4/1/07: Introducing Miss Mimzy!!! She is 2-3 years old and is one of the ND puppy mill gals and is doing GReat!  She quickly has learned that life outside of that horrible place is pretty terrific!  She has really come around this past week - jumps up for affection, is very interested in the outside world.

We have a pile of dog toys on a mat--each gets taken for a test drive and then returned to the same spot.  Rawhides are the most wonderful things that have ever been invented-next to hotdogs with pills hidden in them!  Noises do not seem to concern her.  I have vacuumed under her nose without any problem.  Stairs have been mastered, treats have been mastered, house training has not been mastered!  Work in progress… She has started to "talk" and I imagine that she has a lot to say - kind of a deep murmur which is pretty funny.

She still startles but once the initial shock wears off, is ready to investigate the new sound/thing.  Food is one of her favorite things; the crate is one of her least favorite things!  However, until the house breaking is completed she should not have run of the house.

I believe she needs a fenced yard and a young dog (not senior) to play with.  She is absolutely beautiful and an absolute doll!  She’s about as resilient as they come-and I love her to death-especially since she smells a whole lot better.  The change from last Sunday night is incredible and she will make a wonderful family dog.  There is not a mean bone in her body.

She is coming out of heat (I think) and will need to be spayed at the appropriate time before being adopted.

Our Maggie (adopted as Mimzy 07-184) crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday, June 24, 2017. We learned that a tumor in her spleen had ruptured and she was bleeding internally. Letting her go was SO hard because we weren’t ready to say goodbye but I don’t think you’re ever ready to say goodbye to a Golden. She was still such a beautiful girl. Maggie was one of the sweetest dogs that wanted to give love and be loved 24/7. She loved getting dirty but wanted to be pretty, too. She always wanted her collar on and loved wearing scarves. She enjoyed our neighbor’s black lab and occasionally, a few adventures outside our neighborhood. It was hard to be upset with her though because she was such a “love”. We spoiled her terribly but she deserved it. I’ve attached a picture of her last day with our middle daughter Taylor.

Maggie spent 6 years with our older golden Sonny until he passed in 2013 and a few months later, we attended a RAGOM event at Chuck and Don’s in Savage and adopted Joyce 13-232 (now Jojo). They had 4 years together and I know Jojo is really missing her so we are trying to give lots of extra love and attention.

We are going to miss Maggie dearly but we are also at peace knowing she has been reunited with Sonny, her first golden buddy.

I’m attaching a few more of our favorite pictures of this beautiful girl.

Here’s the latest on Maggie (Mimzy 07-184).

We adopted Maggie April 27, 2007. Everything was a first for her and she was very skittish but our older golden, Sonny, showed her the ropes. She became his shadow and for years, you would not catch her more than a foot away from him. We took her to obedience training and she did great. The cradle massages put her right to sleep. She was a quick learner and is happy to please, especially if treats are involved. She still likes to counter surf so we keep the counters clean. She gets nervous for grooms and the vet. She doesn’t particularly care for storms and will find someone to be with or go sit in the middle of our bed. I think she feels safe there. She has been very healthy so we feel quite fortunate. She likes her walks and loves to nap with anybody who will sleep with her. She has been spoiled to no end and is constantly told what a pretty girl she is. She is an absolute sweetheart. It’s hard to imagine that she came to us as a very thin, very scared and very smelly dog from a North Dakota puppy mill.

We recently lost our older golden so she is on her own for now and doing quite well. The first few weeks were very hard for her. We are planning to adopt another golden from RAGOM soon. I am sure Maggie will be happy to have a friend around again.

Mimzy and I went to the 4/21 RAGOM booth at Chuck and Don's. We arrived a little after the starting time and the place was full of people and dogs. When Mimzy got out of the car and saw all the people she was a little scared. But typical of this brave girl, she quickly overcame this fear and joined the fun. She put on a pretty pink clown collar so everyone there would know she was an available girl. She loved all the attention she got. She met several nice people, many of whom had read about her on this web site. It's heartwarming to know so many people are following these deserving dogs and enjoy learning about their progress. She also enjoyed visiting with the other dogs that were there. Especially Jessie 07-178. The two girls look a lot alike and are about the same age. Since they are both ND PM girls they may have been friends in their past life. Mimzy was doing so well in this new situation that we stayed much longer than I thought we would. We finally left after Mimzy decided it was nap time. I'd like to thank all the special people who took time out of their weekend to visit and get to know these special dogs.

This morning I discovered the girls snoozing together in Daisey's crate. What you can't see in the picture is that just off camera Mrs. Bigglesworth the cat is watching the two girls intently. I think she wants to get in on the non-action and cuddle with the girls. Mimzy is the fur ball on the bottom with her head sticking out of the crate.

Mimzy just doesn't get this picture taking thing.  She thinks its all about getting petted and giving kisses.

Finally! Mimzy let me get a good closeup.  Isn't she gorgeous!

What a character Mimzy is. She is affectionate, fun loving, and full of energy. Since she has come to stay at my house, she and her fellow ND girl Daisey have become best buds. They can usually be found together. They love to run and chase around the yard. Mimzy really loves to run free in her new fenced in yard. She comes when called and responds well to both praise and treats as rewards. Mimzy likes to play fetch and will return the ball about half the time. Not bad for a girl who had never seen a ball before two weeks ago. Mimzy and Daisey also enjoy running together in the back yard while both hold the same stick and play tug of war.

Mimzy needs to be watched in the house. But that’s a pretty easy chore as she likes to hang around her humans. She likes to counter surf and sit on chairs. We have her on a schedule for potty training and she is doing pretty well with it. She is smart and likes to learn and to please. She has been gentle with the older children who have come to visit, but because she likes to jump up for attention should probably not go to a home with younger children.

Mimzy is very excited to have a sponsor. She gave me a puppy kiss when she found out that someone cared enough to sponsor her.
