough room on a king size bed for 4 cats and 2 dogs.

He gets along great with our black lab Charmin, but he now stays clear of the 4 cats after one took a swap at him. He now walks way around them.

He is scared of loud noises like air guns, air compessors and hammers. We are finishing our basement and he will not come down when we are working down there.

After 48 hours having him he is starting to lay down and of course it is wherever I go he goes. He watches every move I make.

Tanner went to the vet today and is all up to date with shots. We are waiting for the results on the heart worm test.

He also has a broken front bottom tooth so I will be taking him in to check that out.

I will be working on his issues in the kitchen and some of his manners. He listens some times and not others.

Check back later on in the week for more updates and pictures. He does not like his picture taken, he turns his head away.

Tanner's SO he is doing just fine.

This email is to notify the RAGOM organization of our dog, Tanner's (08-515), passing. Tanner died on 6/11/17 of what is highly suspected to be hemangioma sarcoma. Tanner was brought to the emergency clinic on this day and multiple tests were completed. After much discussion between my husband and I, it was decided to euthanize Tanner due to the severe pain he was in as a result. Prior to this time, he seemed mostly pain free and much like the Tanner we knew and loved.

We are heartbroken - Tanner was a member of our family and, truly, our first baby. We continue to love him in our hearts and through our memories and stories, and we can't thank the Ragom organization enough for introducing us to this spunky fur kid, who ran away with our hearts. His remains will be spread in a favorite watering hole of his, where he much preferred to lay rather than to swim, most recently this past Thanksgiving, despite the vocal protests and chase that ensued. 😬

Below are some pictures of Tanner and our kids within the last year.

Many thanks again,

Jess B

Well, it's been over a year since we adopted Tanner, and we're more in love with him now than ever. Tanner is currently 4.5 years old but has the spirit of a puppy. He loves to go for walks, run at the dog park, rough around with his Dad and snuggle with Mom. He's always excited to greet us at the door, whether we've been gone for 30 minutes or a couple hours.

He has quite a few furry friends who he gets along with very well. We're convinced that he and one of his furry friends, Kelly, who was adopted by my sister, are brother and sister at heart. They're inseparable when they're together and have each managed to wrap Grandma around their paws...meaning T-R-E-A-T-S and lots and lots of special attention.

We've been working on table manners with Tanner, but we're not sure how well we're managing. Tanner appears to have some sort of addiction to baked goods and has been known to swipe cookies, muffins and the like from the counter without as much as a peep. The trail of crumbs leading to a very guilty looking puppy is usually the only evidence left from such adventures. We've had much more luck teaching ourselves to leave nothing on the counter and to put everything away which, in turn, helps Tanner behave better and to also avoid a tummy ache.

In January, my husband, myself and Tanner welcomed a new addition to our family, a little girl named Brynn. Tanner has adjusted pretty well to the change. He certainly has his jealous moments, but has also become very protective of Brynn, needing to know where she is at all times, and he makes it a point to let us know when any sort of ruckus is occurring outside.

Tanner is an incredible dog, and we only hope we can give him as much as he has already given our family. When people ask us what kind of dog we have, we proudly tell them it's a special breed of Tanner...there's only one kind!

First of all I would like to thank Tanner's sponsor Sandra. With your help it makes it possible for these goldens to get the care they need and to find their forever homes of their own. Then I want to thank RAGOM for the wonderful job they are doing with these goldens that need us. I would also like to thank all the fosters for taking in all the foster dogs that need homes. I have had the pleasure of fostering 3 now and it seems like it gets harder to let them go, but when you meet that special family for your foster it is all worth it.

I want to thank Tanner's SO for giving me the pleasure to foster him and helping him find his forever home. I know you loved him very much to do that.

I was so close to being a foster failure this time. Tanner was that special guy that needed someone to help him with some of his issues. He has been with us for 2 months and he has come a long way with some of them. I searched for the right forever home for him that would help him along the way.

Tanner has been adopted by a wonderful couple, and he will be the only dog and animal in the household, so you know what that means, he is going to get all the love and attention he deserves, and he will hardly ever be left alone, someone will always be home with him.

Tanner will also have some fur cousins and he is going to be so lucky to be able to go to a cabin in the summer time. I am so jealous.

Tanner I love and miss you so much already. Hugs and Kisses.

Here are some of the last pictures I took on his last day with us.

And Tanner's new mom & dad. Aren't they the cutest family?

Well, it has been along time since Tanner's last update. He has been with us now for 2 months and has come a long ways. He does not get into the garbage anymore, but of course the garbage has a lid on it. He does not countersurf if there is nothing on the counter to do so. He still loves cookies. When FD makes cookies he is right there to try and see what he can get. When we make dinner or anything else it does not seem to bother him but cookies that's a different story. We call him our cookie bandit.

Tanner used to be afraid of alot of things and he is slowly being not afraid. He was very afraid of the fire in our fireplace but now he will walk right by it. Loud noises he did not like and raised voices, even the telephone bothered him, now it seems to get better and better every day.

I have been taking Tanner to obedience training to see how he would be around other dogs and he is just fine with them as long as they do not charge him. Well, who isn't scared of a charging dog. Tonight was his third night and it only took him 10 minutes to warm up and do the commands. He knows how to sit, stay, lay down, jump over a bar (of course I have to coax him a little, but he does it), and he is getting the heeling and about turn really down pat. We are using a clicker for these commands and he is doing good and he is very much treat motivated. We have 2 more Thursday's of training doing the simple things. Tanner learns very fast as long as you keep working with him. He does not forget things easily.

He still does not like the crate when we are gone. Maybe he just doesn't like a crate. He has free roam at night, and when we are home and he does just great.

Here are a few things that we want for Tanner in his forever home:

  • a physical fence
  • he does not need another dog for company, he loves alot of attention.
  • he loves being with you all the time. I call him my shadow.
  • children are ok, but he is too wiggley for little ones, so I would say kids in their teens.
  • someone that will help him get over his anxiety when you are away.
  • he loves riding in the car, he can't wait when we go for car rides.
  • someone that would be able to continue with obedience training to bond with you. (I say this because he has come along way in just the 3 lessons he has had.)

I am not taking him to obedience training because he is not behaving, only because I wanted him to come and trust me as his foster mom, and I am getting the trust very much.

Ok that's what happens when you don't update for along time, so here are some recent pictures of Tanner and his foster sister Charmin.

Tanner blocking the door. He didn't remember we were go to training.

This is how he gets when we are leaving the house and he doesn't get to go with. He blocks the door. Poor Tanner!

When we are going somewhere he always knows it, so he will go over to the door and block it and play dead, and then I have to take his collar and help him into his crate.

Tanner would like to say Thank you to his sponsor. Stay tuned he is whipping something up special for you Sandra.

Well, it's been along time since the last update. Tanner is doing good. We had a little set back but I believe it is from all the holidays commotion.

We had about 30 relatives over last Sunday. He did great with everyone. Then on Christmas day the kids came over and he did great. But before all that we were trying to get the house all cleaned and organized for the occasion I think he was a little confused and did not know what was going on.

He has been doing great out of his crate at night except the last week or so every little noise he hears he goes running down the hallway barking and he has been chasing the cats. I don't know if he would hurt them but we do not give him a chance. A strong correction and he stops. We don't know what he is barking at either. He was staying in the laundry room with our black lab Charmin when we leave the house and was doing good except he started last week to try and scratch his way out. He has scratched all the paint off the door. Soo, sorry to say I have to put him back into his crate when we go somewhere. He does not like that at all.

I believe we have the garbage situation under control for now and still working on the counter surfing. He does not get up on the counters when you are in the same room, but if we go out to the garage or even out of the kitchen he tries to sneak into the kitchen to see what is on the counter. We do not leave anything on the counters at all for any temptation for him.

So time will tell in the next couple of weeks if everything gets back to normal and he is not so jumpy.
He does not like loud noises at all. He cowards if you drop something or even when FD is hammering on something. He hates the air compressor and air nailer sounds.

Here are some pictures of Tanner and of course me Foster Mom.

Relaxing after Sunday and before Christmas day.

Maybe this present is for me.

Tanner has been with us now for about 3 weeks and nothing much is new. He is starting to master his jumping up on people. He does not jump up on FD but he will still jump up on me (FM). It is a very gentle jump up, but we do not want him to do that for if he was to do it with kids he would knock them down.

Tanner had his teeth clean and a tooth pulled yesterday. He did just fine. Last night when I picked him up he would not even look at me at the vets, he just darted right by me thinking he could get away. I believe he did not want to be there anymore, could you blame him. Do you like the dentist? Well, he doesn't.

Do you know how much it cost to have a dog's teeth cleaned and a tooth pulled? Well, I do and it is not cheap. Thank you RAGOM for doing this for Tanner. I know his mouth will feel much much better now.

When we got home he went into the kitchen and laid down right away. I was trying to give him his medicine, but no way was he going to let me touch his mouth. I tried giving him some food but he just laid there and looked at it. So he did not take his medicine and did not eat. At the wee hours of the morning (about 3 A.M.) he was starting to roam the house. I got up with him and took him outside to go potty. When we came back in I tried giving him his medicine again and yea he took it and he even ate his food, so off to bed we went. He was very hungry again at 6 A.M. so I fed him again.

I finally got some pictures of him. The first one was outside last weekend. We were putting some Christmas stuff outside so I had to tie him to a tree. He did not like that so well being Charmin our blk lab was able to roam free. As you can tell in the picture he was afraid tied to the tree without Charmin. He watches everything that she does.

The second picture I had to take after he came home from his surgery when I tried to feed him. He almost made me cry he looked so sad. I told him I was so sorry but now his tooth will not bother him anymore.

Well, I have to go I have 2 dogs here nudging my arms to get off the computer.
