Brownie did just fine following his not-so-fun Halloween experience. We are getting to know Brownie a little bit better every day. And every day I can't believe this dog is 8! Our walks are going well; we took a few days off and now take little walks around the neighborhood. Between Brownie and Sid, I am learning to cross the street when we see another dog coming down the sidewalk. Both dogs seems way too interested and begin to bark. I think they feed off of one another a bit, but with 170 pounds of dog at my hands, I prefer to cross the street. Since Brownie has felt more like himself and more comfortable around the house, he has taught us to keep any and all food completely hidden and out of reach. Although we denied him a fun Halloween, he decided to dig out his foster sis's bag of candy and have a few Reese's peanut butter cups. All candy is now not only up high, but behind closed doors. Bownie is also a fan of French bread even when it is in foil, in a Ziploc tucked back far on the counter. So, we are learning. He is weaning off of prednisone from his scratchy self and his ear infection, so that may play into part of his food-driven behavior, but I think that is more than likely something to watch out for.
He continues to prove his sweet self otherwise and melt us all with those beautiful brown eyes. He also showed his best behavior with a family this past weekend and we are thrilled to say that he has found his new furever family. We will have Brownie hang out here for a little longer until he is healed from his procedure and everything else seems good to go. He is a lucky guy! We wish him the best with his new family.
High five for Brownie!
