Wilson 05-342

Profile

10/29/05: The boys (Zeus, Wilson & Yogi) arrived and are safe! All are VERY handsome! This is Wilson, DOB 8/11/02, whom RAGOM rescued from a breeder who was getting rid of his stock because he couldn't afford to heat the building they were in. Wilson is quite friendly - he was running around the kennel and snuggled up for pets and loves. We've given them 3 baths each (they smell so much better!!!!) and cut the chains off their necks. I scrubbed every square inch of them, the entire face, between each toe, private parts, picked them up so they would stand so I could rinse them off, and they put up with everything, with out any growling or even looking grumpy. Zeus seems real laid back, Wilson is just goofy and sweet and Yogi is scared to be approached at first, but then melts when you pet him. Fecals, vaccinations and neutering are set up for this week. They are all eating and doing well considering what they have been through. That's the update for now!

Wilson is camera shy so taking pictures is a challenge. In the one picture he is playing with his new friend, Mandy. Wilson has discovered that we have LOTS of squirrels in the yard. He and Mandy just love to chase them. We have a large wooded lot and are out in the country. We even have deer coming at night to feed in the yard. Wilson knows his name and responds when called. At bedtime both Wilson and Mandy are tuckered out and ready to go to sleep. It is just great getting our life back to normal. We were so lost after the passing of our 2 furkids last fall and Mandy was so used to having them around. Now she cuddles with Wilson at night. Thanks again for helping us find Wilson. He is such a precious boy!

I want to tell you about the sweetest and gentlest dog that I have ever had the pleasure of fostering. Wilson is such a gentle soul. When our dogs are rough-housing and getting a little vocal, Wilson will go into the mudroom and watch from the doorway. He will play with our dogs, but he wants nothing to do with playing rough. He is bonding more and more with us and of course, us to him also. It will be so hard for us to let go of this special boy. Wilson would do great with a family with kids that are past the toddler stage. I think that with him being so big, that he might accidently knock them down. He should have a doggy buddy that is more laid back or maybe even a senior dog to help Wilson learn how to relax and enjoy life. Loud noises still startle him so he will never make a hunting dog. A quiet neighborhood or perhaps a home out of the city would be best for Wilson. He needs a laid back family and quiet surroundings for him to feel safe. Wilson has shown us so much courage in the two months that we have fostered him. He deserves a special family who will love him for the sweetheart that he is. Are you that family? Please contact placementatragom [dot] org. Wilson is waiting for you.

Wilson is doing great in our home and has charmed us with his goofy, silly, happy go lucky outlook on life. When it comes to play, he is a self-starter. We will be watching TV in the evening and Wilson will pick up a ball or tug and start throwing it around. Wilson is the definition of "joy" when he is playing. He still is startled easily, but we are hopeful that he will soon get over that. His favorite thing to do is run outside with the other dogs to play in the snow. We have discovered that he "loves" squeaky balls!!! He carries them around so proudly and gets silly when he accidently "squeaks" it.

Wilson is ready to go to his forever home. He is HW negative, neutered and UTD on his shots. He did wonderfully with my grandchildren at Thanksgiving so I'm sure that he would do well with small children. He is not hyper but he can be a Velcro dog and follow you from room to room. Wilson does have a slight heart murmur, but my vet assures me that Wilson does not need to limit his activities at all. He should live a normal life span for a Golden. Wilson is highly food motivated, so it should be easy to train him to commands. He will run to you when you call his name and he will sit, but not 100% of the time. Wilson is a work in progress. He would be perfect for a family who likes to train their own dog or a family that is willing to take him to obedience class. If you would like to meet Wilson, please email placementatragom [dot] org.
