Farewell Fox, we will always love you!!
Foxy had a good time at the Renaissance Festival last weekend. He was a little scared with all the traffic and people but once we got to the safety of the RAGOM booth he settled in for a day full of attention. He was good with the other dogs, let the children pet him and soaked up all the, "Oh Foxy is so FOXY!"
He continues to improve everyday. We go for longer walks, he plays tug with Maddison and this week he has been running up and down the stairs as if he wants to play chase. It's awesome to see him developing his own personality. He is still really mellow and he loves to cuddle.
Foxy goes potty outside, gets along with other dogs (we have had 3 over this last week), he's fine with our feline friends, walks good on a leash, is gentle with treats and is so full of love. Although he's had a rough past, he's ready for a bright future. Please let placement know if you would like to meet my "Foxy Foxy"!!
Hi, Foxy here. I wanted to drop a note and let all of you know how happy I am. Last night I ran over to the toy basket and found my own ball to play with. I didn't want anyone to throw it though; I just want to carry it around for awhile. My foster mom was so excited, I thought I might have to take her out to go potty outside ;-)
Since I got rescued, my foster mom has taught me to eat out of a bowl not off the floor, go to the bathroom outside (I love the treat I get afterwards), come when she calls my name and my friend Madison is teaching me to play with toys. Sometimes she wants what I have and I know we have to share so I just let her have it.
We have a house guest this week and boy is she funny looking. After playing and taking a walk yesterday, mom let us relax on the sofa together. See how cute we are?
I'm so happy to report that Foxy is really coming around. When I get home, I rarely find him in his kennel and he comes up to me wagging this tail which is a great improvement from 2 weeks ago. He is eating well and taking treats like a real gentleman. I have given him two baths since he's been with us and he is so soft and shiney--he really is a gorgeous dog!
We have started venturing out for longer walks and he is doing much better. He still gets startled when car goes by, but I stop and let him know that it's okay. With a treat and a quick reassurance we are off again. I think he really likes getting out of the house and feeling the breeze in his face.
He is beginning to play more and more with our resident dog and they have even snuggled up together (which I thought would never happen) at bedtime. We also have a cat at our house that Foxy has never shown much attention to so he would be fine in a home with other animals as well. He really needs or maybe a better word is deserves a home with a fenced yard so he can run around freely with another dog. Foxy is a wonderful boy and with lots of attention and love will bring much Golden joy to his forever family-is that your family?
I'm happy to report that Foxy is coming out of his shell. In the last week he has stopped staying in his kennel and comes out to enjoy some treats and of course lots of petting. Out of nowhere Wednesday night, he starting playing with our resident dog and I don't know who was happier, me or my Madison! They rolled around for about 15 minutes and then rested together; it was a big breakthrough for us. Thursday night, I took Foxy over to see his old pal November and the fun continued. Foxy didn't cower at all and even pushed his way in for some attention. It was obvious that November was the dominant one but Foxy enjoyed it none the less. Here a couple of pictures.
Foxy is still very afraid of loud noises and most people but he is getting much better. I have started walking him more but he often freezes when we get around the corner from our house (maybe he's afraid of being lost again). We will stay close to home until he is ready. It will take a little more time but I think Foxy will soon be ready to start looking for his forever family. He is gorgeous, gentle little guy, only 53 pounds.
