Master Jordan arrived in St. Cloud last Wednesday and stayed with foster mom, Jan, til he and his brothers could be vetted and neutered. He is in excellant health, UTD on all his shots, on heartworm and flea/tick protection, tested positive for Lymes and is being treated for that. He spent all of his 2 1/2 years with his brothers in a pen, which for 3 testosterone driven males is not a good thing. I took Jordan home with me on Friday the 9th. He whined and cried all the way to my house, as did his brother Jared 08-252, left behind at his foster mom's. So sad and yet these were the two always mixing it up.
This young man walked into my house and has not had one accident or raised his leg to mark anything. The first day he didn't want to eat, which in itself isn't unusual, but what was more confusing was not eating with his brothers. There was a little posturing and growls trying to find his place in my pack and it took a couple days but they worked it out. He is very attached to me and when I'm out of his sight he will go from room to room and whine and cry looking for me. So Jordan's forever home will need to be patient with his need to know where you are and let him be with you. He has gotten better and will go out and play with the troops even if I'm not out there. He will excel in obedience class and that is a must for this boy. He is so smart and wants to learn.
He slept in a kennel in the bedroom his first night with us. By the next night he was free and deserved to be so. He and Sammy 07-690 are buds and feel it is necessary to wrestle on the bed before sleep time and then again in the morning to wake me up...ugh. Jordan is eating out of his own bowl now, though I do stand guard to make sure he stays there and the other dogs don't try to help him finish up his food.
He is a beautiful boy, all black, though you can see brown in the sun light. One parent was purebred Golden Retriever and one purebred Gordon Setter. He has the stance and ears of the Gordon, the body could go either way with the way GR's look now days. He has beautiful feathering and is just as handsome as can be. The only issue we are working on is in his excitement to see you, meet someone or greet you, he jumps up and I have scratches on my back and front to prove it:) But when you consider he has not been taught any manners, I think it's perfectly reasonable to expect this behaviour.
So, if you are looking for a Black Beauty which is combining the best of both breeds, this would be the boy for you. I don't believe he will last long, so if you are interested in meeting Master Jordan contact placement
