Please welcome Beau to the RAGOM family! Beau was left at a shelter when his family moved. We are so thankful the shelter contacted RAGOM to help this handsome guy find a forever home.

Handsome Beau

Beau is a 6-year-old neutered purebred Golden Retriever. The shelter brought Beau up to date on all of his vaccinations and our wonderful RAGOM vet gave Beau a clean bill of health at his wellness exam. The only recommendation is that Beau's current weight of 88# might be a little on the heavy side, so we're hoping a little less food and lots of long walks will bring his weight down to the upper 70s.

Beau is an amazing boy. He has had free roam of our house since he arrived and is 100% housebroken. Beau is very gentle around children of all ages. He has met dogs of all sizes and temperaments, and gets along with them all.

Josie, Coco, and Beau

He's content at home for a full work day as long as you don't mind him lazying the day on the sofa.

Ready for Work

Beau snores his way through thunderstorms. He walks very nicely with a flat collar and thoroughly enjoys a couple of long brisk walks each day. We have completely fallen in love with this gentle giant, but know we are just part of his journey to his forever home.

We've had the joy of having Beau as part of our family for three months, and we cannot imagine life without him.  He loves his morning walks, and points when he sees squirrels and bunnies in the neighborhood.  He gets petted from neighbors on their way to work and from kids throughout the day.  I think his happiest place is on the sofa, next to one of us as we are reading or watching TV.  He absolutely loves attention -- petting, brushing, talking to -- but seems to understand when we need to (temporarily) move on to something else.

We've started training with him; he excels in most everything, but anything that has to do with getting up and down repeatedly he just isn't too excited about.  That, and looking at us while walking (as opposed to looking ahead) is just not natural to him.  So we are mostly just enjoying the process and not worrying too much about completing Level 4!

We love that we can take Beau anywhere.  He loves to ride in the car -- short rides, long rides, doesn't matter.  He goes to the cabin and to the dog park, and will probably go to Chicago next month.  He is friendly to everyone he meets; he has such a happy disposition.  (We are convinced that he "purrs" -- that he expresses his contentment vocally -- it is so cute!)

Please enjoy this photo of Beau!   Many thanks to all the RAGOM volunteers who do such wonderful work and make so many dogs and families so happy.  See you at Goldzilla!
