Profile

Gunner was lovingly surrendered after three wonderful years spent with his family. As difficult as it was to say goodbye, his family knew he would thrive in an environment without the activity level of young children. Gunner is still very much a playful puppy and has lots of energy. Gunner absolutely adores his humans and tends to follow them everywhere.

After receiving many great applications, Gunner helped hand-pick a wonderful young couple who couldn't be any kinder or more excited to add another fur-child to their family. Winston, the chill cat, may take some time adjusting, but soon he won't be able to resist Gunner's sensitive and loving personality!

Gunner's new family loves being outside and has great flexibility in their work schedules. Mom works only two days during the week, and dad can take lunch breaks at home and even work remotely. This was Gunner's number one priority, as he needs a lot of daily attention and love.

Gunner will have eight days right off the bat with both parents, allowing ample time to ease into his new home. Gunner will have no problem soaking up all their extra time with belly rubs, tug-o-war, fetch, cuddles, walks, and afternoons swims at his new grandparents' lake.

As we said our goodbyes, we cried a little as we reminded Gunner how much his surrendering family loved him and also how much we do, too! Gunner is a special pup who carries all the best Golden traits and is genuinely the sweetest dog we've ever met. We wish Gunner and his new family a long, happy, and healthy life together!

Thank you to Gunner's new family for loving him so much already and to the volunteers who helped him along his journey: Sheila, Bing, and Dave. Gunner and we are forever grateful!

We hope to run into you again sometime down the road buddy!

Over the three weeks Gunner has been with us, he's completely stolen our hearts and everyone's around us...

Gunner seems to think he's part human and loves to be on his hind legs. Although Gunner will need continued training to minimize his jumping tendencies, he's mastered the most gentle jump followed by a hug and wet kisses. Gunner loves to cuddle and rest his head on your lap whenever he gets a chance.

Gunner has been on a lot of adventures with us. With each new experience he continues to impress us with his easy-going personality and excitement for life. Gunner joined foster dad at work for a half day and brought Golden love to the entire office. Gunner has interacted with many dogs and two cats and has shown no aggression.

Gunner also did wonderfully around foster mom's cousin's toddler (age 2) and never once jumped. Gunner even tolerated this toddler's pats to the head and a swatted balloon to his face without any skittishness or anger. Gunner does continue to be nervous with loud noises, such as vacuums, weed whackers and trucks; however, had no issues camping through a thunderstorm.

Gunner absolutely loves the outdoors, especially swimming, walking, and hiking. Gunner's hesitation to jump off a dock is one of the cutest things, but he musters up the courage to dive in every time. A few other favorite pastimes are: chewing on sticks in the yard, playing ball, and “guarding” the backyard.

This past weekend Gunner was challenged to a backpacking trip on Minnesota's north shore; he did excellent and led a swift pace. Gunner was a great tent buddy and thoroughly enjoyed swimming in every pond, river, and creek he could get his paws in.

Despite this love for water, we learned that Gunner does not particularly love bath time. Sure must be rough to have a full body massage, belly scratches, and a solid 30 minutes of human attention... life of a dog!

We just can't say it enough: Gunner is a true companion and will love his new family unconditionally.

Meet Gunner, a young and playful Golden who loves his humans. Gunner is house trained, respects gates, and does not counter surf. He startles easily with sudden movements or loud noises and can be mouthy at times.

Gunner's ideal family needs to be active and enjoy long walks, runs, or hikes, and hours of playing fetch. He would prefer a family who does not work long days and/or has the flexibility to work from home.

Gunner had his first RAGOM wellness visit, and he's in great health with no issues other than a little plaque on his teeth. The vet would like to see him drop a little weight; he's currently at 58 pounds. His ears are clear (he was treated 9 months ago for an infection).

Gunner is a gem and will certainly be the highlight of your day with wet kisses, silliness, and hours of snuggles.
